The P5iCW can be installed in walls and ceilings with a material depth between
5/8″ and 1-3/8″ (15 and 35mm). The minimum depth of the wall cavity is 4”
(100mm) of free space.
The drivers and crossover are mounted on a removable baffle. If room
construction has not been completed, this baffle can be removed and stored in
a safe location either before or after the main enclosure has been installed
in the wall. This also makes for easy removal if future service becomes
necessary.
CEILING MOUNTING PRECAUTIONS
When mounting in a ceiling, the enclosure should be secured with a steel wire run between a structural frame element and eyehooks screwed into the back of the P5iCW enclosure. We also recommend adding a pair of small screws to secure the grille to the enclosure.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
-
Once you have determined the speaker location, cut a wall opening of 12 x 12″ (305 x 305 mm) (-0 +2mm) with a
corner radius of 1/3″ (8mm) or less. (There is no template provided with the speaker). -
Bring the speaker wires through the wall cutout and secure them.
-
Adjust each mounting wing to bring it closest to the bottom of the enclosure. They should remain unfolded.
-
Insert and position the speaker into the wall cutout.
-
Tighten the four corner screws firmly. We recommend using a powered screwdriver.
-
Attach the speaker cable to the screw terminal, observing the polarity.
-
Attach the grill (unless the speaker is behind a screen or fabric wall).
• Always install the P5iCW so that the waveguide points towards the main listening position. For wall mounting, vertical orientation (waveguide above the woofer) is preferred, but the speaker can also be used in a horizontal orientation. In all cases, including ceiling mounts, the waveguide should be directed towards the listening area
• When the P5iCW loudspeaker is used behind an acoustically transparent projection screen, it should be positioned so that the acoustical center of the speaker (the lower edge of the P5iCW waveguide) is at about 5/8 of the screen height from the bottom edge of the image.
• When used in combination with a flat-screen display or a solid/non- perforated projection screen, we recommend that P5iWC L/C/R speakers be mounted above the panel or screen.
• For installation behind a screen or hidden behind the acoustically transparent fabric, the grill should be removed.
• Always ensure that the loudspeaker polarity is correct. The red terminal is positive and gives a forward cone motion with applied positive voltage.
• For cable runs up to 10m (30 feet) use a minimum of 1.5mm 2 /AWG16 cable. Runs from 10-25m (30-80 feet) require 2 2.5mm /AWG14 and runs above 25m (80feet) require 4mm 2 /AWG12.
• We recommend that the Procella P5iCW be used with a high-quality power amplifier or A/V receiver with a
minimum of 100 Watts per channel into 8 ohms.
• The receiver or processor’s bass management should be set to SMALL or our recommended crossover frequency of 80Hz, with a 2nd order HP (12dB/octave) characteristic. If available, use the ‘THX’™ set.
