General safety instructions

Safety notice! Failing to follow these instructions can cause an injury to you or other persons.

Please read carefully all instructions before putting the pneumatic appliance into operation. All persons engaged in the operation must be thoroughly informed about safety instructions at using the pneumatic appliances. All servicing works and repairs can only be executed by authorised professionals. Power socket nuts can solely be used for impact tighteners. Never use any other types of socket nuts. Never use power socket nuts with a worn or knocked out driving square. Before each use, please check whether the driving square for power socket nuts and extension or spindle of the impact tightener are not worn or show any hair crack. Before use, make sure the power socket nut is safely attached to the driving square of the appliance. Always take a stable and safe posture and working position before using the appliance. Check whether the power control is set correctly before each use. Wrong setting can lead to break or breakaway of the threaded joint and uncontrollable motions of the appliance. Before putting the appliance into operation, please make sure the change-over valve for right and left run is in a correct position. Do not put the appliance into operation before the power socket nuts are firmly and correctly seated on the screw head or nut. Regularly check the pneumatic hose and all connectors for wear. Use the quick-acting coupling as recommended for assembly only. Carry the appliance with its handle, not the hose. In such cases, your hand must not be near the operating button, either. Do not try to hold or guide the appliance with its rotary power socket nuts. Never exceed the recommended maximum service pressure (6.3 bar) If prescribed, use safety outfit. The appliance is not grounded and insulated against electricity. The appliance can in no case be used at places where there is a possibility of getting into contact with electricity.

When changing the power socket nuts, it is recommended to interrupt the air supply or at least make sure hands were in a sufficiently safe distance from the operating button. Prevent the rotary component of the appliance from getting near or in contact with loose parts of clothes, ties, hair, cleaning cloths, etc. Ensure sufficient space for reverse motion when loosening the threaded joints so that the operating hand could not get jammed as the tool moves along the thread length with the impact tightener in reverse motion when loosening. Use only extensions, adapters and joints that are explicitly allowed to be used with impact tighteners. If the appliance, when in use, shows any signs of irregular working and power it is necessary to stop using it immediately and service or repair the appliance. Do not use any unnecessarily long delivery hoses to prevent falls as a result of trip. Read the compressor’s Operating Instructions and follow safety instructions for using the compressor. ALWAYS wear proved protective glasses and ear protectors. Put away watches, rings and other disturbing items.

Loose pieces of clothes and jewels could get caught in the compressor and thus cause serious injuries. The operating button must not be used when the appliance is being connected to the air supply. Disconnect the appliance from air supply if not used. NEVER replace any parts of accessories and SERVICE when the appliance is connected to the air supply. Take a safe posture. Make sure you did not lose your balance. When working with the appliance, ensure your hands could freely move to guarantee safe working. Use the appliance at a speed for which it has been designed only. Look after the appliance carefully and follow all instructions for lubrication and maintenance of the appliance. Do not damage the hoses and couplings by carrying the appliance with its hose and do not damage the hose by disconnecting it from the air supply by pulling. Prevent the hose from getting into contact with excessive temperatures, oil and sharp edges. The hose needs to be replaced if damaged or worn. Store the cleaning cloths and other combustible material in sealed metal containers. These containers must be disposed according to local, national and regional provisions. When the appliance is operated the air pressure MUST NOT exceed 6.3 bar. Use a pressure regulator that will reduce the air pressure to 6.3 bar. ALWAYS use the appliance in a safe distance from people and animals. Make sure the speed of rotating of accessories parts corresponded to the speed of rotating of the impact tightener or was higher.

Before starting

Air supply
Important information on the appliance can be found in model specifications. Lubricate the appliance before putting it into operation (see the Maintenance part).
Assembly
Always disconnect the air supply hose when you want to assemble socket nuts or extensions on the appliance or disassemble them from the appliance.

Operation

Safety notice! Wear protective glasses! Wear ear protectors!

Always empty water from the compressor tank and blow condensation out of the air hose before everyday operation. Now start your compressor. The maximum service pressure of air is 6.3 bar. The power (torque) of impact tighteners under primary working conditions is especially determined by three factors:

  • service pressure used
  • time of working step on the threaded joint. A normal work time for a threaded joint is 3-5 seconds on average.
  • the setting of the switching lever, in relation to the threaded joint in proportion to the impact time. Due to the use of threads and materials of various hardness, there is increased friction, which causes higher torque without the thread being tightened more firmly. At rust-stained threaded joints, use appropriate agents dissolving rust before using the impact tightener. If the threaded joints still fail to unloose after 3 to 5 seconds of impact time it is necessary to use one lever bigger impact tightener. Do not overload the impact tightener above the specified power limit as it dramatically shortens the service life of the appliance. NOTE: The tightening torque on the threaded joint is directly connected with the thread firmness, appliance revolutions, condition of the power socket nuts used, and time of use of the impact tightener at the given screwing. Use as direct and simple a connection between the appliance and power socket nut as possible. Any extra connection and extension absorb and reduce the power.

Maintenance and treatment

Lubrication

  1. Disconnect the impact tightener from air supply.
  2. Add 4-6 drops of GUDE pneumatic oil, Order No. 40060 (we recommend the GÜDE mist lubricator, Order No. 41354) or corresponding oil to air inlet with the starter being pressed.
  3. Now reconnect the appliance with air supply and leave it run for app. 30 seconds so that the surplus oil flowed out.

This lubricating process corresponds to the reduction of humidity, dust and impurities that are in course of time deposited, when the appliance is used, in each compressor and thus reduce its power. This is best prevented by integrated oil tanks.

Warning

Safety notice! Leaked oil can cause serious injuries. Cover the top of oil outlet after cloth greasing and leave the appliance run for several seconds so that surplus oil could safely flow out. Keep the cloth in a safe distance from the rotary parts! The air hose must be disassembled and larger volume of pneumatic oil poured to the air inlet each three months or if the impact tightener is used only sometimes. Reconnect the air hose and leave the impact tightener run for app. 30 seconds so that the compressor engine was cleaned. Follow the lubrication instructions after cleaning.

Disposal

Problem Possible cause Solving the problem
Impact tightener is not working or is running slowly Insufficient air
pressure Check the air pressure on the air

inlet. It must be 6.3 bar.

Air pressure set low| Increase the pressure to 6.3 bar
Impact tightener must be oil- lubricated| See the Maintenance and Treatment
Impact tightener must be cleaned| See the Maintenance and Treatment
Air hose not tight| Tighten all hose screwed joints

Disposal instructions are illustrated in the form of pictograms on the device or packaging. A description of the pictograms is given in the “Identification” chapter. Disposal of transport packaging Packaging protects the device against damage during transport. Packaging materials are usually selected according to their effect on the environment and disposal methods and can therefore be recycled.
Returning of the packaging back to circulation saves resources and costs for packaging disposal. Parts of the packaging (e.g. foil, styropor) may be dangerous for children. Risk of suffocation! Keep these parts of the packaging out of reach of children and dispose of as soon as possible.

Emergency Action

Apply the first aid adequate to the injury and get qualified medical assistance as quickly as possible. Protect the injured person from more accidents and calm him/her down. For the sake of eventual accident, in accordance with DIN 13164, a workplace has to be fitted with a first-aid kit. It is essential to replace any used material in the first-aid kit immediately after it has been used. If you seek help, state the following pieces of information:

  1. Accident site
  2. Accident type
  3. Number of injured persons
  4. Injury type(s)
