TROUBLESHOOTING
IF THERE IS LOW OR NO SUCTION Check that the breast pump is fully assembled
correctly and that all necessary parts are present and free from damage. Check
that the valve membrane is secured in place, sitting flat against the valve,
and free from damage. Check that the handle connector and manual handle are
secured to the pump body correctly. Check that there’s no water in the
silicone air diaphragm. Low suction can also occur if your breast is not
positioned correctly in the cone.
The Vital Baby NURTURE flexcone™ manual breast pump is compatible with Vital
Baby’ NURTURE® breast-like bottles. You are provided with a 150mINURTURE®
breast-like bottle, slow flow teat, and cap with your new breast pump,
however, more of the NURTURE® breast-like feeding range is available at
www.vitalbaby.com. Please see the Vital Baby”
NURTURE breast-like feeding bottles leaflet for important information before
use. In order to minimize hazards to health and the environment and ensure
that materials can be recycled, this product should be disposed of at a
separate collection facility.
STORING YOUR BREAST MILK
- Once defrosted, never re-freeze breast milk.
- Never mix fresh and previously expressed breast milk.
- Always discard leftover milk at the end of a feed.
- Always express into a sterilized bottle.
Once you’ve unscrewed your NURTURE® breast-like feeding bottle from your breast pump, screw the assembled screw ring, teat, and teat cap onto the bottle. Alternatively, you can transfer your breast milk to a Vital Baby’ NURTURE® breast milk storage system or Vital Baby NURTURE® easy pour breast milk storage bags. You can store expressed breast milk in the fridge for up to 48 hours, or in the freezer for up to 3 months. Always ensure that you use up older milk first, and never store it in the fridge or freezer door. To defrost your breast milk, place the bottle, pot, or bag in the fridge overnight, before warming the next day. Use up defrosted breast milk within 24 hours of defrosting. To warm your breast milk, we recommend that you place it in a bowl of hot water or use a bottle warmer. Always shake the bottle with the teat cap securely fixed to ensure that the milk is evenly warmed. Always check the temperature before feeding. Never heat breast milk in a microwave, as this may destroy valuable nutrients and antibodies, and can heat the milk unevenly, creating hotspots in the liquid which could burn your baby.
OPERATING THE MANUAL BREAST PUMP
ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS FOR MANUAL USE Wash, rinse, sterilize and dry thoroughly before and after each use. Wash your hands thoroughly and make sure your breasts are clean before using the breast pump.
STEP 1
Place the silicone flexcone™ (2) inside the cup (3), ensuring that the lip on
the edge of the silicone flexcone™ overlaps the edges of the cup. The cone
cover (1) should be placed over the silicone flexconeTM (2) for hygiene at all
times when not in use. Secure the cone onto the pump body (4), ensuring that
the circular and rectangular parts on the pump body (4) slot into the correct
holes in the cone.
STEP 2
Slot the pumping rod (5) through the bottom of the manual silicone air
diaphragm (6), so that the rim of the hole in the base of the diaphragm sits
flush in the slot at the bottom of the rod.
Place the assembled silicone air diaphragm (see step 2) into the pump body (4), ensuring that the edge of the manual silicone diaphragm is flush with the rim of the pump body (4). Then secure the handle connector (7) to the pump body (4) and manual pump handle (8) to the handle connector, ensuring that the hook on the connector clicks into place on the handle and the tip of the pumping rod slots through the bigger hole in the handle. Then slide the tip of the rod into the smaller hole of the handle to secure it – you will hear a click when securely in place.
STEP 3
Slot the valve membrane (11) into the valve (10). It is crucial to the
operation of the breast pump that the valve membrane is present, assembled
correctly, clean, and not damaged. The breast pump cannot operate without the
valve membrane.
STEP 4
Slot the assembled valve and membrane (see step 3) into the neck of the pump
body (4), ensuring that the valve membrane is facing the back of the pump body
(4).
STEP 5
Screw your sterilized NURTURE® breast-like feeding bottle (12) into the bottle
adapter (9) and then screw the assembled bottle and adapter into the assembled
pump body (see step 4), before placing it into the bottle stand (13).
