INTRODUCTION
Bringing back one of the most favored studio dynamic mics of the 1960s, the WA-19 blends some of the most desirable traits of dynamic mics, like critical off-axis rejection, reduced proximity effect, and rugged metal construction, with added clarity and richer detail similar to studioworthy condenser tones. The acoustic high-pass filter ring can cut up to 10dB at 50Hz to remove unwanted low frequencies – especially helpful for dense mixes and high track counts. A bygone favorite at the most famous recording studios and used on legendary live performances, the original was placed on vocals, acoustic guitar, snare, cymbals/overheads, guitar cabs and so much more. Reviving the original tone & capabilities (without the hassle of vintage repairs), the WA-19 delivers the ideal balance between dynamic functionality and condenser- like character for a dynamic studio mic that you’ll want to try on almost anything.
As a transformerless design, the WA-19 excels with fast transient response and clarity, revealing a level of detail in studio sources uncommonly found in a dynamic mic. The added variable acoustic high-pass filter can cut up to 10dB at 50Hz (without any electronic phase shift often incurred from preamp high- pass filters) to remove unwanted low frequencies – especially helpful for dense mixes and high track counts.
LEGENDARY RECORDINGS
Like the original used on many live sets, legendary studios, and used on
numerous classic recordings, the WA-19 delivers a unique combination of
dynamic-style noise rejection and condenser-like clarity.
LEGENDARY TONES
The WA-19 adds clarity + air compared to other studio dynamic mics that are
readily available without the directional and sensitivity issues associated
with condensers. An ideal balance when detail is required in mixes that will
have higher track counts.
CONTROL THE BOOM & BASS
The WA-19 manages unruly low-end frequencies in two distinct ways. First, the
WA-19 has a variable acoustic high-pass filter ring that cuts up to 10dB at 50
Hz, ideal for tightening up the tone and adding upper-midrange emphasis
without any electronic phase shift. Ventilated slots on the WA-19 behind the
capsule reduce proximity effect, eliminating boomy bass associated with
placing the mic closer to the source.
GREAT SOUND WITH ANY PLACEMENT
The thin pencil-style body design of the WA-19 allows for easy mic placement
in crowded studio situations where mics are on top of each other – like miking
a full drum kit. WA-19 has a dynamic humbucking coil that helps the mic
deliver elite off-axis rejection, especially in lower frequency with minimal
noise, making it easy to grab tight bottom snare tones without excess kick
drum bleed.
