General Weighing Operation

  1. Place the scale on a hard, level surface.
  2. Press the “ ” button to turn the scale on. The display first shows “8888”, then zero when it is ready for use. If the display does not show zero, press the “ ” button to reset (tare) the scale to zero. The display will show “tArE”, then zero. The scale is ready for use.
  3. Your scale is set at the factory to weigh in pounds/ounces. To switch between pounds/ounces (lb oz), grams (g), fluid ounces (fl:oz), and milliliters (ml), press the “UNIT” button. Measuring liquid ingredients: The liquid measure feature is suitable for all water based liquids, including wine, milk, stock, cream etc. Note: Oils have a lower specific gravity, which will result in a volume reading of approximately +10%. If measuring oils by volume on this scale, please adjust for this accordingly.
  4. Place the item to be weighed on the center of the platform. The weight will display. As you add weight, the weight displayed increases.
  5. The scale will turn off automatically after 3 minutes if there is no change in weight, or after one minute when the weight is removed. Press and hold” ” to turn the scale off manually.

Tare Operation

You may wish to weigh ingredients in a bowl or other container (not included). In this case, you will need to tare, or offset, the weight of the bowl so that only the weight of the ingredients is displayed.

  1. Choose a container that will safely balance on the platform without tipping or falling. Do not use a heavy container, as this might reduce the maximum capacity of the scale.

  2. While the scale is off, place the empty container on the scale platform. Turn the scale on. The display will show “8888” then zero. The weight of the container has been zeroed out.

  3. Add the ingredient to be weighed. The weight of the ingredient alone will display.

  4. The weight of additional ingredients may be tared out as well. For example, if a recipe calls for 1/2 lb rice and 1/2 lb beans, place the rice into the bowl.
Once the correct amount of rice is weighed, press the “ ” button. The scale shows “tArE”, then resets to zero. Add the 1/2 lbs of beans. Both ingredients have been accurately weighed in the same bowl.

  5. When weights have been tared out, the display will show a negative number when the items are removed from the scale. To reset the scale back to zero for a new measurement, press the “ ” button. The scale shows “IArE”, then resets to zero.
