153021 Collection Heritage Bike Helmet

OWNER’S MANUAL

This helmet is only intended for  bicyclists, users of skateboards, and roller skates. It is not designed for  motor vehicle use or other sports,  and it might not be suitable for certain  e-bikes or powered scooters capable  of maintained speeds of at least 20  mph, as these devices can expose you  to risks from which a bicycle or skate  helmet is not intended to protect.

Thousand helmets comply with one  or more of the following standards: If your helmet bears the CPSC

designation it then meets the safety  requirements of the C.P.S.C. (US Consumer Project Safety Commission)  for bicycle helmets, 16 C.F.R. Part  1203 as of its date of production.  All helmets sold in the USA for  cycling must meet this standard.

If your helmet bears the CE designation then it complies with the safety requirements of CE EN1078:2012+A1:2012  and the EU Regulation 2016/425 as of its  date of production. All helmets sold in  the EU and certain other countries for cycling must meet this standard.

If your helmet bears the UKCA  designation then is conformity with  the regulation 2016/425 on personal  protective equipment as brought into  UK law and amended. All helmets sold  in the UK and certain other countries  for cycling must meet this standard. “

If your helmet bears the ASTM  designation it then meets the safety requirements of ASTM F1492 for  skateboarding and trick roller skating  as of its date of production.

PLEASE READ BEFORE USING  YOUR NEW HELMET

The bicycle helmet you have just  purchased provides protection,  whether on or off the road. Please  familiarize yourself with the helmet’s  features and instructions to ensure  proper use. It’s extremely important  that the wearer carefully and thoroughly read through this manual  before wearing their new helmet.

WARNING: Do not modify or remove  any of the original components  of this helmet other than what is  recommended by the manufacturer. This helmet should not be adapted for  the purpose of fitting accessories.

ABOUT THE LIMITS OF YOUR HELMET WARNING:

Your Thousand helmet is  designed to reduce or prevent certain  injuries, and it meets or exceeds the  levels of protection mandated by the  safety standards designated on the  helmet for in effect on the date of  manufacture. No helmet can protect  the wearer against all possible impacts.  Even at very low speeds, accidents  can result in serious injury or death.  Some injuries are not caused by impact  at all, but by other forces. A helmet does not protect what it does not  cover, and may not protect what it  does cover. A helmet cannot protect  against neck, spinal or other injuries  that may result from an accident.

FIT SYSTEM

To adjust the fit system, put the helmet  on your head, but do not connect the straps. If the fit system is too loose,  rotate the adjusting wheel clockwise to tighten (Figure 1-A). If the fit system  is too tight, rotate the adjusting wheel  counter-clockwise (Figure 1-B). Then  fasten the magnetic buckle and adjust  it to a comfortably snug fit that does  not allow the helmet to roll back or  to the side, as discussed below.

THE CORRECT FIT

WARNING: To be effective, a helmet  must fit and be worn correctly in accordance with these instructions.  To check for the correct fit, place helmet on head and make any  adjustments indicated. Securely  fasten retention system. Grasp the  helmet and try to rotate it to fit the  front and rear. A correctly fitted  helmet should be comfortable and  should not move forward to obscure  vision or rearward to expose the  forehead. The helmet is designed to be retained by a strap under the lower  jaw (Figure 2). You should try different  sizes and choose the size which feels  secure and comfortable on the head  in accordance to these instructions.

RETENTION SYSTEM

Place the helmet firmly on your head  and fasten the buckle. The straps

must be adjusted so they are evenly  tensioned. The helmet uses a quick release magnetic buckle. To fasten the  buckle, slide the top piece on top of the bottom piece until the magnets in  both pieces have snapped together;  you will hear a closure sound when  it has locked. To open the buckle,  slide the top piece laterally. Make  sure the magnetic buckle snaps  together whenever using the helmet,  and that the buckle is positioned  away from the jawbone. Be sure to  also tuck the extra strap material  through the “O” ring (Figure 3).

PROTECTION AND VENTILATION

The helmet’s outer shell provides  excellent durability and integrity.  The multiple vents and inner air channels draw air through the  helmet for maximum cooling.

REMOVABLE VISORS

(For Chapter Collection Helmets Only) The visor on your helmet is removable and interchangeable with other  Thousand Chapter Helmet Collection  visors. To remove the visor, turn the  hand screws counterclockwise to  loosen (Figure 4-A). To attach the visor,  replace the hand screws and turn  clockwise to tighten (Figure 4-B).

WARNING : Do not tighten the screws  for the visor on the helmet when the visor is not attached. This can damage  the helmet and void the warranty.

FINAL CHECK

It is important to remember that the  helmet needs to fit snugly on your head and be fastened to provide  maximum protection. If you can tilt the  helmet forward or backward, then you  need to tighten the strap adjustment.  The straps should not cover the ears.  All adjustments should be checked  each time the helmet is worn. The  wearer needs to make sure that the  helmet fits properly and comfortably  at all times. Do not, however, adjust your helmet while riding.

CARING FOR YOUR HELMET

Clean the helmet’s shell, pads  and retention system with mild soap and water only.

WARNING: The use of any solvent,  paint or decal can cause damage  to the helmet that may or may  not be visible to the wearer. Do  not use this helmet if it has been  exposed to such substances.

KEEP HELMET OUT OF EXTREME HEAT WARNING: The helmet will be  damaged if it is exposed to excessive  heat. If stored in dark vehicles or  storage bags the temperature  can get hot enough to cause heat  damage. Heat damaged helmets  show bubbly and uneven surfaces.  If damaged, the helmet should be destroyed and replaced immediately.

WARNING – IMPORTANT

INFORMATION

The helmet is designed to absorb  the energy of an impact by partial destruction or damage to the helmet  itself. The helmet may, after receiving an impact, be damaged to the point that it is no longer adequate  to protect the head against further  impacts, and this damage may not  be visible to the user. Never wear a helmet that has been in an accident  or that has sustained a hard impact,  even if there are no visible signs  of damage. The helmet should be  returned to the manufacturer for  inspection, or destroyed or replaced  if it is involved in any injury related  fall or other impact, or if any damage  to the helmet is apparent.

Unfortunately, some accidents result in  head injuries that cannot be prevented  by ANY helmet. Helmets cannot protect  against penetration by sharp objects.

Always ride with extreme caution and  be sure to read this manual thoroughly.

Helmets have a normal lifespan of  approximately three years when  properly cared for and not subjected  to impacts or other damage. If  the helmet has been exposed

to excessive light or heat, rough  handling, chemicals, heavy use, or improper storage that has resulted  in dents or cuts, it may decrease the lifespan and safety of the helmet.

WARNING: The helmet should  not be used by children while

climbing or doing other activities  where there is a risk of hanging  or strangulation if the child gets  trapped whilst wearing the helmet.

1 YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY

Thousand helmets have a 1 year limited  warranty from the date of original purchase (or as otherwise required  by local law) to be free from defects  in materials and workmanship. This  limited warranty applies only to the original purchaser and does not  cover damage caused by impact,  improper use, accident, negligence,  abuse, improper maintenance,  improper fit, normal wear and tear,  modifications, use unintended  by Thousand or damage due to  heat or contact with chemicals.

If your Thousand helmet is found to be  defective in materials or workmanship, within one year from the date of  original purchase, Thousand will, at  its sole option, either (1) repair the  helmet at no charge, using new or refurbished replacement parts as  Thousand deems appropriate, or (2)  replace the product or component with  a new one that is at least functionally equivalent to the original product. The  original of any product or component that is replaced under warranty  must be returned to Thousand and  becomes the property of Thousand.

The Thousand Limited Warranty as  stated in this document provides the  sole and exclusive remedy in lieu of all  other of all other rights and remedies, including but not limited to implied  warranties such as implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a  particular purpose, as well as any contract rights, tort, negligence, strict  liability, and other remedies expressed or implied at law or in equity, and in  no event shall Thousand be liable for  special, indirect, incidental, economic  or consequential damages, loss or  damage to property other than the  product itself, loss of use of property,  loss of profits, business interruption,  punitive damages, contribution,  indemnification, or other losses,  whatever the cause, including the  fault or negligence of Thousand. If  any implied warranty or other right or  remedy is deemed to exist in addition  to this Limited Warranty, its duration  shall be no longer than the stated one year warranty period. If any part of this  Limited Warranty is deemed to be not  legal or enforceable, the remainder shall  be given full force and effect. Some  States do not allow the exclusion or  limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation or  exclusion may not apply to you. This warranty gives you specific legal  rights, and you may also have other  rights which vary from State to State
