Product Usage Instructions

Method 1: Via TP-Link Tether App

  1. Download the TP-Link Tether app from the Apple Store or Google Play Store, or scan the QR code provided.
  2. Connect your modem to the router’s WAN port using an Ethernet cable.
  3. Power on the router by connecting the power adapter and turning it on.
  4. Wait for about 2 minutes for the modem to restart and verify that the Power, 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and Internet LEDs are solid on.
  5. Open the Tether app, log in with your TP-Link ID, and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.

Method 2: Via a Web Browser

  1. Connect your device to the router either wired orwirelessly.
  2. If connecting wired, use an Ethernet cable. If connecting wirelessly, find the SSID and password on the label of the router.
  3. Launch a web browser and enter http://tplinkwifi.net or http://192.168.0.1 in the address bar to access the router settings.
  4. Create a new password and follow the instructions to set up the internet connection and register for TP-Link Cloud service.

Access Point Mode

  1. To extend your existing network, switch the new router to Access Point mode.
  2. Power on the router and connect its WAN port to the existing router’s Ethernet port using an Ethernet cable.
  3. Connect a computer to the new router either via Ethernet or wirelessly using the SSID and password provided on the label.

Q1: What should I do if the login window does not appear when accessing the router settings?

ROUTER MODE

  • If your internet connection comes from an Ethernet outlet, connect the router’s WAN port to it, then follow step 4 and 5.
  • If you want to configure this new router to extend your network, refer to the Access Point Mode and Range Extender Mode sections on the back page.

Configure the router

Method 1: Via TP-Link Tether App

  • Download the Tether app via Apple Store or Google Play, or simply scan the QR code below.tp-link-Archer-C50-Wireless-Dual-Band-Router-FIG- \(3\)
  • Open the Tether app and log in with your TP-Link ID. Note: If you don’t have an account, please create one first.
  • Tap the button in the Tether app and select Wireless Router > Standard Routers. Follow the steps to complete the setup and connect to the internet
    Note : Due to Tether app updates, your actual user interface and pathway may differ from those depicted here.

Method 2: Via a Web Browser

  1. Connect your device to the router (wired or wireless).
    Wired
    Turn off the Wi-Fi on your computer and connect to the router using an Ethernet cable.
    Wireless
    Find the SSID and wireless password printed on the label of the router. Click the network icon of your computer or go to Wi-Fi settings of your smart device, and then select the SSID to join the network.

Connect the router to the internet

  • Follow the step-by-step instructions to set up the internet connection and register for the TP-Link Cloud service.

Access Point Mode

If you already have a router, you can switch this new router to Access Point mode to extend your existing network. Follow the steps below.tp-link-

  • Power on the router.

  • Connect the router’s WAN port to your existing router’s Ethernet port via an Ethernet cable as shown above.

  • Connect a computer to the router via an Ethernet cable or wirelessly by using the SSID (network name) and Wireless Password printed on the label at the bottom of the router.

  • Launch a web browser and enter http://tplinkwifi.net in the address bar. Create a password to log in.

  • Click Change Mode in the top right corner then select Access Point Mode.
    Note : You can also go to Advanced > Operation Mode to switch to Access Point Mode.

  • Wait for the router to reboot, then log in and follow the Quick Setup to complete the setup.

Range Extender Mode

If you already have a router, you can switch this new router to Range Extender mode to boost the existing wireless coverage in your home.

Configure

  1. Place the router next to your host router and power it on.
  2. Connect a computer to the router via an Ethernet cable or wirelessly by using the SSID (network name) and Wireless Password printed on the label at the bottom of the router.
  3. Launch a web browser and enter http://tplinkwifi.net in the address bar. Create a password to log in.
  4. Click Change Mode in the top right corner then select Range Extender Mode. Wait for the router to reboot.
    Tip : You can also go to Advanced > Operation Mode to switch to Range Extender Mode.

Relocate

Need Help?

  • Q1. What can I do if the login window does not appear?
    • Reboot your router and try again.
    • If the computer is set to a static IP address, change its settings to obtain an IP address automatically.
    • Verify that http://tplinkwifi.net is correctly entered in the web browser. Alternatively, enter http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.1.1 in the web browser and press Enter.
    • Use another web browser and try again.
    • Disable and then enable the network adapter being used.
  • Q2. What can I do if I cannot access the internet?
    • Power off your modem for about 5 minutes, then power it on and check the internet. If your modem has more than one Ethernet port, keep other ports unconnected.
    • Check if the internet is working normally by connecting a computer directly to the modem using an Ethernet cable. If it is not, contact your internet service provider. Log in to the web management page of the router, and go to the Network Map page to check whether the WAN IP address is valid or not. If it’s valid, go to
    • Advanced > Network > Internet, click Advanced Settings, select Use the Following DNS Addresses, set the Primary DNS to 8.8.8.8, and set the Secondary DNS to 8.8.4.4. If it is not, check the hardware connection or contact your internet service provider.
    • For cable modem users, log in to the web management page of the router. Go to Advanced > Network > Internet and locate the MAC Clone section. Select Clone  Current Device MAC, and click SAVE. Then reboot both the modem and the router.
  • Q3. How do I restore the router to its factory default settings?
    • With the router powered on, press and hold the RESET button on the back panel of the router until all LEDs turn off. The router will reboot.
    • Log in to the web management page of the router. Go to Advanced > System >Backup & Restore, and locate the Factory Default Restore section. Then click FACTORY RESTORE. The router will restore and reboot automatically.
  • Q4. What can I do if I forget my web management page password?
    • If you are using a TP-Link ID to log in, click Forgot Password? on the login page and then follow the instructions to reset it.
    • Alternatively, refer to Q3 to reset your router, then visit http://tplinkwifi.net to create a new login password.
  • Q5. What can I do if I forget my wireless network password?
    • If you have not changed the default wireless password, it can be found on the label at the bottom of the router.
    • Connect a computer directly to the router using an Ethernet cable. Log in to the router’s web management page at http://tplinkwifi.net, and go to Wireless > Wireless Settings to retrieve or reset your wireless password.
