Water-resistance
Precautions concerning water resistance
A watch’s water resistance can be affected by changes caused by the gaskets
drying out, or an accidental shock to the crown. To help maintain your watch’s
water-resistance, we recommend rinsing it in soft water after any contact with
sea water and having its water-resistance checked once a year by an approved
LONGINES Service Centre. In no circumstances should you open your watch
yourself.
IMPORTANT! Never activate the time-setting crown and/or push-pieces when the watch is underwater, and ensure that the crown and push-pieces are pushed in or screwed down before any immersion in water.

Screw-in crown
Some LONGINES models are equipped with a screw-in crown, which must be
unscrewed before setting the time, correcting the date or winding, by turning
it anti-clockwise. After making the settings, return the crown to position 1,
then push it back in and screw it in firmly to ensure the watch’s water
resistance.
Setting the time and stop seconds
Pull the crown out to position 3 when the seconds hand is at 60. Turn the
crown either way to the desired time display. Turning the crown will also turn
the second time zone hand. As soon as the time is synchronised, push the crown
back into position 1.
If you have not been wearing your mechanical watch, it needs to be wound
manually through thirty revolutions or so.
Setting the time for the second time zone
Pull the crown out to position 3, and turn the crown either way until the
second time zone hand on the 24h bezel and the minute hand display the desired
time. Push the crown back into position 1.
Variant: You can also use the rotating bezel to display the time in the second
time zone.
Correcting the local time and date
Pull the crown out to position 2. Turn the crown either way to move the hour
hand forward or backward successive whole-hour steps, without affecting the
minute, seconds and second time zone displays.
When the hour hand passes midnight, the calendar will automatically display a
new date, for either the following or the previous day, depending on the
direction of correction.
However, the date needs to be corrected after every month shorter than 31
days.
Push the crown back into position 1.
