Description
This installation sheet includes information on the 3000 Series Intelligent Addressable Class A/B Heat Detectors shown in the table below.
Model | Device type | Description |
---|---|---|
KE-DT3101W- HAB | HDni | Intelligent addressable class A/B heat detector with |
integrated short circuit isolator (white)
KE-DT3001W- HAB| HDn| Intelligent addressable class A/B heat detector (white)
The detectors use a fixed temperature/rate-of-rise sensor to detect heat.
The detectors determine whether to signal a fire alarm condition by monitoring
the temperature of the surrounding air and analysing the data to determine
whether to initiate an alarm.
All 3000 Series detectors support the Kidde Excellence protocol and are compatible for use with 2X-A Series fire alarm control panels with firmware version 5.0 or later. The detectors are backwards compatible with 2000 Series devices.
Installation
WARNING: Electrocution hazard. To avoid personal injury or death from electrocution, remove all sources of power and allow stored energy to discharge before installing or removing equipment.
Caution: For general guidelines on system planning, design, installation, commissioning, use and maintenance, refer to the EN 54-14 standard and local regulations.
Install and wire the mounting base, as described in the installation sheet
supplied with the base.
Installing the detector head
Insert the detector head into the mounting base and rotate it clockwise until
it snaps into the locked position (see Figure 2).
The detector may be locked into the mounting base if required. To do this,
remove the locking tab before installation (see Figure 1).
To remove a locked detector:
- Insert a small screwdriver into the locking tab slot (Figure 1).
- Press and rotate the detector anticlockwise.
Addressing the detector
Set the device address using the rotary dials on the detector head. The
address range is 001-128.
Use the X10 dial to set the tens and the X1 dial to set the ones, as shown in
the figures below.
Device status
The device status is indicated by the status LED (Figure 1, item 2), as shown in the table below.
State | Indication |
---|---|
Alarm | Steady red LED |
Prealarm | Flashing red LED |
Isolation active [1] | Steady yellow LED |
Device fault | Flashing yellow LED |
Located device [2] | Steady green LED |
Communicating [3] | Flashing green LED |
[1] KE-DT3101W-HAB only. [2] Indicates an active Locate Device command from the control panel. [3] This indication can be disabled from the control panel or the Configuration Utility application.
Detector sensitivity
Configure the detector sensitivity at the control panel or using the Configuration Utility application.
Sensitivity settings
The available sensitivity settings are shown below.
Setting | Class |
---|---|
1 | A2S |
2 (default) | A2R |
3 | BR |
The default sensitivity setting is the same for Day mode and Night mode.
Heat sensitivity settings are based on the following temperature ranges.
Application temperature | Static response temperature |
---|---|
Class | Description |
A2S | Fixed temperature |
A2R | Rate-of-rise |
BR | Rate-of-rise |
Maintenance and testing
Maintenance and cleaning
Basic maintenance consists of a yearly inspection. Do not modify internal
wiring or circuitry.
Clean the outside of the detector using a damp cloth. If required, clean the
inside of the detector (to remove dust and debris) using a vacuum cleaner.
Testing
Always test detectors after installation to ensure that the detector
communicates with the control panel. If the detector does not communicate with
the control panel, check that duplicate addresses have not been assigned.
