CO2 Sensor
User manual

Foreword
Read this document carefully before use.
This document provides all the information required for the safe and effective functioning of the CO2 sensor. In this document, this is referred to as “the control unit”. The control unit is subject to continuous development and improvement. Therefore, the control unit may differ slightly from the description.

The following pictograms are used in this manual:

Questions
Please contact the supplier if you have any questions or want to request a manual. The contact details are provided at the back of this document.

Safety

The control may only be used once it has been properly installed as per the instructions and guidelines in the installation manual of the control unit.
The control unit may be used by: children of 8 years and older; persons with a physical disability; persons with a sensory impairment; persons with a mental disability and persons with limited experience and knowledge, as long as they are under supervision or have received instruction about the safe use of the control unit and are aware of the risks involved.
Children must not be allowed to play with the unit control.
Children must not clean and maintain the unit control unsupervised.  Set the ventilation to automatic or higher when the yellow or red CO2indicator lights up.

Operating principles

If multiple control units are available in the home, then the ventilation system applies the highest ventilation setting.

Function: CO2
The control unit is designed to monitor indoor CO2
levels. Depending on the indoor CO2 levels detected, the control unit sends a signal to the ventilation system to provide extra ventilation. If indoor CO2 levels exceed permitted CO2 concentrations, then the ventilation volume is gradually increased to reduce indoor CO2 levels. As soon as the indoor CO2 level is below the desired level again, the ventilation volume is gradually reduced to the normal ventilation volume.

Temporary function: 3-position switch .
In some cases, in addition to automatically controlling the ventilation system, the control unit can also function as a temporary 3-position switch. In this case, the measured CO2
value has no effect on the ventilation.
The control unit then only transmits the ventilation level set to the ventilation system.
The control unit automatically returns to the CO2 function after 12 hours.

Warranty and certification

The manufacturer offers a warranty period of 24 months after installation, up to a maximum of 30 months after the date of manufacture of the control unit. The warranty will be voided if:

  • The installation has not been carried out according to the applicable regulations.
  • Defects are caused by incorrect connection, incompetent use, or contamination of the CO2 sensor.
  • Parts not supplied by the manufacturer have been used, or repairs have been carried out by unauthorized persons.

Dismantling and removal.
The costs of disassembly and assembly on-site are not covered by the warranty provisions. This also applies to normal wear and tear. The manufacturer reserves the right to modify the design and/or configuration of its products at any time without incurring the obligation to modify previously delivered products.
Make sure the unit is disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner. Do not dispose of the control unit with your domestic waste.

EEC declaration of conformity

The unit is CE approved and manufactured in:

If the selected key is not pressed for 30 seconds while no mode is confirmed, the unit returns to the normal operating mode. No changes are saved.

1| | Display of the manually selected ventilation level PRESET 1 on the control unit. Use if you require low ventilation.
2| | Display of the manually selected ventilation level PRESET 2 on the control unit. Use if you require normal ventilation.
3| | Display of the manually selected ventilation level PRESET 3 (BOOST) on the control unit.
Use if you require maximum ventilation.
4| | Display of the CO2 levels.
Off: Brightness is off: Press the operating button once.
| Green: Good air quality.
CO2 levels are lower than 1200 ppm.
| Orange: Average air quality.
CO2 levels are between 1200 and 1,500 ppm.
| Red: Poor air quality.
CO2 levels are higher than 1,500 ppm.

A number of important conditions must  be met to ensure the ventilation system functions properly:

  • Do not place objects such as for example cabinets in front of the control unit.
  • Ensure a sufficient supply of air. For example, open a small window or any trickle vent in a window, window frame, or sliding door.
  • If the home is fitted with non-lockable air openings, such as trickle vents above the windows or gaps under doors, then leave these open. Do not cover or block them.
  • Ensure that there is no powered extractor hood connected to the ventilation system.

4.1 Setting ventilation level
A manual ventilation mode cannot be set on all control units. This is only possible on a control unit set by the installer as the main control unit or as a CO2 controller.
In manual ventilation mode, ventilation is not controlled on the basis of the CO2 levels.

A manual ventilation mode remains active for up to 12 hours.

  1. If indicators are on full: Press the operating button briefly.
    – The indicators will fully light up.

  2. Briefly press the operating button to select a different ventilation level.

  3. Repeat step 2 until the indicators of the desired ventilation level light up.

If only the CO2 indicator is lit, the control unit is set to automatic ventilation.

4.2 Setting brightness
The brightness of the indicators can be set to the following levels: bright, high, medium, low, warning, or off.
The default setting is: warning – the CO2 indicator only shows increased CO2 level or malfunction alerts.

  1. Press the operating button for 5 seconds.
    – All the indicators flash green 3x.
    – The bottom (RF) or middle (0-10 V) indicator in the right column flashes red.

  2. Briefly press the operating button within 30 seconds.
    – The top indicator in the right column flashes red.

  3. Press the operating button for 5 seconds.
    – All the indicators flash green 3x.

  4. Briefly press the operating button to select a different brightness level. 5. Repeat step 4 until the indicators of the desired brightness light up.

  5. Press the operating button for 5 seconds.
    – All the indicators flash green 3x.

Maintenance

Regularly remove dust from the control unit with a dry duster or a vacuum cleaner.
Do not clean using water.
Ensure that the maintenance of the associated ventilation system is also carried out as stated in the relevant manual.

Malfunctions

Check your ventilation system regularly for malfunctions. These are not displayed by the control unit.

The RF versions of the control unit are equipped with the following communication-oriented error messages:
The system should remain connected to its power supply unless the ventilation system needs to be taken out of service due to a serious malfunction or another compelling
reason. This prevents moisture and mold problems in the home.

Solution

---|---|---

The CO2 indicator flashes red 3x. The selected mode flashes 3x. The original model is then displayed continuously.

| An operating action has been performed, but communication is not possible.| 1. Remove objects that could hinder wireless communication.
2. Try to change the setting again.
The CO2 indicator flashes red continuously.| The CO2 level is too high, the signal is complete, but there is no communication.|

1. Remove objects that could hinder wireless communication.
2. Ensure adequate air quality by opening windows and doors.
