Important safety instructions

  • These devices can be used by children older than eight years old as well as by persons with limited physical, sensory or mental capabili-ties, persons lacking experience and/or lacking knowledge if they are supervised or have received instructions regarding how the device is to be used safely and have understood the resulting risks. Children must not play with the device. Children must not perform the cleaning and user maintenance, unless they are older than eight years old and are supervised.
  • Children shall not play with the device.
  •  Keep the device and its cable out of the reach of children under eight years old.
  • Never immerse the appliance in water.
  •  If the appliance’s connection cable is damaged then it must be replaced by the manufacturer’s central customer service department or by a similarly qualified person. Improper repairs may constitute a serious threat for users.
  •  Clean after use all surfaces, which have got in contact with food. Follow the notes in chapter „Cleaning and care“.
  • Caution: risk of burns! Accessible surfaces can become very hot during and after used. The heating surfaces remain hot for some time after the appliance has been switched off.
  • Only use the appliance with provided jug and attachement.
  • Do not operate the appliance without jug or run emty.
  • Improper use may result in electric shocks or other hazards.

Prior to use

Read the operating manual carefully. It contains important information about the use, safety and maintenance of the appliance. It should be kept in a safe place and passed on to further users if appropriate. The device may only be used for the intended purpose according to these operating instructions. This device is meant to be used in the household and for similar applications, such as:

  • in kitchens, for employees in shops, offices and other commercial areas;
  • on agricultural property;
  • from customers in hotels, motels and other residential facilities; ⋅ in bed and breakfasts establishments.

The appliance is not designed for sole commercial use. Observe the safety instructions during use.

Safety instructions

  • Only connect the device to properly installed earthed sockets. The wire and plug must be dry.
  • Do not pull the connecting cable over sharp edges or clamp it. Do not let it hang down and protect it from heat and oil.
  •  Never disconnect the mains plug from the socket by the cord or with wet hands.
  •  Stop using the appliance and/or connect it from the mains plug immediately if:
    • The appliance or mains cable is damaged;
    •  the device is not leak-proof;
    •  there is any suspicion of a fault after dropping the appliance or similar. In such cases, send the appliance to be repaired.
  • Do not place the appliance on hot surfaces, such as hot plates or similar, or near open flames. It could melt.
  •  Do not place the device on water-sensitive surfaces. Spray may damage them.
  • Never operate the appliance unattended.
  • Do not switch on the device without milk.
  • Take the jug for filling from the base.
  • The lid must be placed on the jug during operation.
  • To protect against overheating, the device switches off automatically if the jug is empty. Even so, please avoid switching the device on without adding milk.
  • Use the device only to heat or foam milk or prepare hot chocolate.
  • The device is not intended for warming or thickening puddings, soups or sauces or for whipping cream, egg whites or other foodstuffs. The device is also not intended for mixing solid ingredients such as fruit, spices, herbs, nuts and flour.
  • No liability is accepted for any damage resulting from misuse, incorrect operation or improper repair. Claims under warranty are excluded in such cases.
  • Do not move the device during operation and do not pull on the mains cable.
  • Underside of the jug must be dry before using the appliance.
  • Caution: the device is hot.
  • The mains plug is to be pulled: ⋅ if malfunctions occur during use,
    • before cleaning and care,
    • after use.
  • Packaging material, such as plastic film bags, do not belong in the hands of children.

Initial operation and general information

The induction milk frother is intended for heating and frothing milk and milk substitutes. In general, the following milk types can be used: fresh milk, UHT milk (including from cows, sheep and goats) and lactose-free milk as well as milk substitutes (such as soya milk) with various fat contents. The quality and volume of the milk foam depends on the type and characteristics of the milk being used (e.g. the fat and protein content, temperature, etc.). Prior to initial use, clean the device as described in the section entitled „Cleaning and care.“ Any sur-plus length of the connecting cable can be wound around the bottom of the device‘s base (6). Connect the mains plug to an earthed wall socket.

Preparing milk foam and hot milk:

  • Hold the WMF Milk System (3) by its handle and stand it vertically within the jug. A magnet then holds the WMF Milk System (3) to the fl oor of the jug.
  • Fill the jug (5) with chilled milk, observing the MIN and MAX level indicators (see chart). Do not exceed the indicated maximum, otherwise milk may slosh out during preparation.
  • Stand the jug (5) on the device base (6).
  • Place the lid (1) on the jug (5) and apply slight pressure to ensure that it seals. Ensure that the end  of the handle of the WMF Milk System (3) is positioned within the lid mechanism.
  • Now press the on/off button (7) repeatedly until the LED next to the symbol of the desired programme lights up.
  • Approx. 3 seconds later, the preparation begins automatically. The process may be interrupted at any time by pressing the on/off button (7) again.
  • Once the programme has fi nished, the device switches off automatically and the programme light go out. The on/off button (7) lights up in red.

Note: the device‘s fans may continue to run beyond the end of the programme.

  •  The jug (5) can now be removed from the base (6). To pour out the contents, remove the lid (1) and take out the WMF Milk System (3).

Caution: the jug and handle of the WMF Milk System may be hot!

Preparing hot chocolate:

Note: Use the WMF Choc System for this programme. (Fig B)

  • Hold the WMF Milk System (3) by its handle and stand it vertically within the jug. A magnet then holds the WMF Milk System (3) to the fl oor of the jug.
  •  Fill the jug (5) with chilled milk, observing the MIN and MAX level indicators (see chart). Do not exceed the indicated maximum, otherwise milk may slosh out during preparation.
  •  Stand the jug (5) on the device base (6).
  •  Add crumbled chocolate to the milk. For optimal results, we recommend breaking the chocolate into small chunks. Alternatively, you can use ground or powdered chocolate.
  • Place the lid (1) on the jug (5) and apply slight pressure to ensure that it seals. Ensure that the end of the handle of the WMF Choc System (4) is positioned within the lid mechanism.
  • Press the on/off button (7) repeatedly until the LED next to the „Hot Chocolate“ symbol lights up.
  • Approx. 3 seconds later, the preparation begins automatically. The process may be interrupted at any time by pressing the on/off button (7) again.
  •  Once the programme has fi nished, the device switches off automatically and the programme light go out. The on/off button (7) lights up in red.

Note: the device‘s fans may continue to run beyond the end of the programme.

  •  The jug (5) can now be removed from the base (6). To pour out the contents, remove the lid (1) and take out the WMF Choc System (4).

Caution: the jug and handle of the WMF Choc System (4) may be hot!
Warning: Always place the lid (1) on the device before switching it on. Never remove the lid (1) while the device is running.
Note: Allow the device to cool down before reuse. Clean the device and the WMF Milk&Choc System after each use.

Cleaning and care

  • Clean the device and the WMF Milk&Choc System after each use.
  • Unplug the mains cord and allow the appliance to cool down.
  • The device base (6) is not dishwasher safe and may be cleaned only by wiping down with a damp cloth.
  • The lid (1), WMF Milk/Choc System (3/4) and jug (5) are dishwasher safe. For ease of cleaning, remove the sealing ring (2) from the lid (1) and disassemble the WMF Milk/Choc System into its individual components (see “WMF Milk/Choc System”). We recommend placing smaller components in the cutlery basket.
  • Do not use aggressive cleaners, scouring agents or solvents.

WMF Milk System (3)

  1. To disassemble, unscrew the handle (8) from the DISC bracket (9). Then remove the milk DISC (10).
  2. To reassemble, push the milk DISC (10) into the DISC bracket (9) with the notch facing upwards. Then screw the handle (8) all the way into the DISC bracket (9) from above. The milk DISC (10) is now affi xed fl exibly to the bracket.

WMF Choc System (4)

To prepare hot chocolate, you‘ll need the WMF Choc System (Fig. B).

  • For ease of cleaning, the WMF Choc System can be disassembled into its individual components. To do so, pull the chocolate basket (11) up and out. Unscrew the handle (8) from the DISC bracket (9) and remove the milk DISC (10) from the bracket.
  • To reassemble the WMF Choc System, push the milk DISC (10) into the DISC bracket (9) with the notch facing upwards. Then screw the handle (8) all the way into the DISC bracket (9) from above. The milk DISC (10) is now affi xed fl exibly to the bracket. Next push the chocolate basket (11) onto the handle (8) from above and push down-wards until it clicks into place.

Troubleshooting

The following tips should help you resolve any problems you encounter with your appliance. If not, please contact our central customer service department. Please also note the warranty information.

The milk DISC must be centred on the bracket with the groove facing

Milk doesn’t foam| The milk DISC has not been inserted properly.

The WMF Milk System has not been inserted into the jug properly.

The milk is too warm or has already been foamed once.

We recommend using fresh, cold milk.

For UK use only

  • This product is supplied with a 13 A plug conforming to BS 1363 fitted to the mains lead. If the plug is unsuitable for your socket outlets or needs to be replaced, please note the following. If the plug is a non-rewireable one, cut it from the mains lead and immediately dispose of it. Never insert it into a socket outlet as there is a very great risk of an electric shock.
  • The replacement of the plug at the mains lead has to be done according to the following instruc-tions:

Warning: This appliance must be earthed
Important: The wires in this mains lead are coloured in accordance with the following code:

  • green/yellow: Earth
  • blue: Neutral
  • brown: live

As the colours of the wires in the mains lead of this appliance may not correspond with the coloured markings identifying the terminals in your plug, proceed as follows:

  • the wire which is coloured green and yellow must be connected to the terminal which is marked with the letter E or by the earth symbol , or coloured green or green and yellow,
  • the wire which is coloured blue must be connected to the terminal which is marked the letter N or coloured black,
  •  the wire which is coloured brown must be connected to the terminal which is marked with the letter L or coloured red.
    • If a 13 A (BS 1363) plug is used it must be fitted with a 3 A fuse conforming to BS 1362 and be ASTA approved. If any other type of plug is used, the appliance must be protected by a 5 A fuse either in the plug or adapter or at the distribution board. If in doubt – consult a qualified electrician.
    • Never use the plug without closing the fuse cover.

The appliance complies with European directives 2014/35/EU, 2014/30/EU and 2009/125/EU. At the end of its life, this product may not be disposed of in normal household waste, but must instead be taken to a collection point for recycling electrical and electronic appliances. The materials are recyclable in accordance with their labelling. Reuse, recycling and other ways of reutilising old appliances make an important contribution to protecting our environment. Please ask your local authorities for information about the appropriate disposal point. End users are personally responsible for deleting any personal data that may be stored on appliances they are disposing of.
