INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

WARNINGS:
  • Any adjustments made to the car seat should only be carried out by an adult.
  • Each country has different safety laws and regulations for the transportation of children in cars. For this reason, contact local authorities for further information.
  • Do not let anyone use this product without having first read the instructions.
  • The risk of serious injuries to your child increases, not only in the case of accidents, but also in other circumstances (sudden braking, etc.) if these instructions are not followed carefully.
  • This product is only intended to be used as a child car seat; it is not meant for use indoors.
  • No car seat can guarantee your child’s total safety in the event of an accident, but the use of this product reduces the risk of serious injuries or death when installed correctly.
  • Always use the child car seat, fitted correctly, including for short journeys. Your child’s safety will be compromised if you do not follow the above mentioned rule. In particular, make sure that the child car seat belt is properly tensioned, free of knots and in proper position.
  • After an accident, even if minor, the child car seat must be replaced because it may have suffered damages, although these damages may not be visible to the naked eye.
  • Do not use second-hand child car seats: they may have suffered damages not visible at the naked eye, but such to compromise the product’s safety.
  • DO NOT use the product for more than 10 years. after this period, alterations of the materials (e.g., due to exposure to sunlight) may reduce or compromise the product’s effectiveness.
  • Do not use a child car seat that is damaged, deformed, excessively worn out, or missing any parts as the original safety features may have been compromised.
  • This product must not be modified in any way unless the modification has been approved by the manufacturer. Do not install accessories, spare parts or components which are not supplied and approved by the manufacturer and intended for the child car seat.
  • Do not use anything – pillows, blankets, etc. – to distance the child car seat from the vehicle seat or to distance the child from the child car seat: in case of accident, the child car seat may not work properly.
  • WARNING! The rigid elements and plastic components of the advanced child restraint system must be positioned and installed in such a way as to keep them from becoming trapped by a movable seat or vehicle door during everyday use of the vehicle.
  • Make sure that no objects are positioned between the child car seat and the vehicle seat or between the child car seat and the car door.
  • Make sure that the vehicle seats (foldable, tiltable or rotating) are well secured.
  • Do not transport loose, unsecured objects or baggage on the back shelf of the vehicle: they may injure the passengers in the event of an accident or sudden braking.
  • Do not let other children play with the child car seat components orparts.
  • Never leave your child unattended in the car, it can be dangerous!
  • Do not transport more than one child at a time in the child car seat.
  • Ensure that all the car passengers fasten their safety harnesses for their own safety and because, during the journey, they may injure the child in the event of an accident or sudden braking of the car.
  • Warning! When adjusting the car seat, make sure that no moving parts come into contact with your child.
  • If you need to carry out any adjustment on the child car seat or on your child when travelling, stop the vehicle in a safe place.
  • Periodically check that the child has not opened the safety buckle on the child car seat and that he/she is not playing with any part pertaining to it.
  • Avoid giving food to your child while travelling, especially lollies, ice lollies or other foods on sticks. they may injure your child in case of accident or sudden braking.
  • Stop frequently during long trips: children tire easily whilst using the child car seat and need to move around. It is recommended that children get in and out of the child car seat from the curb side.
  • Do not remove the labels or logos from the product
  • Avoid exposing the child car seat to the sun for extended periods of time: it may change the colour of the materials and fabric.
  • In the first few months after birth, children may have difficulty breathing in a seated position. Avoid leaving children to sleep in the seat until they can lift their heads themselves.
  • If the vehicle has been left in the sun, check that the different parts of the child car seat are not too hot: otherwise, let them cool off before accommodating your child, in order to prevent burns.
  • Premature babies born before the 37th week of pregnancy can be at risk if placed in a child car seat. These babies might incur breathing problems when sat in a child car seat. We therefore recommend you to contact your doctor or the hospital staff, before leaving the hospital. They can recommend the most suitable type of child car seat based on your child’s situation.

PRODUCT FEATURES

This car seat is type-approved for use with children who weigh between 0 to 36 kg, Group 0+/1/2/3 (from birth until roughly 12 years of age).

IMPORTANT WARNING
  • This GR 0+1/2/3 child restraint system is classified as “Semi-Universal”;
    in GR 2/3 without ISOFIX the car seat is classified as “Universal” and is suitable for installation in specific positions on the vehicles indicated in the compatibility list, which can be found on the Chicco website or by scanning the QR code provided at the end of the manual.
    Installing the car seat may also be possible on vehicles that are not present in the compatibility list. If in doubt, consult the child restraint manufacturer

  • This product is an ISOFIX CHILD RESTRAINT SYSTEM. It is approved pursuant to regulation UN ECE 44/04 for general use in vehicles equipped with ISOFIX anchoring systems. It fits vehicles in the positions approved such as ISOFIX positions (refer to the vehicle compatibility list), according to the category of the child restraint system and the device.
    If in doubt, consult the child restraint manufacturer or the vehicle manufacturer.
    This equipment is meant for use with ISOFIX class B1, D1.

  • When it is in the Group 2 and Group 3 configurations, this child restraint system must be installed using the vehicle’s 3-point seat belt (UN ECE R16 type approval or equivalent standard), in these cases the ISOFIX connectors are optional and can be used as stabilisers.

RESTRICTIONS AND REQUIREMENTS REGARDING THE USE OF THE PRODUCT AND

VEHICLE SEAT

WARNING! Follow the restrictions and requirements for use of this product and the vehicle car seat at all times: safety will not be guaranteed otherwise.

  • This car seat is type-approved for use with children who weigh between 0 to 36 kg (from birth until roughly 12 years of age).

  • The vehicle seat must be equippedsystem must be installed using the vehicle’s 3-point seat belt (UN ECE R16 type approval or equivalent standard), in these cases the ISOFIX connectors are optional and can beused as stabilisers. with a 3-point safety harness, whether static or with a retractor, approved according to UN/ECE Regulation no. 16 or other equivalent standards
    (Fig. 1).

    • Never fit the child car seat to a seat that is only equipped with a 2-point safety belt
    (Fig. 2).

    • In the Group 0+ configuration (0-13 kg) the car seat may only be fixed to the front seat if the front airbag has been deactivated.
    • Never use this car seat on rear-facing or side-facing vehicle seats
    (Fig. 3).

  • This product is only intended to be used as a child car seat; it is not meant for use indoors.

  • In some cases the vehicle seat belt buckle may be too long and exceed the expected height from the bottom of the seat
    (Fig. 4).

    In this case the seat must not be fixed on that seat but must be installed on another seat on which there is no problem. For more information, contact your car manufacturer.

  • Group 2/3. When using in vehicles equipped with rear vehicle seat belt with integrated air bags (inflatable seat belts), follow the car manufacturer’s instruction manual.

ISOFIX AND SUPPORT LEG INSTALLATION

WARNING! The text and figures of these instructions refer to the installation of the child car seat on the right back seat. Follow the same steps to install the car seat in other positions.

Isofix connector installation

  • Pull the support leg (S) out from under the base of the car seat
    (Fig. 5).

  • Position the car seat on the seat of the vehicle.

  • Extract the Isofix connectors (P) completely, using the Isofix connector buttons (Q)
    (Fig. 6).

  • To make it easier to fasten the Isofix connectors, use the special plastic guides provided, attaching them to the vehicle’s Isofix hooks
    (Fig. 7.1).

  • Attach the Isofix connectors to the Isofix hooks located between the backrest and the seat of the vehicle. A click will be heard once the connection is made and the indicator (R) will become green.

  • Push the car seat back towards the backrest of the seat until it touches the backrest
    (Fig. 7.3).

Installing the support leg (only for Gr. 0+ and Gr. 1)
After having installed the base on the seat of the vehicle:

  • Adjust the support leg (S) using the adjustment buttons (U)
    (Fig. 8.1).

  • Position the support leg (S) so that it adheres firmly to the floor of the vehicle
    (Fig. 8.2), once the support leg has been positioned correctly the indicator (T) will turn green

    (Fig. 8.3).

    If the indicator is red, the support leg has not been positioned correctly. WARNING! Use of the support leg (S) is forbidden in the Group 2/3 configuration. Make sure that the support leg is not resting against the floor of the vehicle and has been shortened to its minimum length (Fig. 8.4). In this case the indicator for the support leg (T) will remain red.

Removing the Isofix connectors and the support leg

To remove the car seat, free the support leg from the floor of the vehicle using the adjustment buttons (U) to shorten the leg, then disconnect the Isofix connectors using the buttons (Q). Push the connectors all the way into the housing.

360° ROTATION OF THE SEAT

The car seat is equipped with a system that permits 360° rotation by operating the lever (N) (Fig. 9.1) to easily switch from the rear-facing position (Fig. 9.2) to the forward-facing position (9.3). When travelling the car seat must be locked in either the rear-facing or forward-facing position and seat rotation indicator (O) must be green. Rotating the seat by 90° to face the parent (Fig. 9.4) can be helpful when removing the child from the car seat, but it is not a travel position, and the indicator (O) will therefore remain red.
WARNING! NEVER use the car seat in the 90° position while travelling, thisposition is only meant for putting the child in the seat before travel and removing the child after travel.


USING THE CAR SEAT IN THE REAR-FACING POSITION: Gr. 0+ (0-13 kg) and Gr.

1 (9-18 kg) / 0-4years

When using the car seat in the Group 0+ (0-13 kg) configuration, it must ALWAYS be installed in the rear-facing position using the Isofix connectors and the support leg.
For the Group 1 (from 9 kg and up to 18 kg) configuration, installation in the rear-facing position is optional but strongly ADVISED to provide greater safety for the child.

  • Installing the car seat on the seat of the vehicle with Isofix and support leg (see paragraph 5. ISOFIX ANDSUPPORT LEG INSTALLATION).

  • Check the presence of the reducer on the basis of the instructions for use (see paragraph 8. USE OF THE REDUCER FOR INFANTS).

  • Position the car seat in the forward-facing position and act on the reclining lever (M) to recline the car seat fully until position 4 is reached (Fig. 10) then rotate into the rear-facing position (Fig. 9.2) making surethat the car seat is reclined in position 1.

  • Rotate the seat of the car seat using the lever (N) until it is positioned at 90°, facing the parent, to facilitate placing the child in the car seat. (fig. 9.4).

PLACING THE CHILD IN THE SEAT:

  • Press the belt adjustment button (K) and hold and pull both the car seat harnesses toward yourself until the maximum length is reached
    (Fig. 11.1).

  • Unbuckle the car seat belts by pressing the red button on the buckle
    (Fig. 11.2).

  • Hook the two buckle tongues of the belt to the sides of the car seat to facilitate placing the child in the seat
    (Fig. 11.3).

  • Place the baby in the car seat with care, join the two buckle tongues and fasten them in the buckle again
    (Fig. 11.4).

  •  To adjust belt tightness, pull the adjustment strap (L) upwards with caution until the belt is suitably tight
    (Fig.11.5).

  • Rotate the car seat into the rear-facing position making sure that the seat is locked in place (the indicator (O) must be green) (Fig. 9.2) and that the car seat is in position No. 1.

WARNING! NEVER use the car seat in the 90° position while travelling, this position is only meant for putting the child in the seat before travel and removing the child after travel.

WARNING! The only reclining position permitted in the rear-facing configuration is position No. 1.
WARNING! Check the car seat harnesses for proper tension, leaving at least one finger width of “wiggle room” between the child’s shoulder and the harness.

USE OF THE REDUCER FOR INFANTS

The car seat is equipped with a booster cushion composed of: seat, lateral inserts, pad and headrest.
The complete booster cushion, with all the components, must be used from birth to 8 kg.
The booster cushion can be used without the pad, lateral inserts and headrest from 9 kg to 12 kg. WARNING! The booster can only be used in the rear-facing position.

USING THE CAR SEAT IN THE FORWARD-FACING POSITION

Gr. 1 (9-18 kg) / ca. 1-4 years

The car seat can be fit front-facing in the Group 1 configuration (9-18 kg), ALWAYS using the Isofix connectors and support leg.

  • Installing the car seat on the seat ofthe vehicle with Isofix and support leg (see paragraph 5. ISOFIX AND SUPPORT LEG INSTALLATION).

  • Rotate the seat of the car seat using the lever (N) until it is positioned at 90°, facing the parent, to facilitate placing the child in the car seat (Fig.9.4). PLACING THE CHILD IN THE SEAT:

  •  Press the belt adjustment button (K) and hold and pull both the car seat harnesses toward yourself until the maximum length is reached (Fig. 11.1).

  • Unbuckle the car seat belts by pressing the red button on the buckle (Fig.11.2).

  • Hook the two buckle tongues of the belt to the sides of the car seat to facilitate placing the child in the seat (Fig. 11.3).

  • Place the baby in the car seat with care, join the two buckle tongues and fasten them in the buckle again (Fig. 11.4).

  • To adjust belt tightness, pull the adjustment strap (L) upwards with caution until the belt is suitably tight (Fig. 11.5).

  • Return the car seat to the forward-facing direction and check that the seat has locked in place (the indicator (O) must be green) (Fig. 9.3).

    WARNING! NEVER use the car seat in the 90° position while travelling, this position is only meant for putting the child in the seat before travel and removing the child after travel.
    WARNING! Check the car seat harnesses for proper tension, leaving at least one finger width of “wiggle room” between the child’s shoulder and the harness.

CHANGING THE CONFIGURATION OF THE CAR SEAT FROM GR. 1 (9-18 kg) TO GR.

2/3 (15-36 kg)

Use the following steps to change the car seat configuration from Group 1 to Group 2/3:

  • Press the belt adjustment button (K) and hold and pull both the Child Car Seat belts toward yourself until the maximum length is reached (Fig.13.1).

  • Open the shoulder straps, remove them (Fig. 13.2) and store themwhere they won’t get lost.

  • Remove the velcro from the central flap of the car seat to access the baseof the seat (Fig. 13.3).

  • Move the buckle plate from position 1 to position 2 (Fig. 13.4).

  • Pull the buckle out from the padded crotch strap (I) and have it run under the seat cover (Fig. 13.5).

  • Join the car seat harness buckle tongues together and insert them in the buckle (Fig. 13.6).

  • Open the compartment under the seat and place the buckle and harnesses inside (Fig. 13.7).

  • Pull out the belt positioner (Z) and have it run inside the padded crotch strap (I) (Fig. 13.8).

  • Fit the fabric cover back on the car seat.

USING THE CAR SEAT IN THE FORWARD-FACING POSITION: Gr. 2/3 (15-36 kg) /

ca. 4-12 years

  • Place the car seat on the chosen vehicle seat for installation in the forward facing direction (Fig. 9.3).

  • Use of the Isofix connectors (P) is optional. The car seat can be installed in the Group 2/3 configuration (15-36 kg) using both the Isofix connectors and the vehicle’s three-point seat belt, or just the vehicle’s 3-point seat belt. See paragraph 5 for installation with the Isofix connectors. ISOFIX AND SUPPORT LEG INSTALLATION.

  • Pass the diagonal portion of the belt through the red diagonal belt guide (C) found at the base of the headrest (Fig.14.1).

  • Carefully place your child in the seat, making sure their back is well supported by the backrest.

  • Fasten the vehicle seat belt to its buckle ensuring that both the waist and the diagonal strap pass through the waist belt slots (J) and have the waist strap segment pass inside the belt positioner (Z) (Fig. 14.2).

  • When adjusting the height of the headrest check that the red diagonal belt guide (C) is positioned above the shoulder at a maximum distance of 2 cm (Fig. 14.3).

  • Pull the diagonal portion of the belt toward the retractor, so that the belt is tight and fits snugly against the chest and legs of the child (Fig. 14.4)

    WARNING! Use of the support leg (S) is forbidden in the Group 2/3 configuration. Make sure that the support leg is not resting against the floor of the vehicle and has been shortened to its minimum length (Fig. 8.4). In this case the indicator for the support leg (T) will remain red.

WARNING! Make sure that the abdominal portion of the vehicle seat belt rests correctly on the waist of the child.
WARNING! Check that the child car seat is fitted correctly.
WARNING! Always check that the seat belt is distributed evenly at all points and that it is not twisted.
WARNING! Check that the diagonal seat belt fits correctly across your child’s shoulder and does not press on their neck, adjust the headrest if needed.
WARNING! Check that the car seatbelt retractor is behind the backrest of the car seat (Fig. 14.5).

WARNING! If you do not intend to remove the car seat from the vehicle, and it is not fastened with the Isofix connectors, reconnect the vehicle seat belt to its buckle so that it restrains the car seat even when no child is present; this will avoid danger in the event of an accident or the sudden braking of the car.

 ADJUSTING THE HEIGHT OF THE BELTS AND THE HEADREST

The height of the headrest and belts can be adjusted in one move, pulling up on the headrest adjustment ring (B) (Fig. 15).

To increase the height of the headrest release the safety belts by pressing button (K) and, at the same time, hold the two car seat harnesses under the shoulder straps and pull them towards you.
To lower the headrest, lift the ring (B) and push the headrest down.

ADJUSTING THE INCLINATION

To adjust the inclination, pull the lever located under the seat (M) towards you (Fig. 16).

WARNING! The only reclining position permitted for Group 0+/1 (0-18 kg) in the rear-facing configuration is position number 1.
WARNING! The only reclining position permitted for Group 3 (22-36 kg) in the forward-facing configuration is position number 4.
When using the Group 1 configuration, the car seat can be installed in either the forward-facing or rear-facing direction. The number of positions that can be used will however vary depending on which direction is used.
See the table above.

SUN CANOPY

The sun canopy is included with some  versions of the car seat.
To fit the canopy, simply attach it to the car seat headrest using the two buttons at the base of each arch (Fig. 17.1) and then pass the headrest adjustment ring (B) through the hole at the base of the canopy (Fig. 17.2).


To use the canopy, simply pull on the end of it and select the most suitable position to protect your child from the sun’s rays.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

Cleaning and maintenance operations must only be carried out by an adult.

CLEANING THE FABRIC COVER AND THE REDUCER

The car seat’s fabric cover can be removed completely and washed by hand or in a washing machine at 30 °C, while the reducer cushion can only be washed by hand.
Please refer to the care label for instructions on cleaning the seat fabric.

Never use abrasive detergents or solvents. Do not dry the fabric cover within a dryer, let it dry without squeezing it.
The fabric cover must only be replaced with another cover approved by the manufacturer, since it is an integral part of the child car seat and, therefore, one of its safety elements.
WARNING! To ensure the safety of the child car seat, never use it without its fabric cover.

To remove the fabric cover follow the instructions below:

Headrest
Remove the headrest and release the buttons (Fig. 18.1).
Seat
Free the velcro on the central flap (Fig. 18.2) and then remove the fabric from the body (Fig. 18.3).
To cover the car seat, repeat the steps described above in opposite order and use the supplied tool.

HOW TO CLEAN THE PLASTIC OR METAL PARTS

Clean the plastic and coated metal parts with a damp cloth only. Never use abrasive detergents or solvents. The moving parts of the child car seat must not be lubricated.

CHECKING THE CONDITION OF THE COMPONENTS

It is recommended to regularly check the condition of the following components to make sure they are not damaged or worn: Lining: check that the padding does not come out from the seams.
Check the condition of the seams: they must always be intact and undamaged.
harness straps: check that the fabric lining is not frayed and that the thickness of the harness strap is not worn out in the parts corresponding to the adjustment strap, crotch strap, shoulders and harness adjustment plate. plastic parts: check that the plastic parts are not worn out, damaged or faded.

WARNING! If the child car seat is damaged, deformed or excessively worn, it must be replaced as its original safety features may have been compromised.

STORING THE PRODUCT

When it is not fitted in the car, it is advisable to store the child car seat in a dry place, away from sources of heat and to protect it from dust, humidity and direct sunlight.

DISPOSING OF THE PRODUCT

When the child car seat no longer complies with the original safety standards, stop using it and dispose of it at an appropriate collection point.
Always dispose of the child car seat following the guidance and regulations set out in the country of use.

WARRANTY

The product is guaranteed against any lack of conformity under normal use as specified in the instructions.

The warranty does not, therefore, apply to damage caused by improper use, wear or accidents.
For the duration of the warranty against lack of conformity, see the specific provisions of applicable national laws in the country of purchase, where present.
