TROUBLESHOOTING
The device does not appear on the app:
- If the camera’s blue LED is not blinking rapidly, tilt the camera up, locate the Reset button, press it with a pin until it beeps, then let go. Wait for the camera to restart and confirm it’s ready to connect. Follow step on pages 7-12.
- Ensure Wi-Fi is enabled on your smartphone.
- Ensure you are connected to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network only.
- Wi-Fi quality can differ due to home factors such as home construction type and interference from other electronic devices. Ensure that the Wi-Fi signal is strong where it is being installed. If not move the router closer or get a Wi-Fi extender.
- Move the device nearer to router during initial pairing. Keep the device in sight of the router for the best signal.
- Check if the router uses MAC filtering. Add the device’s MAC address to the router if needed.
- Most modems/routers support both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands and may use the same Wi-Fi network name (SSID) for both bands. Log into the router’s settings and check:
- Is 2.4GHz band enabled?
- If both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands are using the same SSID, find the settings that allow you to separate the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. Usually, there will be an option to configure each band individually. Change the SSID for one or both bands to make them distinct. For instance, “NetworkName_2.4GHz” and “NetworkName_5GHz”.
- If you are using Telstra Smart Modem, refer to the following guide to resolve band steering issues: https://www.laserco.com.au/Telstra-NBN-Gen-Smart-Modem-Fix
My device is offline:
-
It means the device can’t connect to our server.
-
This could happen if your internet is down, the connection between your camera and our server is weak, or your camera is too far from your Wi-Fi router.
-
Usually, the device will reconnect when your internet is back.
If it stays offline, try:- Turn it off for 10 seconds, then back on.
- Check your internet connection and try restarting your Wi-Fi router if needed.

FAQ:
How to reset Laser SmartHome account password?
- Tap ‘Forgot Password’ on the Sign In screen.
- Enter the email address you used to sign up.
- You’ll get an email soon with steps to reset your password.
How can I access my devices with another phone?
- Install the Laser SmartHome app on your other phone.
- Sign in with your account details.
- When you are done, make sure to log out of the app on secondary devices for privacy.
Can I register my devices to another Laser SmartHome account?
- A device can only be linked to one Laser SmartHome account.
- If you want to connect the device to a different account or pass it on to a family member, you must first remove it from your account. To remove the device, go to device Settings > Remove Device (see page 18). You can remove a device even if it’s offline.
- Once removed, the device can then be linked to another Laser SmartHome account.
- If you don’t remove the device, the next user will get a warning that it’s linked to another account. Tap > to send us an unbinding request via the app.
Can I stream live video if I’m travelling overseas?
Yes, just make sure your smartphone with the Laser SmartHome app and Laser
SmartHome devices are connected to the internet. Additional charges for
international data roaming may apply.
If the internet or Wi-Fi is down, will my camera still record events?
Yes, your camera will still detect and record events to the microSD card.
You can view these recordings later in the Playback tab. However, without the
internet, you can’t use your camera for live streaming or manage settings from
your phone.
Why is the live video stream slow?
- Possible reasons for camera streaming issues include:
- This is commonly due to poor internet connection. Consider a Wi-Fi extender for better coverage and signal strength.
- Limited internet bandwidth at home. Having many devices connected to your Wi-Fi router can also hog bandwidth.
Why am I not getting phone notifications?
- Make sure notifications are enabled within the Laser SmartHome app (see pages 4-5).
- Make sure the Laser SmartHome app is running in the background. If you restarted your phone, open the app again.
- Check the ‘Do Not Disturb’ toggle in the Activities tab of the app. If it’s on, turn it off to receive notifications.
- Android phones often optimize battery usage by limiting app activity. This can cause delays in notifications. To fix this:
- Go to Settings > Apps.
- Find Laser SmartHome in the apps list and tap on it.
- Tap Battery.
- Change from ‘Optimized’ to ‘Unrestricted’ to allow the app to run in the background without interference.
How can I reset the device?
• Manually rotate the camera upwards to find the Reset button (see page 7).
• Press it with a finger or pin until it beeps, then let go. Wait for the
camera to restart and confirm it’s ready to connect.
