Setup

Preparation

To avoid transport damages the Hurricane NEO comes in a carefully designed packing and is partially preassembled.
We recommend having a plane area of about 600x600mm² / 24×24 square inch for setup. First, take the Chassis and place it on the desig-nated operating place.
Before starting the setup, remove the motor cover, using an Allen key size 2 for the 6 hex screws of the lid. Put the cover aside.

Levelling
After placing the chassis you can now level the turntable by turning the 3 feet in the chassis. Use a suitable bubble level for adjustment (e. g. Acoustic-Signatures dual axis bubble level, see picture below).

Mounting the subplatter

Take away the cover strip over the bearing hole. Insert the sub platter carefully into the bearing. Take care that it slides in slowly and easily. Do not let the sub platter drop into the bearing hole, as this may damage the bearing. Turn the sub platter by hand to make sure it spins easily.

Mounting the belts

Place the two provided belts around a pulley and the sub platter as shown in the pictures below. Start mounting the first belt in the lower groove of the backside pulley. Do not use sharp tools or pointed tweezers. This may damage belts, sub platter and pulleys.

Mounting the motor cover

After mounting the belts, close the motor area with the motor cover using the delivered screws (Allen key size 2).

Mounting the platter

  • Place the platter carefully on top of the subplatter as shown in the picture above. Make sure that both cones are free of any dirt. This may affect the precise run of your turntable.
  • Please keep in mind that the platter weighs approx. 10kg or 22lbs. Perhaps ask someone to assist.
  • Do not let the platter drop onto the sub platter, this may damage the bearing.

Mounting a tonearm

Now you can start to mount the tonearm and cartridge according to the setup manual of the tone-arm manufacturer.
Your Hurricane NEO can carry up to 3 tonearms. The adjustment range of the arm base allows mounting distances between 222 mm and 310 mm (with customized arm boards even more).
Before mounting a tonearm you need to mount the appropriate arm board (if not supplied already mounted).
We provide arm boards for a wide range of tone-arms. Please contact us for further information.
If wanted, you can dismount the tonearm base for changing the armboard by loosening the M8 – screw, using an Allen key size 6.
Place your chosen arm board onto the 3 spacer and tighten it with the 3 M4x55 – screws.
