Power adaptation

  • The voltage range of the power supply is 5-9V and the current range is 0.5-3A. To fully utilize the product’s performance, please use a 9V 3A power supply.
  • Lower output power may result in slow temperature rise and poor soldering effect.
  • If the power supply can not work normally due to insufficient power supply, please manually set the actual output value according to the Power On 【B】 process. For example, if the power supply output is 5V-2A, then you need to set the voltage to 5V and the current option to 1.8A or less in the 【B】 process.

Power On

  • When the power is turned on, will display for 1 second.
  • 【A】: If fast charging is automatically detected, will display for 1 second. During this time, it will switch to manual mode to set the voltage and current if press the button (see 【B】). The requested voltage “xxV” will be displayed for 1 second, followed by maximum current “xx”.
  • 【B】: During manual setting, the screen will display for 1 second, followed by “5V” or “9V” for 10 seconds (switch via a touch interface, press the button to confirm the setting). Next, “3A” “1.8A” “1A” or “0.5A” will be displayed for 10 seconds (switch via touch interface, and press the button to confirm the setting). After completing the power-on process, it will display to enter sleep mode. Press the button for 1 second to turn on and enter working mode.

Malfunction recognition

  1. If the iron fails to heat up for more than 2 seconds after powering on, and happens twice in a row, it is considered that the power supply may be insufficient. The device will enter the 【B】 process again and prompt the user to manually set the voltage and current.
  2. Over-time heating. If the touch interface is continuously pressed to control heating for more than 5 minutes, will be displayed, and the heating will be turned off. Releasing the touch interface can return to working mode.
  3. Heater missing. Pulling out the heater will display . Reinserting the heater and pressing the button can return to working mode.
  4. Heating malfunction. If the heating control component is damaged will be displayed.

Function and operation

  1. Product AppearanceK-KERNOWO-AE730D-Soldering-Iron-Portable-Mini-Soldering-Kit-FIG-9

    • Grounding port: Used for grounding the heater
    • Button: switching temperature and function operations
    • Button light: status indication and anti-scalding warning
    • Touch interface: controlling heating and numerical adjustment
    • Power interface: Type-C
    • LED segment: digital display
    • Heater: C210
  2. Anti-scalding warning
After heating, the button light is red. When not heating, the colour changes from red to yellow as the temperature decreases, and then gradually changes to green to indicate that the heater has dropped below 40°C. (Note, the button light is white when the temperature status is unknown. Do NOT touch the heater in this situation.)

  3. Temperature unit conversion
Hold the button when turning on the power. The temperature unit will switch from ℉ to ℃ or ℃ to ℉, and display . The switching finished.

  4. Heating control
Hold the touch interface to heat up. Release the touch interface to sleep and turn off the heating.

  5. Preset temperatures switching
    Short press the button to cycle through temperature settings (260 – 300 – 340 – 380 – 420 – Tx)℃ or (500 – 570 – 640 – 710 – 780 – Tx)℉. Tx is the temperature set by the user accordingly.

  6. Temperature Tx setting
Long press the button for 1 second, and the screen will show . Then release the button: Press the touch interface to increase or decrease the temperature by 1 degree, and long press to increase or decrease faster (adjustable range: 230-450℃ or 446-842℉). Single press the button: to switch the direction of temperature increase or decrease (for example, if you are pressing the touch interface to increase by +1, it will become -1 after you press the button again). Long press the button: to save the settings and exit.

  7. Temperature calibration

    • Set the temperature to 340℃ or 640℉ and wait for the temperature to stabilize.
    • Use a thermometer to measure the temperature of the soldering iron tip. Say 330℃ as an example.
    • Input the compensation value according to the calculated difference. For example, if it is 10℃ lower than the actual temperature, the compensation value is +10℃. Long press the button for 2 seconds. will be displayed. Release the button:
    • Press the touch interface: to add or subtract 1 degree from the temperature compensation value, and long press to add or subtract faster (adjustable range: +50 ~ -50℃ or +90 ~ -90℉). Short press the button: to switch the direction of adding or subtracting (for example, if you press the touch area to add 1, it will become -1 after you press the button again).
    • Long press the button: to save the settings and exit.
  8. Power off
Long press the button for 3 seconds. A screen will display . Release the button to turn off the heating, and the touch

  • The lifespan of this product depends on the used temperature, quality of solder wire and soldering paste, frequency of use etc.
  • Please repair and maintain it according to specific use conditions.

Warning

  • Please pay close attention when the product is in use at high temperatures or operation status.
  • Unless otherwise specified, cut off the power and unplug the product after use.

Soldering iron tip maintenance

  1. Set the temperature to 260℃ (500℉).
  2. After the temperature stabilizes, clean the soldering iron tip with brass wool and check its condition.
  3. If there is black oxide attached to the soldering iron tip, apply new solder (containing flux), and repeatedly wipe with brass wool until the oxide is removed. Then apply a new solder.
  4. If the soldering iron tip has been deformed, perforated or worn out, please replace it with a new one.

Troubleshooting Guide

Failure phenomenon Examination Dealing method

Not working after power is on

| Check whether charger and cable connections are tight| Reconnect the charger and cable

Test whether the power and connection cables are fine

| Connect to other devices and check if it works properly. If it does, check whether the output voltage and current meet the requirements for operating the soldering iron.

The display shows

“S-E”

| Whether the heater is well inserted into the cartridge| Reinsert the heater
Check if the heater is damaged (the resistance of the heater should be less than 10Ω at room temperature).|

If damaged, replace the heater

The display

shows “H-E”

| Check if the heater is damaged| If damaged, replace the heater
Check if misidentification is caused by insufficient power supply| Change the higher-wattage power supply
The solder won’t attach to the soldering tip| Check if the soldering tip temperature is too high| Adjust to a suitable temperature
Check if there’s oxidation on
