INTRODUCTION
Thank you for purchasing the CARVIN® STARFALL backlit waterfall set
(‘’Product’’).
We want to help you get the best results from your new product and operate it
safely. This manual contains information on how to do that; please read it
carefully before installing and using the pool. If a problem should arise, or
if you have any questions about your product, consult an authorized CARVIN®
retailer or distributor.
All the information in this manual is based on the latest product information
available at the time of publication. The manufacturer reserves the right to
make changes at any time without notice and without incurring any obligation.
No part of this publication may be reproduced without written permission.
COMPLIANCE
The light included in this Product is compliant with applicable safety standards in Canada and in the United States of America.
READ AND FOLLOW ALL INSTRUCTIONS
Review all instructions provided with the product prior to its installation,
startup, operation, shutdown, maintenance or winterization.
Failure to follow warnings and safety messages may result in property damage
or personal injury. The user assumes the bodily or material risks arising from
any improper use of this product.This manual should be considered a permanent
part of the product and should remain with the product if resold.

INSTALLATION
Before starting the installation of your skimmer & return, make sure you have all the necessary tools listed below. Check the contents in the box make sure everything is there before starting your installation. All parts included in the box are important and should all be installed. If parts are left out from the installation, this could cause serious failure of the skimmer and return. Once the installation is started, it should be completed as soon as possible. If a part is missing or defective, please contact your CARVIN® retailer where your purchase was made.
WARNING
The warranty of the product will be canceled if all installation requirements and guidelines are not respected.
TOOLS
- Drill with screwdriver bit #3
- Screwdriver bit #3 Phillips or Robertson
- Small straight screwdriver
- Hand saw
REQUIRED MATERIAL
- Starfall 94114 XXX
- A Star Series Starter kit, to power and control lights;
REQUIRED POOL EQUIPMENT
A basic circulation and filtration system MUST BE INSTALLED. This system
includes the following products by installation order:
- 1 1/2’’ Flexible hose
- PVC-ABS glue
IMPORTANT TO CONSIDER BEFORE INSTALLING
- Follow the installation steps thoroughly without omitting anything. It can result in serious accidents.
- Omitting installation steps may result in a leaking skimmer and/or leaking water return. Any leak could rust the wall and seriously damage the structure of your pool.
The manufacturer of your product has no responsibility for any omission of the installation steps contained in this manual or a non-compliant installation.
STARFALL INSTALLATION STEPS
IMPORTANT
Your STARFALL will replace an actual ledge.
Keep in mind that further from the filter you install the STARFALL less
performance your will have.
We recommand to stay in the next 3 top ledges from the filter for a maximum of
15 ft of hose.
STEP 1
Select the position where you want to install your STARFALL.
STEP 2
Glue the Carvin quick connect fitting (included in box) on one end of the
flexible hose.
DO NOT CUT THE FLEXIBLE HOSE, FINAL LENGTH WILL BE DETERMINED LATER.
STEP 3
For each selected position, remove the top ledge cover cap.
STEP 4
Unscrew the top ledge cover screw.
STEP 5
Remove the top ledge cover.
STEP 6
Unscrew the 4x top ledge screws. (2 on each side).
STEP 7
Remove the top ledge.
Store the top ledge in a safe place as we recommend to keep it for winterizing
(See WINTERIZING section at the end of this document).
STEP 8
Pass LED cable to the STARFALL hole.
STEP 9
Position the STARFALL on the top plate.
STEP 10
Connect electric connector to the Star Series cable.
STEP 11
Screw back the Top ledge screw to fix the Starfall.
STEP 12
Replace the top ledge cover.
STEP 13
Screw back the top ledge cover screw.
STEP 14
Install the top ledge cover cap.
WATER RETURN INSTALLATION STEPS
STEP 15
Depending on the accessory and equipment you have, choose the proper
connections at the filter outlet, then glue the parts accordingly to the
figure below.

TRENCH DIGGING AND HOSE CONNECTION
STEP 16
Dig a 6’’ deep tranch from the STARFALL center to the filter head return
outlet.
Trench should not be closer than 10’’ to the pool, except when you get close
to the STARFALL.
AT THE END OF THE TRENCH, CLOSE TO THE STARFALL, WE RECOMMEND YOU DIG A DEEPER
TRENCH ZONE (12’’ DEEP APPROXIMATELY) TO ACCOMMODATE THE MINIMUM
BEND RADIUS OF THE HOSE.
STEP 17
1-Connect the flexible hose to the STARFALL connector.
STEP 18
Unroll the flexible hose up to the filter return outlet
STEP 19
Position the flexible hose under the Starfall straight and close to straight
and close to the pool wall.
STEP 20.1
Position the flexible hose in the trench up to the filter head outlet.
Cut the hose.
STEP 20.2
Glue the hose to the 3 way valve assembly.
STEP 21.1
Insert top of the beauty cap under the STARFALL then pivot the bottom to the
pool wall, in the same time snap the flexible hose with the in the 4 clips.
For best results, the flexible hose has to be straight, aligned to the
STARFALL inlet. It might help to fill locally the 12’’ deep trench zone with
some soil or stone dust.
STEP 21.2
Check beauty cap alignment.
Fill the whole trench with soil or stone dust.
Fix the beauty cap with a 4’’ to 6’’ nail.
FIX THE NAIL CAREFULLY AND MAKE SURE IT GOES BESIDE THE HOSE (AND NOT
THROUGH THE HOSE).
STEP 22
- PVC glue takes 2 hours to completely cure.
- After curing time, inspect your Starfall set up to make sure there are no leaks.
For instance, check 3 way valve connection(s), waterfall inlet connection, pool return connection and starjet manifold connection.
ANY LEAK COULD RUST OR SERIOUSLY DAMAGE THE STRUCTURE OF YOUR POOL
If you don’t see any leaks, we highly recommend to check once again after 24
hours
OPERATING
- Before you start the pump, make sure the level of water is high enough (refer to the min/max mark on the Carvin skimmer decorative face plate).
- You can start the pump once all the components are connected.
- You can adjust the projection and flow of your waterfall by slightly closing/opening the 3 way valve.
- The STARFALL light, if connected, is controlled by the remote contro
WINTERIZING
STARFALL WINTERIZING
We strongly recommend to store your STARFALL during winter time. Harsh
temperature change could damage the waterfall device inside the plastic shell
and/ or affect water projection and/or clearness of the product.

Turn off your pump.
-
Disconnect the hose that connects the STARFALL to the filtrer (unscrew Carvin quick connect fitting) MAKE SURE TO GRAB THE FITTING ORING SEAL AND KEEP IT
TO A SAFE PLACE IN ORDER TO PRESERVE FOR NEXT YEAR. -
Disassemble the pool top ledge cover following STEP 3-4-5-6.

Remove STARFALL and store it inside, sheltered from bad weather.

Replace original top ledge and covers (this will avoid the wall to warp during winter time).
REPLACEMENT PARTS
Use the original CARVIN® replacement parts only.
CONSUMER INFORMATION
Authorized CARVIN® retailer or distributor personnel are trained
professionals.
They should be able to answer any question you may have. If you encounter a
problem that your retailer or distributor does not solve to your satisfaction,
please discuss it with the retailer’s or distributor’s management. The Service
Manager,
General Manager, or Owner can help. Almost all problems are solved in this
way.
If you are dissatisfied with the decision made by the retailer’s or
distributor’s management, contact the CARVIN® technical support.
When you write or call, please provide the following information:
- Product model, serial number and date code;
- Name of retailer or distributor who sold the Product to you;
- The original proof of purchase showing the date of purchase;
- Your name, address and telephone number;
- A detailed description of the problem; and
- If sending an email, any relevant photos of the Product and its surroundings
WARRANTY
Le Groupe VIF Inc. (“VIF”), owner and manufacturer of the CARVIN® Pool
Equipment brand, gives the following written Warranty on each new Product
manufactured by or on behalf of VIF and distributed for sale in America.
VIF guarantees that each new Product will be free from any defects, in
material or workmanship, for the Warranty period set below, under normal use
and maintenance. If any defects should be found in a Product within the period
set below and when VIF acknowledges that such defects are attributable to
faulty material or workmanship at the time of manufacturing, at its discretion
VIF will replace or repair
with a new part or the CARVIN® equivalent, at no cost to the consumer for
parts and labour.
The Warranty Period coverage starts from the original date of sale or when the unit is first installed as a demonstrator
The actual Product item number may vary from the Product model number which may include a suffix for color, packing options or else.
This Warranty covers:

Any Product purchased from a CARVIN® retailer or distributor authorized to sell that product in America.

Any Product on which required maintenance services have been performed as prescribed in this manual.
This Warranty does not cover: -
Any repairs required as a result of collision, striking any object, frost, acts of God, careless use, misuse, improper installation, improper ground preparation, improper winterization, or lack of maintenance described in this manual;

Any repairs required as a result of the failure, breakage, careless use, misuse, improper installation, or lack of maintenance of another pool equipment or accessories, such as, but not limited to, the liner, ladder, skimmer, water return, water return light, or winter cover;

Any repairs required due to rust caused by improper installation, lack of maintenance, or leakage, of the water return, water return light, or skimmer;
-
Any Product modified, altered, disassembled, or remodelled;

Shipping related costs to and from the manufacturer;

Installation and removal related costs; and
-
Normal maintenance services or water chemistry analysis services described in this manual.
This warranty is non-transferable and applies only to the first retail buyer, and only during the period when the first retail buyer occupies the place where the product was originally installed

REPLACEMENT PARTS AVAILABILITY
Replacement parts are available through your CARVIN® retailer or distributor.
REPLACEMENT PARTS WARRANTY
New CARVIN® replacement parts sold to a consumer or installed by an authorized
CARVIN® retailer which are not covered by this Warranty are guaranteed for a
period of 3 months, however, this Replacement Parts Warranty does not apply to
any replacement parts modified, used with, or installed on a Product for which
the replacement parts were not intended.
ENTIRE WRITTEN WARRANTY
This Warranty is the only and the entire written Warranty given by VIF for its
Product. No retailer or his agent or employee is authorized to extend or
enlarge on these warranties on behalf of VIF by any written or verbal
statement or advertisement.
TO OBTAIN WARRANTY SERVICE
You must first contact your authorized CARVIN® retailer or distributor. Please
refer to section Customer Information.
Any defect must be reported to an authorized CARVIN® retailer or distributor
within 72 hours to avoid potential breakage to other equipment, otherwise the
warranty will not be honored.

contacting your dealer or distributor, if you have any problems with your
