POOLEX SPAWER Kit By-Pass
Specifications
- Product: By-pass Kit
- Compatible with spa hydraulic circuits of 48mm
- Manufacturer: Poolstar
- Website: www.poolstar.fr
Product Information
Operating Principle:
The by-pass kit is designed to be positioned at the outlet of the filtration
pump and upstream of your heat pump on the hydraulic circuit. It includes by-
pass valves of 32mm and 50mm for different setups.
Hydraulic and Electrical Installation:
Ensure the heat pump is installed at the outlet of the filtration pump for
proper functioning of the flow sensor, which is essential for safe water flow
and starting up the heat pump. The kit includes components such as the filter,
control unit, electric heater, circulation pump, spa heater control relay, and
a wall plug (230V 16A 10mA).
Electrical Installation of the Control Relay:
The control relay, supplied with the SPAWER heat pump, needs to be connected
correctly to components like the SPA heater (3kW 230V) and the SPA heater
controller. Insulate connectors inside a waterproof connection box for safety.
Assembly instructions are provided for proper installation, either on the back
of the heat pump or inside the spa, depending on available space and
preferences. Flexible PVC piping allows for customized installation based on
part distances.
Operating principle
The SPAWER by-pass has been designed to fit the hydraulic circuit of a spa
with a diameter of 48 mm in flexible pipes.
To install your heat pump, it is essential to create a by-pass system on your
installation. The by-pass kit is a by-pass on your filtration pipe: it allows
you to adapt the flow rate through your heat pump. The by-pass kit consists of
two valves, an inlet and an outlet for the heat pump, and a third valve
between the first two. This kit regulates the flow of water through the heat
pump.
Installation principle
The by-pass kit should be positioned at the outlet of the filtration pump and upstream of your heat pump on the hydraulic circuit.
Hydraulic and electrical installation of the heat pump
Note: Install your heat pump at the outlet of the filtration pump so that the flow sensor works. The flow sensor is used to ensure safe water flow. If it is not working, the heat pump will not start up.
Electrical installation of the control relay
(option supplied with your SPAWER heat pump)
The SPA heater SPAWER driver system consists of a power relay (230V50Hz / 30A) which plugs into the heater phase wire (between the SPA heater controller output and the heater itself). This relay is controlled by the heat pump control box either automatically or manually (boost). As such, for the system to work properly, it is imperative to set the desired temperature of the SPA water to the maximum on the SPA control screen and to programme the filtration time. In this way, the actual temperature setting will now be done on the heat pump or via the smartphone application. To set your spa heater to automatic or manual mode, refer to your heat pump manual. For an O’SPA, refer to page 16. For an ICE SPA, refer to page 21.
Fitting the by-pass kit to Ø48mm flexible pipes
Assemble the kit components as shown in the diagram opposite. Depending on the space available around and in your spa, you can choose to install it either on the back of the heat pump (option 1) or inside the spa (option 2).
Note: Choosing to use flexible PVC piping allows for customised installation depending on the distance between the various parts to be connected.
Assembly instructions
- To connect to the 48 mm diameter spa pipes, use the reduced 48/50 mm sleeve (item C).
- Cut the PVC piping (parts C, D, E and G) to the required dimensions for your installation.
- If pipe E is not long enough for your installation, assemble two pipes E using part H.
- Use 2 x 50 mm rigid or flexible PVC sleeves (mark D not supplied) depending on the space available in your spa.
- Use a clean cloth to apply the stripper supplied to the parts to be glued: A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H and part of part I assembled on part F (see diagram below). The stripper prepares and cleans the surfaces for optimum bonding.
- Double-glue the parts to be bonded using PVC pipe adhesive. Apply the adhesive using the brush supplied to the parts to be bonded: A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H and part of part I assembled on part F. Caution: Allow to dry for 24 hours (depending on PVC adhesive) before pressurising the circuit.
- Connect the heat pump using the Ø32mm pipes supplied (mark E) to position yourself as close as possible to the spa.
- Connect parts I or J to the inlet and outlet of your heat pump. Apply Teflon tape to the threaded connections: part of parts I and J connected to your heat pump. Make several turns with the Teflon tape supplied around the thread.
- Option 1: Install the by-pass kit directly to the back of the heat pump with Ø32mm valves.
- Option 2: Install the by-pass kit directly inside the spa with Ø32mm valves. The length of flexible PVC E should be determined according to the position of the heat pump in relation to the spa.

FAQ
Q: Where should I position the by-pass kit in my spa’s hydraulic circuit?
A: The by-pass kit should be placed at the outlet of the filtration pump and
before the heat pump to ensure proper functioning.
Q: What should I do if the flow sensor is not working?
A: If the flow sensor is not working, the heat pump will not start up. Check
connections and ensure proper installation at the outlet of the filtration
pump.
