Pour fresh water in the bowl until 0.5 cm below the rim, then add one sachet of minerals.

Secure the chosen plant cups in the lid and place it on top of the bowl.

Remove the stickers of the plant cups.

Put the plastic cap on top of the lid, so it covers the plant cups.
This protects the plants during the germination phase. After the germination phase the cap can be removed.

Switch on the lamp by pressing the power button. For optimal growth we advise to start with the 20H mode. The light mode can be adjusted by pressing multiple times on the power button.

Check the water level regularly in the bowl (we advise to do so every 4 days). When the plants are fully grown, you can start harvesting.

THE BASICS

minerals

In addition to water and light, plants also need minerals in order to grow We pressed these minerals into two small pills. This amount is just enough for the growth of plants in one bowl. Make sure you add the pills before securing the plant cups in the lid. The mineral pills are always packed in pairs and can be found in every package. Open the sachet, add the pills to the bowl, then add water and start growing  your own greens!

growing times

Some plants grow faster than others, you will notice this immediately during the germination of the seed. For each plant we stated the times of germination and growth on its flyer. The rule of thumb is that the roots of the plant must appear out of the bottom of the plug or pad, before you can remove the plastic cap from the lid. It’s not an issue if your plants grow differently than indicated on   the   flyer,   this is just the beauty of nature. The growing process may depend on the temperature. We recommend to keep your PlantHome in a room with a temperature between 18-22°C for optimal growth.

lighting

Your PlantHome has three light settings, you can select them by pushing the power button on the left side of the panel. The light setting for 20H is for optimal growth. It is also the brightest setting. The light will stay on for 20 hours and will shut off for 4 hours before it turns back on. You won’t have to set a timer, the PlantHome will take care of that part for you. The 12H and 8H hour settings will provide softer light for a shorter period of time. We recommend to use these settings when the plants are fully grown (this is at least one week after the germination phase). The settings will reduce the growing speed of the plant.

cups

Use the stickers of the plant cup and place it on the lid of the bowl once you have filled the bowl with water and minerals. You can write the start date of the plant growth on the sticker and place it next to the cups. This will definitely come in handy. The box containing the remaining cups can be stored at room temperature.

pads

After filling the bowl with water and minerals you can lay the pad in the cover lid. Place the sticker on the bowl and write the start date of your plant growth. This will definitely come in handy. The box containing the remaining pads can be stored at room temperature.Remove the foil from the pad.

germination phase

During the first phase of plant growth it is important to leave the plastic caps over the plants. See the steps on page 6/7 and 8/9 on how to set up your plant cups and pads. The plastic cap needs to support the plants during the entire germination phase. The germination time can vary between plant types, which are shown on the flyers you received with the box.

planning

The time of growth can vary between plant types, but also the envrionment where the PlantHome is placed can have an effect on the growth. An environment with lower temperatures will cause the plants to grow slower. It is not an issue if your plants grow differently than indicated on the flyer. Always make sure there are enough plugs in the lid so you can transfer them for maximum utilization of the set.

growing time cups

The total growing time of the plant cups can vary between plant types and will take up to 5/6 weeks. The germination time takes 2 to 3 weeks approximately, this also depends on the plant type. The specific times for growth and germination are provided on the flyers.

growing time pads

The total growing time of the plant pads can vary between 2 to 3 weeks. The germination time takes a few days approximately, however this always depends on the plant type. The specific times for germination and growth are provided on the flyers.

water refill

Check the water level every four days and start filling up the bowl when it’s about one third empty. Refill the water and do not add any extra minerals as this can disrupt the growing process. During the
germination phase you don’t have to worry about refilling the bowl with water. During the final growth phase, the water consumption of the plant will increase. In any case, please prevent the roots from running dry by keeping an eye on the plants

harvest

Each flyer gives an indication on the time your plant should be fully grown and ready to harvest. However, you can always start harvesting a little earlier if you want. Feel free to harvest everything at once or pick some leaves from time to time. If you want to make use of the PlantHome more efficiently, you can re-locate fully grown plants on top of the set or the windowsill. This will create available space in your PlantHome, so you’re able to grow something new. When you do this, plants will receive less light, which means they will continue to grow slowly outside the PlantHome.
