OPERATION

BEFORE FIRST USE
Remove the lid, ice cream bowl and paddle from the machine. Clean these parts and accessories using warm soapy water and rinse thoroughly. Ensure all parts are completely dry.

ASSEMBLY

  1. Push paddle onto the spindle. It is important that the paddle is properly assembled onto the drive shaft spindle to ensure all ingredients are properly mixed.
  2. Check that the exterior of the ice cream bowl and the bowl chamber within the machine are clean and completely dry.
  3. Place ice cream bowl into the ice cream chamber. There are 2 grooves in the bowl chamber. When positioning the bowl, align so that the bowl handle hinges are positioned within these grooves (see fig. 2 ).
  4. Lock the lid into position by aligning the lid handle to the alignment graphic. Rotate clockwise into the LOCK position (see fig. 3 ).

AUTOMATIC MODE
The ice cream machine defaults to AUTO mode when the POWER button is pressed.

MAKING DESSERT IN AUTO MODE

  1. Always start with a clean and dry bowl. Check that bowl chamber is also dry and free of any spills or residue.
  2. Insert paddle BEFORE adding ingredients. Inserting paddle after ingredients may cause ingredients to overflow and spill into the bowl chamber.
  3. Add ingredients before inserting bowl into chamber. Wipe any spilled ingredients from the rim or outside of bowl.
  4. Insert bowl into chamber (see fig. 2 ).
  5. Lock lid into place until the dessert is finished. Use the inner lid for adding mix-ins.
  6. Turn the hardness dial to select the hardness you desire. Turn left for softer desserts, and right for harder desserts.
  7. Press START. The LCD toggles between elapsed time, and current temperature.
  8. The PROGRESS indicator bar shows how far through you are by progressing towards the selected dessert.
  9. When finished, the Smart Scoop will beep to let you know the dessert has reached the desired consistency. The motor and compressor will stop unless you have pressed KEEP COOL.

PRE-COOL (AUTO AND MANUAL MODE)

  1. Use PRE-COOL to lower the temperature of the ice cream and reduce the amount of churning time to make your dessert.

  2. PRE-COOL takes 5-10 minutes, and will cool ingredients down to -10°C to -30°C.

  3. When the optimal temperature has been reached, READY and PRESS START will illuminate on the LCD. The machine is now ready for you to turn the hardness selection dial and press START.

  4. If you do not press START immediately, the paddle will start turning after 15 minutes to prevent ingredients freezing solid.

  5. The machine will return to stand-by after 20 minutes if the START button has not been pressed.

  6. PRE-COOL can be cancelled by pressing the PRE-COOL button again, or override it by pressing START at any time.

KEEP COOL (AUTO MODE)
The KEEP COOL function keeps frozen dessert chilled for up to 3 hours. The compressor and motor turn on intermittently to maintain the hardness you have selected.

MANUAL MODE

  1. The ice cream machine defaults to AUTO mode. Press the manual timer buttons (up or down arrow) to switch into MANUAL mode.
  2. Adjust the timer to the desired length of time (on average, ice cream needs around 50 minutes of churning and freezing). The timer can be adjusted up or down at any time while making the dessert.
  3. PRE-COOL can be used, as described above. When the optimal temperature has been reached, press the START button for the timer to begin counting down.
  4. To reset the timer, press and hold the START button for 2 seconds.
  5. Add ingredients as outlined in the MAKING DESSERT section above.
  6. Hardness selection is not available in manual mode.
  7. KEEP COOL operates within the set time, for example, if the timer is set to 90 minutes, the dessert may be ready within 50 minutes. In this instance, the remaining 40 minutes will utilise the KEEP COOL function.

SMART SCOOP DISPLAY
The LCD toggles between elapsed time, and current temperature.

VOLUME SETTINGS
The Smart Scoop features a beeper to indicate that your frozen dessert is ready. Press the ready beeper volume button to select high, low or mute.

TEMPERATURE / UNITS
Press the temperature / units button to toggle between Celsius and Fahrenheit.

FACTORY DEFAULT RESET
To restore the factory specified default settings, press and hold the KEEP COOL button for 5 seconds. Do this when in standby mode.

CARE & CLEANING

Turn the appliance off at the power outlet and unplug the cord. Allow the ice cream machine compressor to come to room temperature before disassembling and cleaning.

HOUSING AND BOWL CHAMBER

  • Wipe the exterior of the stainless steel housing and the LCD screen with a soft damp cloth. Do not use a dry paper towel or cloth to clean the LCD screen. Do not use abrasive cleanser or scouring pads to clean any part of the ice cream machine as this will scratch the surface.
  • If over spill of cream, milk, chocolate etc. occurs in the interior chamber carefully remove using warm soapy water and a soft damp cloth. Allow the bowl chamber to come to room temperature before cleaning.
  • Let all surfaces dry thoroughly prior to inserting the power plug into the power outlet.
  • Never immerse the stainless steel housing in water or place in the dishwasher. Take care not to allow water or cleaning fluids to seep under the buttons or LCD screen on the control panel.

LID
Wash lid in warm soapy water and a soft damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleanser or scouring pads.

THE BOWL
Fill the ice cream bowl up halfway with warm soapy water. A non-abrasive liquid cleanser or mild spray solution may be used. Allow to stand for 10 minutes if necessary, then clean with warm soapy water and a soft cloth. Do not use abrasive cleanser or scouring pads. Do not store ice cream bowl in the freezer with or without dessert inside.

THE PADDLE
Wash the paddle with warm soapy water. Using the bottle brush supplied insert this in the central part of the paddle to clean the ice cream out. Let all surfaces dry thoroughly before reassembling the machine (see fig. 4 ).

DISHWASHER
Ice cream bowl is NOT dishwasher safe. Paddle and lid are dishwasher safe on the top rack ONLY.
