MAHLE My SmartBike Active Charger

General information

My SmartBike Active Charger includes CAN BUS communication and Micro-USB to make updates to the full eBike System directly. My SmartBike Active Charger allows fast charging. LED light to inform about charging mode and status. An optional wall mount is available to place My Smartbike Active Charger in the wall. Check with your dealer or supplier to keep shorted and protected your charging system.

Safety quick guide

For your protection, please read the quick guide completely before operating the charger and your ebike system and keep this quick guide for future reference. WARNING. Use only with compatible batteries designed to be used with this My SmartBike Active Charger

Before charging.

1. Connect the charger directly to a power source. Never use extension cords.
2. Avoid reverse charging.
3. Do not use for non-rechargeable batteries, as they can overheat and break.
4. The Active charger is not intended to charge automobile batteries.
5. Inspect the charger before every use for possible damage to the charger itself, the wire or the charging plug. Do not cover the charger while charging.
6. Regularly inspect the battery. Never charge a battery which you suspect is damaged or know is broken.
7. Make sure the charging socket and plug have no humidity before connecting and charging the battery.
8. If the Bike or battery are very cold, wait for them to warm before start charging.
9. Keep clean the connector. If any connection has been damaged, please do not use it.

Important

1. The charger is designed for indoor use only. Do not expose it to rain or snow.

2. Misuse other types of batteries may burst causing personal injury and damage.

3. Do not incinerate, disassemble or short circuit batteries.

4. If the performance of the batteries decreases substantially, it is time to replace the batteries.

5. Store the charger in a cool and dry place when not in use.

6. Disconnect the supply before making or breaking the connections to battery.
   WARNING. Explosive gases. Prevent flames and sparks. Provide adequate ventilation during charging.

7. During charging, the battery must be placed in a well-ventilated area.

8. Keep charger out of the reach from children or infirm persons. Do not let them use the charger without supervision.

9. This charger is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the charger by a person responsible for their safety. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the charger.

• According to the European Guideline 2012/19/EU, electrical devices/tools that are no longer usable must be collected separately and disposed of in environmentally correct manner. This product must be disposed at an authorized place for recycling of electrical and electronic components.
• By collecting and recycling waste, you help save natural resources, and make sure the product is disposed in an environment friendly and healthy way.
• This charger can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the charger in a safe way and understand the hazardous involver.
• Children shall not play with the charger.
• Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.

Charging Instructions

1. Connect the AC wire to charger.
2. Connect the charger to power.
3. Connect charger to the charging port on the eBike.
4. Once charged is completed, disconnect from power source before disconnecting from the eBike.
   CAUTION. When battery fully charged, disconnect from charger before 8 hours.
   CAUTION. Use only adapters to other types of sockets if the National Electric Supply (AC) is compatible with Active charger voltage.

Recommendations for use

• Keep battery charged around 50% (between 40%-70%) when long term storage.

Trouble shooting

Warning Light    Cause    Solution

No light  Charger power error
Check that charger, its wire and the socket from the installation are in good condition. Make sure your power supply is working and its tension is compatible with the working values of charger

Blinking red Charger error
Connect to your eBike through My SmartBike App to know the error and its solution.

Blinking white when connected to eBike Communication error between charger and eBike
Check the connection between charger and eBike. Check the status of all connectors and make sure there is no damage or humidity.

Steady white when connected to eBike  Charger error
Check the connection between charger and eBike. Check the status of all connectors and make sure there is no damage or humidity.

Steady red when connected through micro-USB Micro-USB is not active
Check that charger is connected to an active computer. If not, disconnect the wire from the micro-USB.
