Safety Instructions
For important information about safety precautions for installation, refer to the VLT® DriveMotor FCP 106/FCM 106 Operating Instructions.
WARNING
DISCHARGE TIME
The frequency converter contains DC-link capacitors, which can remain charged even when the frequency converter is not powered. High voltage can be present even when the warning LED indicator lights are off. Failure to wait the specified time after the power has been removed before performing service or repair work can result in death or serious injury.
- Stop the motor.
- Disconnect AC mains and remote DC-link power supplies, including battery back-ups, UPS, and DC-link connections to other frequency converters.
- Disconnect or lock the PM motor.
- Wait for the capacitors to discharge fully. The minimum duration of waiting time is specified in Table 1.1.
- Before performing any service or repair work, use an appropriate voltage-measuring device to make sure that the capacitors are fully discharged.
Discharge Time
- Power ratings relate to normal overload (NO), see VLT® DriveMotor FCP 106/FCM 106 Operating Instructions.

FAQ
Q: What is the purpose of the minimum waiting time specified?
A: The minimum waiting time after power removal ensures that the DC-link capacitors are fully discharged to prevent any risk of electrical shock when performing service or repair work.
Q: Can the LCP be permanently remote-mounted for FCP 106 and FCM 106?
A: No, remote mounting of the LCP is only intended for temporary setup and maintenance purposes due to its IP54 protection class and lack of UL listing or recognition.
