ahlsell PCD030 Mode 2 Portable Charging Cables

Good to know

A mode 2 portable charging cable is intended to be used for “emergency charging” when there is no mode 3 charging station/charging post available. The charging cable allows charging directly from outlets such as sockets (SCHUKO) or red or blue industrial connectors (CEE), but may require an adapter to allow this. The charging cables are supplied with either a type 1 (SAE 1772) or a type 2 (IEC 62196-2) plug.
Warning
Ensure that the charging cable is securely connected with sufficient strain relief, and that the conduit you are charging from is properly dimensioned and secured. Despite the high encapsulation class, you are recommended, as far as possible, to avoid water and snow during storage and use. Familiarise yourself with the currently applicable recommendations, laws and regulations regarding the use of charging cables of this type in the country in which the product is being used. Familiarise yourself with the connector in your vehicle, and only use adapters approved by the manufacturer. Never use the product if it has been damaged. The product may only be opened and repaired by certified personnel.

Key features

  • Compatibility – Fits all electric cars and rechargeable hybrids with a Type 1 or Type 2 connector
  • Encapsulation class – High degree of encapsulation ensures safe and secure use
  • Quick and easy use – Simply plug the cable into the supply and the vehicle, and it will establish communication with the vehicle and initiate charging.
  • Robust – The cables and communication boxes are made of robust materials that can withstand being driven over by a vehicle.
  • Intelligent chip – Automatically detects problems during charging and issues an alert with the indicator lights and/or LCD display in the event of a fault.
  • Safety – offers e.g.: short circuit protection, overcurrent protection (output), under and overvoltage protection (input), temperature detection and earth fault detection.

Maintenance

To reduce risk and safeguard the normal service life of the portable charger, the product must be handled as described by the manufacturer. All service work on the product should be carried out by certified personnel with the appropriate tools intended for this type of work. The products are tested and quality assured in the factory, and it is important to avoid heavy jolts during transportation. If damage to the outer packaging is detected, the products should be checked visually and physically for defects or to see if anything is missing. The products should be stored and transported within the temperature range -40°C to +70°C and with relative humidity not exceeding 95%. The products should not be stored in corrosive or alkaline environments, or in other environments that promote corrosion or environments where there are explosive gases. The products should also be shielded from rain, snow, wind and sand during storage and transportation. Mode 2 portable charging cables are subject to rigorous quality inspections and tests at the factory. If quality problems are detected within 2 years in the event of the normal use of the products, they will be subject to warranty service. In this case, contact your dealer. Any malfunctions caused directly or indirectly by operating errors, damage or other effects that the products are not intended to withstand will not be subject to warranty service or replacement.

Instructions for use

Initiate charging

  1. Plug in supply plug
Note: Adjust to Max 10A when charging from SCHUKO (standard socket)!

  2. Plug in vehicle plug
Note: Adjust the charging current before this step.

  3. Charging is initiated automatically

End charging

  1. Disconnect plug from the vehicle
  2. Attach the protective cap
  3. Finally, disconnect the supply

By plugging in and disconnecting the portable charger in this order, you avoid unnecessary wear and tear, reducing the risk of arcs and thereby also the risk of fire during use.
