BEFORE INSTALLATION

  • Before installation read the operation manual thoroughly. This way you can use all the benefits of the device and prevent damage.
  • Only an electrician or a person with equal qualifications may install the device.
  • Installation and maintenance of the device are only allowed when it is not under voltage.
  • For unique problems that are not covered in the installation manual, contact your vendor to ensure safety.
  • It is not permitted to alter or rebuild the control device without authorization.
  • The manufacturer has the right to make improvements to the device. The latest version of the operation manual can be found on the webpage (www.huum.eu)
  • Make sure that the building’s cables from the main switchboard to the sauna’s desired location have sufficient cross-section. In case of an older building, pay attention to the condition of the connecting boxes and if possible, install a new cable from the switchboard to the sauna. Install separate protection for the heater.
  • It is recommended to connect the unit to the mains without an earth-leakage circuit breaker.
  • Symbols used in the installation manual:

INSTALLING UKU ELECTRICAL CONTROL DEVICE

  • Before installation disconnect the electric heater from the power supply in the switchboard.
  • The control devic 1e must be installed outside the steam room, at the user’s eye level next to the door or according to the manufacturer’s recommendations.
  • If your main controller s2 upports the use of the WIFI connection it must be installed where the appropriate reception is available.
  • The device must be installed in a dry place. The protection degree of the device is IPX4. The power cables must be anchored via the provided cable gland.
  • Do not exceed a room temperature of 104 oF (40 oC) and relative humidity of 95%.
  • Before powering the controller, it must be made sure that the controller box is sealed so that there is no possibility for pollution or only for dry, non-conductive pollution to occur on the components inside the controller while in use. All the cable inlets and the box shall be properly sealed.
  • CAUTION! The control device must be connected to the mains permanently without plugs. A method to disconnect all poles from the mains (a circuit breaker) must be installed. The power cables of the heater controller must meet the requirements of UL 62 in the US and CSA 49 in Canada – the minimum temperature rating of 140 °F (60°C). The cables’ cross-section depends on the power of the heater. See the heater manual. Our recommended wire size for controller power cable: 10 AWG for 4.5 kW and 6 kW heaters, 6 AWG for 9 kW heaters, 10 AWG for 12 kW heaters (double-wire), 6 AWG for 15 and 18 kW heaters (double- wire). Always let the correct cable size be approved and installed by a qualified electrician.
  • NB! A method to disconnect all poles from the mains (a circuit breaker) must be installed on the power circuit.
  • NB! Measure the lengths of the cables and determine the locations of the cables and the parts of the device (Figure).

CONTROL PANEL – UKU 1

  • With a wooden housing

    • Remove the back cover of the UKU control panel to attach it to the wall.
    • Attach the back cover to the wall so that the upper edge of the control panel is at eye level.
    • Connect the power cable with the screw terminal of the device.
    • Attach the device to the back cover that has been placed on the wall. Secure it with screws from the sides.
  • With a plastic housing

    • Connect the power cable with the cable screws of the UKU control panel.
    • Pull off the control panel control knob.
    • Attach the device with screws to the wall.
    • Replace the control knob to the control panel.
  • MAIN MODULE 2

    • When installing inside the steam room, the enclosure should be placed 4-19.7 in (10-50 cm) above the floor.
    • Fix the unit to the wall with 4 screws.
    • Do not attach the main module to the ceiling or inclined surfaces.
    • Connect the cables of the UKU control panel, temperature sen-sor, and door switch through a cable gland to the enclosure and main module, see figure.
    • Connect the power cable (240V 2(N)~) of the control console through the cable glands to the main module, see figure.
  • DOOR SENSOR 3
The door switch consists of two parts: a sensor and a magnet.

    • Connect the cable ends to the terminals of the switch.
    • Secure the magnet to the door. It must allow the door to close and pass directly by the doorpost.
    • Secure the sensor to the doorpost so that when the door closes, the sensor is aligned with the magnet. The maximum distance between the parts of the door switch must be 0.2 in (5 mm) when the door is closed.
  • TEMPERATURE SENSOR WITH OVERHEATING PROTECTION 4

    • Connect the cable to the temperature sensor’s plug, see figure.
    • Screw the temperature sensor onto the wall, see figure.
    • The temperature sensor cannot be placed above the heater, it must be at least 19.7 in (50 cm) away from it.
    • The temperature sensor must be 5.9-7.9 in (15-20 cm) from the ceiling.
    • The temperature sensor must be at least 19.7 in (50 cm) from any air opening (ventilation, door, window).
  • VAPORIZER 5

    • A vaporizer is connected to outputs SL and SN as shown in the figure. If a vaporizer is connected, a vaporizer function must also be selected from the control console settings. See User instructions.
NB! When connecting the control console with an electrical heater with a vaporizer function ensure that the water tank is always filled with water. When the water tank is empty, the vaporizer function is disabled and there is a risk that the heating element may burn out.
  • CONNECTION OF A LIGHTING SYSTEM 7

    • Lighting/ventilation can be connected to the outputs LL and LN of the control console as shown in the figure. In that case, it is possible to switch on/off the connected lighting/ventilation sys- tem from the control console.
    • To use a lighting function, the lighting function must be selected from the control console settings. See User instructions.
    • The maximum power of lighting/ventilation system is 120V 50W.
  • Connecting the WIFI controller to the network

    • Wifi modem complies with 802.11 b / g / n standard.
    • The controller is only compatible with 2.4 GHz networks. The connection will fail if your 5 GHz network is with the same name as 2.4 GHz one.
    • The controller doesn’t support WiFi names longer than 20 cha- racters.
    • With the UKU control panel go to the settings menu (hold down button 10s).
    • Go to “WIFI settings”.
