STEAM FUNCTION AND

MAKING A CAPPUCCINO
You can use the steam nozzle to froth milk. Foamy milk is obtained by placing a container of very fresh, cold milk under the steam nozzle. It can then be added to espresso to make a cappuccino.
To avoid the formation of excessive pressure inside the filter, you should remove the filter holder before using steam.

SYSTEMATIC PURGE OF THE STEAM CIRCUIT:
Each time before you make frothy milk, you must purge the steam circuit:

  • Place an empty container under the steam nozzle (k).
  • Turn the Steam function selector switch (i) to position (i2) (fig. 12). The Steam light (i4) comes on.
  • Turn the Steam function selector switch (i) to position (i3) (fig. 13) in order to purge the circuit.
  • When all the water inside the circuit has been emitted, turn the Steam function selector switch (i) back to the to the position (i2).(fig. 12) (i2).
    • Remove your container.
    • Your device is ready to froth milk.

FROTHING MILK:

  • Place the nozzle in the container of very fresh cold milk (100 ml) without touching the bottom and turn the steam function selector switch (i) to the “ ” position (i3) (fig. 13). Keep the nozzle in this position for 15 seconds.
  • Progressively lower and tilt your container so that the steam nozzle comes right to the surface of the milk.
  • Once the desired quantity of froth has been obtained, turn the Steam function selector switch (i) back to the “O” position (fig. 15). The appliance automatically cools down (pump noise). At the end of this operation, the Coffee indicator lamp (h3) comes on. Hot water flows into the drip tray (m).
  • Your appliance is ready to make an espresso and finalise your cappuccino. After the steam has stopped, quickly and carefully clean the steam nozzle with a damp sponge (so that the residue does not stick). Place a container of water under the steam nozzle and repeat the milk frothing process in order to clean the nozzle out properly. To unblock the hole in the steam nozzle outlet, you may use a needle.
    IMPORTANT!
Caution! The steam nozzle is still hot! Careful you don’t burn yourself!

Make sure the coffee machine is unplugged and completely cooled down before you begin to clean it.
The removable parts can be cleaned using a cloth and gentle washing-up liquid. water. Do not immerse the coffee machine in water or any other liquid.

OF THE FILTER HOLDER HOUSING:
Using a damp cloth, regularly clean the filter holder housing in order to remove any coffee residue which may be stuck there.
To prolong the life of the percolation head gasket seal, do not put the filter holder back into place if the coffee machine is not to be used for a long time.

OF THE DRIP TRAY:

The drip tray must be emptied after each time the appliance is used. If multiple espressos are prepared one after another, it should be emptied from time to time (every 6 cups of espressos approximately) (fig.17). The presence of water is normal and is not the sign of a leak. If necessary, clean the drip tray (m) and its grid (l) with water and a little gentle washing-up liquid, rinse and dry. Make sure the drip tray is put back into place properly (fig. 18).
Caution! Do not put any of these parts into the dishwasher.

The coffee machine must be descaled regularly as follows:

  • Fill the tank with a mixture composed of three parts water for one part white vinegar or a mixture of ½ litre of water and a packet of descaler (both white vinegar and descaler can be purchased from hardware stores). Place a container under the filter holder. Turn the appliance on (fig 4).
  • Allow around one-third of the liquid to flow from the tank by turning the Coffee function selector (h) to the position (h2).
  • Stop the appliance by pressing the On / Off switch (fig. 4), leaving the switch (h) on the position (h2).
  • Wait for 10 to 15 minutes to let the descaler work.
  • Then turn the appliance back on by pressing the On/Off switch again and let the rest of the water run from the tank.
  • Finally, carry out 2 machine rinse cycles with a full tank of water in order to flush the descaler out. Regular descaling of your appliance is a guarantee of an extended lifetime. The frequency with which you need to descale your appliance depends on the hardness of your water and the way you use the coffee maker. You will find a summary table below setting out the descaling frequencies depending on hardness of water and degree of use.

From

7 to 20
