Product Information

The Replacement Boot is a component of the StorkTM system. It is designed to be used with the Stork Bootstraps, sensor, camera, and hub (all sold separately). The boot is available in Medium or Large sizes. Please note that the sensor, camera, and hub are not included with the Replacement Boot.

Product Usage Instructions

Step 1: Download the StorkTM App
Before using the Replacement Boot, download the StorkTM App. For assistance, visit www.masimo.com/Stork for additional tips, tutorials, a full list of supported devices, warranty information, troubleshooting, and customer support.

Step 2: Adding the Boot Straps

  1. Choose the bootstraps that will properly fit the baby’s foot. Refer to Fig. 1 for reference.
  2. Slide the longer strap onto the top of the boot (near the baby’s ankle) and slide the shorter strap onto the sensor. Refer to Figs. 2 and 3 for reference.

Note: Ankle refers to the longer strap and Sensor refers to the shorter strap.

Step 3: Inserting the Sensor into the Boot

  1. Insert the sensor into the boot at an angle, toe end first, with the Masimo logo facing down. Refer to Fig. 4 for reference.
  2. Press down to secure the sensor. The sensor should sit flush in the boot.

Step 4: Checking the Strap Length

  1. Refer to Fig. 8 to ensure proper placement on the baby’s foot.
  2. Refer to Fig. 9 for optimum fit. Check to make sure the boot and straps are not too tight.

Caution: Frequently check the boot and strap placement to ensure they are not too tight.

Step 5: Cleaning the Boot
Caution: Before cleaning, remove the sensor from the boot (no need to remove the straps).

  1. Place the boot (and the straps if desired) in a delicates bag.
  2. Wash the boot using cold water and the detergent you use for your baby’s clothes. You can also use a mild detergent.

Step 6: Placing the Boot on the Baby’s Foot

  1. Place the boot on the baby’s foot. Refer to Fig. 5 for reference.
  2. Check for proper alignment. The boot should be snug but not tight. Refer to Fig. 6 for reference.
  3. Feed the straps through the openings in the boot. Refer to Fig. 7 for reference.

Note: The left foot is preferred for placement.
Caution: Use care when tightening the velcro on the straps. Do not pull them too tightly.

Step 7: Surface Cleaning the Boot
Caution: Before cleaning, remove the sensor from the boot.

  1. Clean the boot by wiping it with a 70% isopropyl alcohol pad or mild detergent.
  2. Allow the boot to dry completely before inserting the sensor in the boot and/or placing it on a baby’s foot.

DESCRIPTION

The Stork™ Boot is part of the Stork smart home baby monitoring system, which is designed for parents to monitor a healthy baby at home. It is designed for comfort using soft medical-grade silicone and has a slot just under the baby’s foot to allow you to insert the Stork Sensor and hold it in place. The Stork Boot can be purchased separately in two sizes (medium or large). The small size is only available with Stork Vitals+ and Stork Vitals. The Stork baby monitoring system is designed for babies aged 0-18 months old.

INSTRUCTIONS

Add the Bootstraps

  1. Refer to Fig. 1. Choose the bootstraps that will properly fit the baby’s foot.
  2. Refer to Figs. 2. and 3. Slide the longer strap on to the top of the boot (will be near baby’s ankle) and slide the shorter strap onto the sensor.

Insert the Sensor into the Boot

  1. Refer to Fig. 4. Insert the sensor into the boot at an angle, toe end first, with the Masimo logo facing down.
  2. Press down to secure the sensor. The sensor should sit flush in the boot.

Place on baby’s foot

  1. Refer to Fig. 5. Place the boot on the baby’s foot.
  2. Refer to Fig. 6. Check for proper alignment. The boot should be snug, but not tight.
  3. Refer to Fig. 7. Feed the straps through the openings in the boot.

Check the Strap Length

  1. See Fig. 8. to ensure proper placement on the baby’s foot.
  2. See Fig. 9. For optimum fit. Check to make sure the boot and straps are not too tight.

  • Do not leave the components unattended, small items may become choking hazards.
  • Carefully position any straps to avoid small item hazards.
  • Remove before bathing to prevent foot and/or ankle.
  • Avoid strapping the boot too tightly around the foot to avoid Stork.
  • To avoid skin injury, consider alternating feet after it has been used for more than 12 hours.
  • Do not monitor more than one person at a time with Stork.
  • Check the boot for proper securement and alignment frequently and adjust as necessary.
  • Do not use additional tape to secure to the foot and/or ankle. This can restrict blood flow and cause incorrect Use of additional tape can also cause skin damage, and/or pressure injury or damage Stork.

Things that can interfere with the light can affect your SpO2 accuracy. Some things can be controlled, while others need awareness:

Controllable things:

  • Keeping feet dry and free of foreign objects.
  • Not blocking the light through your foot.
  • Avoiding direct exposure to bright lights, including direct sunlight.
  • Keeping the foot still.
  • Warm the baby’s foot to improve circulation.
  • Avoid use on the same leg with blood pressure cuff inflated.
  • Keep away from other electrical equipment that may cause readings to be affected (e.g., microwaves, strong radio transmitters).

Other things that require awareness:

  • Skin pigment or color.
  • Skin or foot thickness.
  • Skin conditions that may affect the ability to comfortably wear the boot (e.g.: eczema).
  • Foot deformities (e.g. extreme club foot).
  • Health conditions affecting how oxygen is carried in your blood (e.g., sickle cell, severe anemia).
  • Poor blood circulation.
  • Presence of blood components not able to carry oxygen (e.g., elevated carbon monoxide levels in the blood.
