What is Arduino®

Arduino® is an open-source prototyping platform based on easy-to-use hardware and software. Arduino® boards are able to read inputs – light-on sensor, a finger on a button or a Twitter message – and turn it into an output – activating of a motor, turning on an LED, publishing something online. You can tell your board what to do by sending a set of instructions to the microcontroller on the board. To do so, you use the Arduino programming language (based on Wiring) and the Arduino® software IDE (based on Processing). Additional shields/modules/components are required for reading a twitter message or publishing online. Surf to www.arduino.cc for more information

Product overview

The Whadda bar graph module allows any microcontroller board to easily drive a 10-segment blue LED bar graph. The module uses a TM1651 LED driver chip to drive the individual LED segments, which can be controlled by using only 2 GPIO pins of a microcontroller (such as an Arduino® compatible board). It should be noted that some of the LED-segments are wired together, resulting in 8 different controllable states of the LED bar graph. This module is ideally suited to display levels of battery charge, water tanks, etc…

You can download the example Arduino® program by going to the official Whadda github page: github.com/WhaddaMakers/WPSE350

  1.  Click the “Download ZIP” link in the “Code” menu:WHADDA-WPSE350-0-25-V-DC-Voltage-Sensor-FIG-2
  2.  Unzip the downloaded file, and browse to the WPSE350_example folder. Open the example Arduino® sketch (WPSE350_example.ino) located in the folder.
  3.  Connect your Arduino compatible board, make sure the correct Board and connection port are set in the tools menu, and hit Upload
  4.  Open the serial monitor by clicking the serial monitor button , make sure the baudrate is set at 9600 baud

The example program will read the analog voltage output signal of the module. It will calculate the corresponding input voltage and print-out the result in the serial monitor. In order to get a non-zero reading, connect a voltage source (e.g. AA or 9V battery) that outputs less than 25 V DC to the voltage input screw terminals.
