• Open the packaging and take out the equip-ment with care.

Proper use

The lawn mower is intended for private use, i.e. for use in home and gardening environments.
Private use of the lawn mower refers an annual operating time generally not exceeding that of 50 hours, during which time the equipment is primarily used to maintain small-scale, residential lawns and home/hobby gardens. Public facilities, sporting halls, and agricultural/forestry applica-tions are excluded.
Important! Due to the high risk of bodily injury to the user, the lawn mower may not be used to trim bushes, hedges or shrubs, to cut scaling vege-tation, planted roofs, or balcony-grown grass, to clean (suck up) dirt and debris off walkways, or to chop up tree or hedge clippings. Moreover, the lawn mower may not be used as a power cultiva-tor to level out high areas such as molehills.
For safety reasons, the lawn mower may not be used as a drive unit for other work tools or toolkits of any kind, unless they have been expressly per-mitted by the manufacturer.
The equipment is to be used only for its prescri-bed purpose. Any other use is deemed to be a case of misuse. The user / operator and not the manufacturer will be liable for any damage or inju-ries of any kind caused as a result of this.
Please note that our equipment has not been de-signed for use in commercial, trade or industrial applications. Our warranty will be voided if the machine is used in commercial, trade or industrial businesses or for equivalent purposes.

Even if you use this electric power tool in accordance with instructions, certain resi-dual risks cannot be rules out. The following hazards may arise in connection with the equipment’s construction and layout:

1. Lung damage if no suitable protective dust mask is used.
2. Damage to hearing if no suitable ear protec-tion is used.
3. Health damage caused by hand-arm vib-rations if the equipment is used over a pro-longed period or is not properly guided and maintained.

Before starting the equipment

Before you connect the equipment to the mains supply make sure that the data on the rating plate are identical to the mains data.
Warning!
Always pull the power plug before making adjustments to the equipment.
The lawn mower is delivered unassembled. The complete push bar and the grass basket must be assembled before using the lawn mower. Follow the operating instructions step-by-step and use the pictures provided as a visual guide to easily assemble the quipment.
Fitting the wheels (Fig. 3a and b)
Take a rear wheel (Fig. 2/Item 11) and push it onto the axle as shown in Fig. 3a. Then slide a washer (Fig. 2/Item 15) onto the axle and fasten all parts with the supplied split pin (Fig. 2/Item 14) as shown in Fig. 3a. Finally, press the wheel cap (Fig. 2/Item 12) onto the wheel as shown in Fig.
3b. Proceed in exactly the same way on the other side.
Mounting the push bar (Fig. 4 to 7).
Mount a bottom push bar (Fig. 2/Item 2) onto the screw provided for it and secure everything with a wing nut (Fig. 2/Item 13) as shown in Fig. 4.
Proceed in the same way on the other side. When you fi t the top push bar you can decide the height of the push bar by selecting the appropriate fas-tening hole (Fig. 5). Finally, secure the top push bar to the bottom push bar as shown in Fig. 6.
Now you can attach the motor cable to the push bar (Fig. 7/Item A) using the cable clips (Fig. 2/ Item 16).
Mounting the grass basket (see Figs. 8a and b)
Press the grass box handle (Fig. 8a/Item 21) into the grass basket as shown in Fig. 8a. Before you fi t the grass basket you must ensure that the motor is switched off and the blade is not rotating.
Lift the ejector fl ap (Fig. 8b/Item 3) with one hand.
With the other hand, hold the grass basket by the handle and hook it in from above (Fig. 8b).
Filling level indicator of the grass collector
The grass collector is equipped with a fi lling level indicator (Fig. 2/Item 18) which is opened by the airfl ow that the lawn mower generates during ope- ration. If the fl ap closes during mowing, the grass collecting device is full and must be emptied. To ensure the proper functioning of the fi lling level indicator, the holes under the fl ap must always be kept clean and passable.
Adjusting the cutting height Important!
Adjust the cutting height only when the motor is switched off and the power cable has been dis-connected.
Before you begin to mow, check to ensure that the blade is not blunt and that none of the fasteners are damaged. To prevent any imbalance, replace blunt and/or damaged blades. To carry out this check, first switch off the motor and pull out the power plug.
The cutting height is adjusted as follows (see Fig. 9):

1. Push the lever inwards.
2. Set the lever to the desired cutting height.
3. Release the lever and check that it is securely seated in the lock.

Reading off the cutting height
The cutting height can be set between 25-66 mm in 5 intervals, and can be read off on the scale.
Power supply
The lawn mower can be connected to any light socket-outlet with a 220-240 Volt alternating current. However, the socket outlet must have an earthing contact protected by a 16 A circuit brea-ker. Additionally, a residual current device (RCD) circuit-breaker with max. 30 mA must be used!
Power cable for the device
Please only use power cables that are not dama-ged. The total length of the power cable should not exceed 50 meters; going beyond this distance will reduce the power output of the electric motor.
The power cable must have a cross-section of 3 x 1.5 mm². The insulating sheath of lawn aerator power cables is frequently damaged.
Some of the causes for this are:

• Cuts caused by driving over the cable.
• Pinching when the power cable is dragged under doors and pulled through windows.
• Cracking due to old age of the insulation.
• Kinking by improperly fastening or guiding the power cable.

The power cables must, at the very minimum, be of type HO5RN-F and 3-stranded. The cable type must be printed somewhere on the power cable.
Only purchase power cables that are marked!
Plugs and socket couplers for the power cables must be made from rubber and splash-proof.
There is a limit to how long power cables can be.
Longer power cables require larger conductor cross-sections. Power cables and connecting li-nes must be regularly checked for damage. Ensu-re that the lines are switched off before checking them. Completely unwind the power cable. Also check power cable entry points, plugs and socket couplers for kinks.

Operation

Connect the plug (Fig. 1/Item 8) to an extension cable. It is imperative to secure the extension cable with the cable grip as shown in Fig. 10.
Caution!
To prevent the machine switching on accidentally, the lawn mower is equipped with a safety lock-off (Fig. 10/Item A) which must be pressed before the switching bar (Fig. 10/Item B) can be activated.
The lawn mower switches itself off when the swit-ching bar is released. Repeat this process several times so that you are sure that the machine func-tions properly. Before you perform any repair or maintenance work on the equipment, ensure that the blade is not rotating and that the power supply is disconnected.
Caution! Never open the chute fl ap when the grass bag has been detached (to be emptied) and the motor is still running. A rotating bla-de can cause serious injuries!
Always carefully fasten the chute fl ap and grass basket. Switch off the engine before emptying the grass basket.
Always ensure that a safe distance (provided by the length of the long handles) is maintained between the user and the mower housing. Be especially careful when mowing and changing direction on slopes and inclines. Maintain a solid footing and wear sturdy, non-slip footwear and long trousers.
Always mow along the incline (not up and down).
For safety reasons, the lawn mower may not be used to mow inclines whose gradient exceeds 15 degrees.
Use special caution when backing up and pulling the lawn mower. Tripping hazard!
Tips for proper mowing
It is recommended that you overlap the mowing swaths.
Only use a sharp blade that is in good condition.
This will prevent the grass blades from fraying and the lawn from turning yellow.
Try to mow in straight lines for a nice, clean look.
The swaths should overlap each other by a few centimeters in order to avoid stripes.
How frequently you should mow your lawn is determined primarily by the speed at which the grass grows. In the main growing season (May – June) you will probably need to mow the lawn twice a week, otherwise just once a week. The cutting height should be between 4 – 6cm and the amount of growth before mowing again should be 4 – 5cm. If the grass is allowed to grow somewhat longer for whatever reason, do not make the mis-take of cutting it back to the normal height in one go. This will harm the lawn. Never cut it back by more than half the height in one go.
Keep the underside of the mower housing clean and remove grass build-up. Deposits not only make it more diffi cult to start the mower; they decrease the quality of the cut and make it harder for the equipment to bag the grass.
Always mow along inclines (not up and down).
You can prevent the lawn mower from slipping down by holding a position at an angle upwards.
Select the cutting height according to the length of the grass. Make several passes so that no more than 4cm of grass are cut at one time.
Switch off the motor before doing any checks on the blade. Keep in mind that the blade continues to rotate for a few seconds after the motor has been switched off . Never attempt to manually stop the blade. Regularly check to see if the blade is securely attached, is in good condition and is sharp. If the contrary is the case, sharpen the blade or replace it. In the event that the blade strikes an object, immediately switch off the lawn mower and wait for the blade to come to a com-plete stop. Then inspect the condition of the blade and the blade mount. Replace any parts that are damaged.
Lay the power cable on the ground in loops in front of the power outlet. Mow away from the po-wer outlet and cable, making sure that the power cable always trails in the mowed grass so that the lawn mower does not travel over the cable.
As soon as grass clippings start to trail the lawn mower, it is time to empty the grass basket. Im-portant! Before taking off the grass basket, switch off the motor and wait until the blade has come to a stop.
To take off the grass basket, use one hand to lift up the chute fl ap and the other to grab onto the basket handle. Remove the basket. For safety reasons, the chute fl ap automatically falls down after removing the grass basket and closes off the rear chute opening. If any grass remains in the opening, it will be easier to restart the engine if you pull the mower back approximately 1m.
Do not use your hands or feet to remove clippings in or on the mower housing, but instead use suita-ble tools such as a brush or a hand broom.
In order to ensure that the majority of grass clip-pings are picked up, the inside of both the grass basket and especially the net must be cleaned after each use.
Reattach the grass basket only when the motor is switched off and the blade has stopped.
Lift up the chute flap with one hand and, holding the grass basket by its handle with the other hand, hang in the basket from the top.

Replacing the power cable

Danger!
If the power cable for this equipment is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or its after-sales service or similarly trained personnel to avoid danger.

Cleaning, maintenance and ordering of spare parts

Danger!
Always pull out the mains power plug before star-ting any cleaning work.
8.1 Cleaning

• Keep all safety devices, air vents and the motor housing free of dirt and dust as far as possible. Wipe the equipment with a clean cloth or blow it with compressed air at low pressure.
• We recommend that you clean the device immediately each time you have finished using it.
• Clean the equipment regularly with a moist cloth and some soft soap. Do not use cleaning agents or solvents; these could at-tack the plastic parts of the equipment. Ensu-re that no water can seep into the device. The ingress of water into an electric tool increases the risk of an electric shock.

8.2 Carbon brushes
In case of excessive sparking, have the carbon brushes checked only by a qualifi ed electrician.
Danger! The carbon brushes should not be rep laced by anyone but a qualifi ed electrician.
8.3 Maintenance

• Worn out or damaged blades, blade mounts, and bolts should be replaced as a set by an authorized professional in order to keep the equipment in balance.

• Do not clean the lawn mower with running water, particularly with high-pressure water.
  Ensure that all mounting components (i.e. screws, bolts, nuts etc.) are always tightened so that the equipment can be safely operated at all times.

• Frequently check the grass catch assembly for signs of wear.

• Replace excessively worn or damaged parts immediately.

• Store your lawn mower in a dry room.

• In order to ensure that you enjoy the equip-ment for many years to come, all screwed parts, as well as the wheels and axles, should be cleaned and lubricated.

• Keeping your lawn mower in good condition not only ensures a long lifespan and high per-formance, but also enables the equipment to thoroughly cut your grass with minimal effort.
  For best results, clean the lawn mower with a brush or rag. Do not use any solvents or water to remove dirt.

• The blade is subjected to more wear and tear than any other component. Therefore, routinely check the condition of the blade and make sure that it is tightly fastened. If the blade is completely worn out, it must be im-mediately replaced or ground sharp again. An excessively vibrating mower means that the blade is not properly balanced or has become deformed from striking an object. In this case, the blade must be repaired or replaced.

• There are no parts inside the equipment which require additional maintenance.

8.4 Replacing the blade
For safety reasons, we recommend having the blade replaced by an authorized professional. Im-portant! Wear work gloves! Only replace the blade with a genuine Einhell replacement blade, as this will ensure top performance and safety under all conditions.
Carry out the following steps to change the blade:

1. Undo the fastening screw (see Fig. 11a).
2. Remove the blade and replace with a new one.
3. When fi tting the blade, make sure it is ins- talled in the right direction. The blade‘s air va- nes must project into the motor compartment (see Fig. 11b). The dome mounts must be aligned with the punch holes in the blade.
4. Then retighten the fastening screw with the universal wrench. The tightening torque should be approx. 25 Nm.

At the end of the season, perform a general ins-pection of the lawn mower and remove any grass and dirt which may have accumulated. At the start of each season, ensure that you check the condi-tion of the blade. If repairs are necessary, please contact our customer service center. Use only genuine spare parts.

Disposal and recycling

The equipment is supplied in packaging to pre-vent it from being damaged in transit. The raw materials in this packaging can be reused or recycled. The equipment and its accessories are made of various types of material, such as metal and plastic. Never place defective equipment in your household refuse. The equipment should be taken to a suitable collection center for proper disposal. If you do not know the whereabouts of such a collection point, you should ask in your local council offices.

Storage

Store the equipment and accessories in a dark and dry place at above freezing temperature. The ideal storage temperature is between 5 and 30 °C. Store the electric tool in its original packaging.

Important! For protection, the motor is equipped with a thermal switch which cuts out when the motor is overloaded and switches on again automatically after a short cooling period.
Disposal
Power tools, rechargeable batteries, accessories and packaging should be sorted for environmental-friendly recycling.
Do not dispose of power tools and batteries/rechargeable batteries into household waste!

1. These guarantee terms apply solely to consumers, i.e. natural persons, who do not want to use this pro-duct in connection with either their commercial or other self-employed activities. These guarantee terms regulate additional guarantee services which the undermentioned manufacturer promises to buyers of its new products in addition to their statutory rights of guarantee. Your statutory rights of guarantee are not affected by this guarantee. Our guarantee is free of charge to you.

2. The guarantee services cover only defects due to material or manufacturing faults on the new product which you have bought in the European Union from the undermentioned manufacturer and are limited to either the rectifi cation of said defects or the replacement of the product, whichever we prefer. Please note that only equipment under the brand name “Professional” has been designed for use in commercial, trade or professional applications. 3. Our guarantee does not cover:
   • Damage to the equipment caused by failure to comply with the installation/assembly instructions or by unprofessional installation; damage caused by failure to comply with the operating instructions (e.g. connection to the wrong mains voltage or current type); damage caused by failure to comply with the maintenance and safety regulations; damage caused by exposing the equipment to abnormal environ-mental conditions; damage resulting from poor care and maintenance.
   • Damage to the equipment caused by misuse or incorrect applications (e.g. overloading the equipment or using non-approved attachments or accessories); damage caused by foreign bodies (e.g. sand, stones, dust, ….) getting inside the equipment. Damage in transit; damage caused by force or external influences (e.g. by dropping the equipment).
   • Damage to the equipment or parts of the equipment which is owed to use- related, normal or otherwise natural wear. For example, batteries and battery packs are manufactured with a cycle limit for design-related reasons. Wear is negatively influenced in particular by load demands and charging speeds as well as exposure to heat, cold, vibration and impact.

4. The guarantee is valid for a period of 2 years starting from the purchase date of the equipment. Guarantee claims must be submitted before the end of the guarantee period and within two weeks of the defect being noticed. No guarantee claims will be accepted after the end of the guarantee period. The original guaran-tee period remains applicable to the equipment even if repairs are carried out or parts are replaced. In such cases, the work performed or parts fi tted will not result in an extension of the guarantee period, and no new guarantee will become active for the work performed or for any replacement parts fi tted. This also applies if on-site service is used.

5. To assert your guarantee claim, register the defective equipment at: www.Einhell-Service.com. You will need to provide proof of purchase of the new item of equipment. Equipment returned without such proof or without a rating plate are excluded from the guarantee services because of the lack of traceability. If the defect is covered by our guarantee, then either the item in question will be repaired immediately and retur-ned to you or we will send you a new replacement.

6. If you have taken the equipment with you to a diff erent EU country than where you bought it, we will arran-ge for a local service partner to provide the guarantee services. If you take the equipment outside the EU, the guarantee will not apply.

Of course, we are also happy to off er a chargeable repair service for any defects which are not covered or no longer covered by the scope of this guarantee.
