Downloading the Sofabaton app and Wi-Fi setup
-
Download the Sofabaton app by scanning the QR code
Visit the App Store or Google Play and search for the Sofabaton app. -
Launch the app and login or create a new account
-
Select Setup New Hub
-
Continue through the various screens following the instructions:
- Plug the supplied power adapter into the X1S-Hub.
- Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your iPhone.
- Ensure your phone is connected to your home’s Wi-Fi network.
- Press the button and hold for three seconds to keep the hub in a pairing state.
The Sofabaton app should find your hub after several seconds.
-
Once your phone and hub have paired over Bluetooth you will be asked to enter your Wi-Fi credentials.
-
The app will automatically connect to the last connected Hub. If your phone has not connected before, you can click on Connect to Hub and choose the desired Hub from the list that appears after scanning.
-
If your app fails to find the hub, check the following:
- When connecting to Wi-Fi for the first time, the hub may automatically upgrade its Wi-Fi configuration. The app cannot find the hub during the upgrade. Please wait for 3-5 minutes and refresh the page.
- The app communicates with the hub via the WLAN. If your phone is connected to 5G Wi-Fi, please change to 2.4G Wi-Fi, which is what the hub is already connected to
- If VPN is used on the mobile phone, the app may fail to discover the hub on the WLAN. Please ensure that your VPN is turned off, then disconnect and reconnect your Wi-Fi. Following that, restart the app for the changes to take effect.
Adding devices
- Launch the app and enter the Devices page.
- Press the “+” button at the top of your screen to add your entertainment devices.
- For infrared controlled devices, you can add them by searching the brand and model.
- If the model has no corresponding codebase, you can also filter the appropriate codebase by command testing. Of course, you can learn from your original remote.
- For Bluetooth devices, after the app downloads the code-base, you also need to go to the device Settings to confirm the pairing.
- To add an Apple TV, for example, you need to go to the Apple TV Settings, navigate to the Bluetooth entry, find the device with Sofabaton as the prefix name, and then click it to complete the pairing.
- For Wi-Fi devices, the app can directly search for devices on the same WLAN (Roku, Sonos, Philips hue).
- After the device is added, the app may remind you to complete the device’s Power setting and Source configuration, which are used for activity control.
- For power settings, you generally only need to check and confirm the default settings.
- Source configuration is only required for devices that need to switch input, such as a TV, projector, AV receiver, etc.
- For the source configuration, the X1S system needs to know how your device switches between inputs, which inputs are available, and how they are arranged. This allows the system to calculate the steps when the activity starts and automatically switch to the correct input.
- If your remote has a unique button/command for every input on the device, the app screen will advise you to choose the direct input switching mode, and automatically select possible inputs for you to confirm.
- You can watch video tutorials on Power settings and Source configuration.
Creating an Activity
- Launch the app and enter the Activities page.
- Press the “+” button at the top of your screen to create a new Activity.
- Follow the on-screen instructions:

- Select the device you want the X1S Volume keys to control.
- Select the device you want the other keys of the X1S-Re-mote to control.

- If you’d like to further modify the Activity by adding additional commands, press Edit for the Activity and select Startup settings to add a command or a delay.
- For example, if your TV takes a long time to turn on, you may need to add a delay and move it to a position between turning on and switching inputs.
Using Alexa and Google Assistant
The Sofabaton X1S supports the use of Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant to turn an Activity on or off.
- You can refer to the guide or watch video tutorials on how to sync your accounts for Alexa and Google Assistant.
- The X1S-Remote doesn’t have a microphone to receive voice commands, and you’ll need to use your Echo or Google Home smart speaker to control activities.
- You need to first create Activities using the Sofaba-ton app and sync them by account linking in the Amazon Alexa or Google Home app.
- After syncing, you can turn Activities on or off with voice commands, but you can’t control the device.
- If you need voice control for a device, you can set it up as a separate Activity.
