AM-AU5-KIT10 Aurora5 Kit10 Radio Module
Radio Model – Quick Installation Guide
Radio Model Name: AM_AU5_KIT10
Aurora5 Kit10 Radio Model – 3D overview
The Aurora5 Kit10 radio model (AM_AU5_KIT10) contains one radio transceiver
running at 3.84 MHz implemented on a single hardware platform.
The radio model is implemented in a module mounted on the main PCB with a
connection to the antennas, telecoil, microphones, speaker, and battery
terminals. The radio model can be seen in 3D overview to the left.
The 3.84 MHz radio is a low-power, short-range inductive radio transceiver
(NFMI – Near Field magnetic Induction)working at a single channel at 3.84 MHz
using MSK modulation with 320 kbit/s data rate and connected to a small coil
antenna wounded on a ferrite core. The antenna gain is less than 0 dBi, due to
the size 1.0 x 0.5 x 5.0 mm. The Aurora5 Kit10 requires only a single cell
Zinc-air size 10 battery, a battery door, a customized plastic shell in order
to be an operational hearing aid. The stack up can create a CIC or an IIC
custom hearing aid host.
The AM-AU5-KIT10 module is tested in a reference host as all I/O, sensors,
acoustic interfaces and antennas are externally mounted around the module. The
reference host represents the worst-case configuration and conditions for the
AM-AU5-KIT10 module. The worst-case host configuration is tested in all
operating modes and an FCC part 15B and ICES-003 is demonstrating the
compliance of the custom host type CIC or IIC. The production performs full
operational tests on all manufactured custom products.
The Aurora5 Kit10 radio model is intended to be installed in Oticon, Bernafon,
Sonic, Philips, and affiliated private labels wireless hearing aid devices of
the Kit10 (Custom designed CIC- Completely In Canal or IIC – Integrated In
Canal) wearing style. The typical size of a host hearing aid is 18 mm x 14
mm x 9.5 mm or less.
The coil antenna has a minimum of 5 mm distance to the skin around the ear.
The coil antenna is always fixed around the battery door and facing away from
the ear. The coil antenna cannot be removed or placed differently when
building the CIC or IIC custom host product.
The custom hearing aids are all label exempted and thus the product label is
placed on the packaging label and the IFU.
