Requirements
All smartphones from iOS 13 and Android 11 versions are compatible with the
device. However, in order to get the best experience, you need to have the
latest software version available on your phone. Also, make sure you have the
wireless versions of the “Android Auto” and/or “Apple CarPlay” apps.
For Android users, it is necessary to download the Android Auto app before you
can use your EyeRide. Make sure you also have the “Wireless” Android Auto”
option enabled.
This step is not necessary for iOS users, as Apple CarPlay is already natively
present on your phone.
Activating Wi-Fi and Bluetooth is mandatory to use your EyeRide.
Remember to fully charge your EyeRide before you connect for the first time. A
low battery will cause connection problems.
We recommend using a standard smartphone charger (5V/2A output, approximately
10W) with a USB-C cable. For optimal charging, leave your EyeRide on charge
for 3-4 hours or overnight before use.

before use.
Caution: If you use a charger that is too powerful, such as a laptop
charger (approximately 45W), it may cause irreversible damage to your product!
This type of damage is not covered by the warranty.
A charger with less power than 2A will take longer to charge EyeRide or may
cause battery life and charging problems.
Activate and configure your phone’s Voice Assistant (Google Assistant for
Android phones and Siri for iPhones).
Using the central button of the external module
The central button of the external module allows you to perform a certain
number of actions.
Here is a complete list:
- Turn on your EyeRide: press for about two seconds
- Turn off your EyeRide: press for about five seconds
- Activate your Voice Command: press for about two seconds
- Pause/resume music, pick up/hang up a call: one click
- Decline an incoming call: two clicks
Connecting EyeRide to your smartphone
The first pairing may take more than a minute, so please be patient!
Please note: For Android users, before following the steps below, you will
need to download and launch the Android Auto and/or Android Auto for phone
screen applications depending on your Android phone version.
For iPhone users, Apple CarPlay is natively present.
To pair EyeRide to your smartphone you will need to:
- Enable WiFi on your phone without selecting a network. (Make sure you are not connected to an existing WiFi network to avoid creating connection conflicts).
- Turn on your EyeRide by pressing the central button on the external box. The LEDs will light up in a circular sequence and the Eyelights logo will appear in the prism: your EyeRide is turned on and in pairing mode.
- Go to your Bluetooth settings, enable it, and select your EyeRide from the list of available devices. Use the device “EyeRide-xxxxxx” (not the one named “EyeRide_xxxxx”)
- Your smartphone will ask you for permission to pair: accept it*.
- After a few seconds, Android Auto or Apple CarPlay will appear in your prism, so all you have to do is set your route and hit the road!
*At this stage, for some phone models like the Huawei P30 the following message may appear:
In this case, it is very important that you select Cancel, otherwise, your
internet connection will be cut off once you pair with your EyeRide.
On your next trip, we recommend that you turn on your EyeRide before getting
equipped. This will give it time to pair with your smartphone before you hit
the road.
Please note: there is no need to select a Wi-Fi network, as pairing is done
automatically via Bluetooth.

Setup your EyeRide
CAUTION: Do not pull on the video cable, it’s a delicate and very fragile element.
First, it is essential to clean the surfaces on which you wish to apply the self-adhesive film. Once the surface is clean, remove the protective film from the adhesive and apply it to the desired location. Please refer to the instructions below for the best possible installation.
Please note: the prism is a sensitive optical element and should be cleaned
with a soft cloth only. A dirty prism will drastically alter the virtual
reality experience
offered by the EyeRide.
The installation is in three parts, the optical module, the external module, and the audio kit. To guide you as well as possible, here is the link to the installation video: https://eyelights.com/pages/support
Step one : Installing the optical module
Start by removing the cheek protection foams from your helmet and detach only
the lower part of the cap. Attach the optical module in the left area of your
helmet (helmet facing you) using the self-adhesive film provided. Apply strong
pressure to the film for about two minutes.
We recommend that you do not use your product for 24 hours after this step in order to ensure an optimal stickiness of the adhesive.
For helmets with a sun visor, position and secure the wedge between the inside
of the sun visor and the inner cap. To benefit from a better level of
fixation, we advise you to also use the second adhesive provided by placing it
on the vertical part of the wedge.
If your helmet does not have a sun visor: just place the wedge between the
internal foam and the shell of your helmet. It’s quite simple, no need to add
another adhesive, it sticks on its own.
In both cases, bring the horizontal part of the wedge into the abutment
against the helmet shell. Make sure to leave enough slack in the cable
connecting the two modules so that you can make adjustments later. (the ribbon
cable is very fragile and would not tolerate being stretched, twisted or
pinched).
Step two: Mounting the external module
The external module, like the prism, will be placed on the right side of the
helmet. Remove the protective film of the 3M adhesive then place the module
where you want it and
apply pressure for about 2 minutes then let the adhesive stick for about 24
hours.
Step three: audio kit installation
Install the flat speaker of the audio kit in the dedicated spots and hide the
cables under the foams. To properly orient the directional microphone, the
small white arrow mark must face your mouth.
Prism adjustment
If it is not already done, turn on the product and connect it to display the
Apple CarPlay or Android Auto menu into the prism.
You can find the position of your prism by using the two main settings as
below to view the menu in the way that suits you best.
The internal module has a double adjustment system, consisting of a slider to
allow it to slide horizontally, and a double ball-and-socket joint rod to
adjust the angle and depth. This allows you to easily find the layout that
best suits you.
**** Make sure to secure the wedge with your hand during this very first installation because the double-sided tape will not have had time to polymerize yet. This precaution is only necessary during the first installation.
Launch a navigation
There are multiple ways to start navigation on your EyeRide,
- Before connecting to your EyeRide, set up your route on your phone using your favorite GPS application (Google Maps, Waze, Map… )
- Turn on and pair your EyeRide
- Your route will appear in your prism
Another method is to use your voice command,
- Once you’re paired with your EyeRide, press the button on your external module (or your Bluetooth button) for about 2 seconds to trigger your Voice Assistant
- Say your destination, “New Destination, XXX Street”.
- The navigation will then launch with the default app set up in Android Auto or Apple CarPlay
You can change the default navigation app via the icon below in the Android Auto main menu before pairing to your EyeRide.
Tip : If you are using Apple Carplay you will only have to specify the
name of the application you want using Siri. For example “Take me to Toulouse
with Waze”.
Switching applications is also possible at any time using the advanced mode of
the Smart controller!
Bluetooth Remote version 1 – (optional)
If you have a Bluetooth remote control for your EyeRide, read these few lines
to know its features!
To connect it to the Captain Rider application, it’s very simple. Open the
application and log in.
Then click on the settings icon at the top left of the menu and select the
Bluetooth option.
Click on ‘Connect my remote’ and then press and hold the button on the remote
control until the indicator light turns green.
This step is necessary only for the first connection. The Bluetooth remote
will automatically connect to the application the next time you use it.
Here is the complete list of features of your Bluetooth remote control :
Press and hold will trigger the voice command.
A simple click allows you to pause or resume your music.
Double clicks allows you to validate an action
When you receive a call, one-click is all it takes to pick up or hang up, and two clicks to decline the call.

Smart Controller
The Smart Controller is our second-generation Bluetooth remote control. It
will make your experience even more immersive by giving you the ability to
navigate Android Auto and Apple Car Play menus, select your favorite music,
adjust the sound and brightness of the prism, and more!
We recommend that you not make these adjustments while riding.
EyeRide Battery Life and Charging
For maximum battery life, we recommend using a standard smartphone charger
(5V/2A output, or about 10W) with a USB-C cable. Leave your EyeRide on charge
for 3-4 hours or overnight(before use.
Depending on your usage, the battery life of EyeRide may be significantly
different from one motorcycle ride to the next.
Particularly energy-intensive actions are powering up, booting up, making
calls, and repeated use of the system such as voice commands.
You can extend the EyeRide’s runtime by connecting a battery to it via a USB-C
cable.
