Proper Use

The cordless drywall power sander is intended for sanding off plaster-finished drywalls, ceilings and interior masonry, and for removing wall-paper residues, paint, coverings, adhesive residues and loose plaster. It can also be used for sanding off floors. The equipment is to be used only for its prescribed purpose. Any other use is deemed to be a case of misuse. The user / operator and not the manufacturer will be liable for any damage or injuries of any kind caused as a result of this. Please note that our equipment has not been de-signed for use in commercial, trade or industrial applications. Our warranty will be voided if the machine is used in commercial, trade or industrial businesses or for equivalent purposes.

Before Starting the Equipment

Warning! Always remove the battery pack before making adjustments to the equipment.

Assembling the drywall sander (Fig. 2)
Take the drywall sander out of the packaging, unfold it and secure with the locking hook (11). Make sure that the locking hook (11) engages correctly.

Fitting the telescopic extension (Fig. 3)
Insert the telescopic extension (4) into the opening (a) on the equipment and lock it with the locking lever for the telescopic extension (3).

Note: Adjust the drywall power sander with the telescopic extension (4) so that you can work with it most comfortably. Observe the „Max“ mark on the telescopic extension: This must not be exceeded.

Dust extraction
Important!
Connect the adapter to a dust extraction system or a vacuum cleaner. This will provide excellent extraction of chips and dust.
Connecting the dust extractor hose (Fig. 4 / Item 6)

  1.  Insert the dust extractor hose (6) into the opening (b) in the telescopic extension (4)
  2.  Lock the hose by turning the ring (c) as shown in Fig. 4

Dust is extracted directly through the abrasive paper and the sanding head (8).

Connecting the dust extractor adapter for an external dust extraction system (Fig. 5 / Item 7)

  1. Slide the dust extractor adapter (7) on to the dust extractor hose (6).
  2. Lock the dust extractor adapter (7) by turning it as shown in Fig. 5

Connecting the dust catch bag (Figs. 6-8 / Item 12)

  1. Slide the dust catch bag (12) on to the dust extractor hose (6).

  2. Lock the dust catch bag (12) by turning it as shown in Fig. 6
    To seal the dust catch bag (12) so that it is dust-tight, proceed as follows (Fig. 7)

  3. Close the dust catch bag (12)

  4. Roll it up as far as the white line

  5. Connect the quick-release lock together.
    To open the dust catch bag (12), proceed in re-verse order. (Fig. 8)
    Caution! For health safety reasons it is imperative that you use a dust extractor.

Fastening the grinding/sanding paper (Fig. 9)
The hook-and-loop fastener enables easy changing of the abrasive paper. Make sure that the vacuum extraction holes on the abrasive paper and the sanding head (8) are aligned.

Lock for ceiling work (Fig. 10 / Item 9)
The sanding head (8) can be locked in such a way that the sanding surface always faces up-wards.  This makes it easy to position it on the ceiling.
To lock the sanding head (8) in this way, attach the rubber clip (9b) to the provided hook (9a) as shown in Fig. 10.

Perimeter work (Fig. 11)
For perimeter work, remove the cover (d) as shown in Fig. 11 and turn the housing of the san-ding head (8) into the required position.

Charging the Li battery pack (Fig. 12-13)

  1.  Remove the battery pack (e) from the handle, pressing the push lock button (f) downwards to do so.

  2. Check that your mains voltage is the same as that marked on the rating plate of the battery charger. Insert the power plug of the charger
    (i) into the socket outlet. The green LED will then begin to fl ash.

  3. Push the battery pack (e) onto the battery charger.

In section 10 (Charger indicator) you will fi nd a table with an explanation of the LED indicator on the charger. If the battery pack fails to charge, check for the following:

  •  voltage at the power socket
  • whether there is good contact at the charging contacts of the charging unit If the battery pack still fails to charge, send
  • the charger and charging adapter and the battery pack to our customer service center.

To ensure that items are properly packaged and delivered when you send them to us, please contact our customer service or the point of sale at which the equipment was purchased. When shipping or disposing of batteries and cordless tools, always ensure that they are packed individually in plastic bags to prevent short circuits and fires. To ensure that the battery pack provides long service, you should take care to recharge it promptly. You must recharge the battery pack when you notice that the performance of the device drops. Never allow the battery pack to become fully discharged. This will cause it to develop a defect.

  • Battery charge level indicator (Fig. 12/ Item g)
    Press the button for the battery charge level indicator (h). The battery charge level indicator (g) will indicate the charge status of the battery by means of 3 LEDs.

  • All 3 LEDs are lit:
    The battery is fully charged.

  • 2 or 1 LED(s) are lit:
    The battery has an adequate remaining charge.

  • 1 LED fl ashes:
    The battery is empty, recharge the battery.

  • All LEDs blink:
    The battery temperature is too low. Remove the battery from the equipment, keep it at room temperature for one day. If the fault reoccurs, this means that the rechargeable battery has undergone exhaustive discharge and is defective. Remove the battery from the equipment. Never use or charge a defective battery.

Operation

On/Off switch (Fig. 14/Item 1)
Switching on:
Push the unlocking/locking lever (j) forward and press the On/Off switch (1).
Locking:
With the unlocking/locking lever (j) pressed, let go of the On/Off switch (1)
Switching off:
Press the On/Off switch (1) briefly and then let go.
Speed controller (Fig. 14/Item 2)
You can select the speed by turning the speed controller (2) .
Plus direction:
Higher speed
Minus direction: Lower speed

Working with the drywall power sander

  • Place the whole surface area of the sanding head on the material.
  •  Switch on the machine and move it with gentle pressure over the workpiece, making circular or transverse and linear movements.
  •  Use a coarse grit for coarse sanding and a finer grit for finish sanding. You can find the best grit size for the job by carrying out san-ding tests.

Caution! The dusts which are formed while the equipment is being used may be a health hazard:

  • Always wear safety goggles and a dust mask during sanding work.
  • All persons who work with the equipment or enter the workplace must wear a protective dust mask.
  •  Eating, drinking and smoking are prohibited at the workplace.
  •  Paints containing lead are not allowed to be used!

Swiveling sanding head
The sanding head can be swiveled in two axes, enabling comfortable sanding even overhead and in tight spaces.

Cleaning, maintenance and ordering spare parts

Hazard!
Always pull out the battery pack before starting any cleaning work.

Cleaning
  • Keep all safety devices, air vents and the motor housing free of dirt and dust as far as possible. Wipe the equipment with a clean cloth or blow it with compressed air at low pressure.
  •  We recommend that you clean the device immediately each time you have finished using it.
  • Clean the equipment regularly with a moist cloth and some soft soap. Do not use cleaning agents or solvents; these could at-tack the plastic parts of the equipment. Ensure that no water can seep into the device. The ingress of water into an electric tool increases the risk of an electric shock.
Maintenance

There are no parts inside the equipment which require additional maintenance.

Disposal and recycling
The equipment is supplied in packaging to pre-vent it from being damaged in transit. The raw materials in this packaging can be reused or recycled. The equipment and its accessories are made of various types of material, such as metal and plastic. Never place defective equipment in your household refuse. The equipment should be taken to a suitable collection center for proper disposal. If you do not know the whereabouts of such a collection point, you should ask in your local council offices.
Storage
Store the equipment and accessories in a dark and dry place at above freezing temperature. The ideal storage temperature is between 5 and 30 °C. Store the electric tool in its original packaging.

Charging

The unit then changes over to gentle charging mode until the battery is fully charged. To do this, leave the rechargeable battery on the charger for approx. 15 minutes longer. Action: Take the battery pack out of the charger. Disconnect the charger from the mains supply.
Flashing| Off|
Adapted charging
** The charger is in gentle charging mode. For safety reasons the charging is performed less quickly and takes more time. The reasons can be:

  • The rechargeable battery has not been used for a very long time.
  • The battery temperature is outside the ideal range.

Action: Wait for the charging to be completed; you can still continue to charge the battery pack.

Flashing| Flashing| Fault Charging is no longer possible. The battery pack is defective.

Action: Never charge a defective battery pack. Take the battery pack out of the charger.

On| On| Temperature fault The battery pack is too hot (e.g. due to direct sunshine) or too cold (below 0° C).
Action: Remove the battery pack and keep it at room temperature (approx. 20° C) for one day .

For EU countries only
Never place any electric power tools in your household refuse.
To comply with European Directive 2012/19/EC concerning old electric and electronic equipment and its implementation in national laws, old electric power tools have to be separated from other waste and disposed of in an environment-friendly fashion, e.g. by taking to a recycling depot.

Recycling alternative to the return request:
As an alternative to returning the equipment to the manufacturer, the owner of the electrical equipment must make sure that the equipment is properly disposed of if he no longer wants to keep the equipment. The old equipment can be returned to a suitable collection point that will dispose of the equipment in accordance with the national recycling and waste disposal regulations. This does not apply to any accessories or aids without electrical components supplied with the old equipment.
