BEFORE USE
Read these instructions fully and keep them for future reference. Check
whether the mains voltage in your home corresponds to that of the appliance
(220-240V). Only connect this appliance to an earthed socket. Remove any
stickers. Wash all parts in soapy water before use (except for the heating
base) and rinse thoroughly.
Do not use any sharp objects in the pot or on the heating plate as these may
damage the appliance. Only prick the ingredients with the forks, taking care
not to scratch the pot.
NOTE: The appliance may emit some smoke and a characteristic smell when you
switch it on for the first time.
This is normal and will stop soon.
USE
- Turn the temperature selector to “MIN”. Be sure the splash guard is correctly attached to the pot with the rounded part up. Insert the mains plug into a power socket.
- Fill the pot with oil or fat, broth or cheese. Do not fill below the Min. or above the Max. marking inside the pot. Set the temperature selector to the desired fondue temperature. The indicator light will illuminate and the appliance will heat up.
- Once the desired temperature is reached, you may begin making your fondue.
- Impale dry pieces of food on the fondue forks (we recommend 1 or 2 pieces per fondue fork) and hold them in the fondue liquid until they are cooked. You can place the handles of the fondue fork to the notches provided on the splash guard.
- Once your food have reached the desired level (browned, medium, well done) carefully remove the fondue fork from the pot. Let the excessive liquid drip off the food to avoid any fat splatters.
- When you have finished with the fondue, turn the temperature selector to the lowest setting “MIN”.
- Unplug the power supply after each use.
Note: the thermostat will automatically turn the heat on and off to keep the fondue liquid at the selected temperature. You can see the indicator light goes on and off during the process.
USE WITH OIL OR BROTH
Rotate the temperature selector clockwise to the highest setting “MAX”.
It will take approx. 20-25 minutes to reach the desired temperature, depending
on the amount of oil or broth in the pot.
- When using broth, you will see bubbles forming in the pot (similar to boiling water) indicating that the temperature has been reached.
- When using oil, you can use the handle of a wooden cooking spoon and dip it into the oil. If small – 6 – bubbles form, the oil has reached the temperature.
Only then may you insert the food into the pot using the forks provided.
You may reduce the temperature if the food browns too quickly. Cooking time depends greatly on the size and consistency of the food selected.
USE WITH CHEESE
In order to melt the cheese in the pot, turn the temperature selector to
“MAX“.
Now, melt the cheese by stirring continuously until it is completely melted.
Depending on the amount, this can take a few minutes.
Reduce the temperature in order to prevent cheese sticking to the bottom of the pot. Keep checking with your wooden spoon to see whether the cheese is starting to stick to the bottom of the pot. Keep stirring occasionally and reduce the temperature further if needed.
You can now dip suitable ingredients into the melted cheese.
