Introduction
in.stream 2 audio station for spas
in.stream 2 audio system offers you the perfect means to bring music into your spa. The in.stream 2 is simple to install and compatible with numerous audio sources. For example, you may connect the in.stream 2 to an iPod using the auxiliary audio input or play music wirelessly using a Bluetooth mobile device. Listen to music in MP3 format saved on a USB flash disk or tune in to an FM station of your choice using the in.stream 2 integrated FM receiver. Depending on the configuration used, the in.stream 2 can handle up to 4 speakers and one subwoofer.
The audio station can be used to charge most mobile devices on the market with its onboard USB charger controller.

Dimensions
Installation
in.stream 2 positioning
To prevent water from getting inside the device, the in.stream 2 should be
installed on a vertical surface as shown below:
Note: The in.stream 2 must be installed at least 4″ (100mm) above potential flood level. A clearance of at least 0.75″ (19 mm) is required to have a free heat circulation at the back of the unit.
Secure the in.stream 2 onto two wall studs.
Firmly attach upper mounting holes one at a time on each side of the
apparatus.
Repeat the process for lower mounting holes.
The following materials are recommended:
4 # 10 screws of appropriate length with round, truss or pan head.
4 washers 0.5″ OD x .0625” thickness (12 mm OD x 1.5 mm)
Note:
- Do not use foil insulation in front of the unit.
- Place the unit far from any radio noise source such as variable speed control and motor.
- If present, install the FM antenna in a vertical orientation and fully deployed.
- This unit is equipped with an automatic audio volume control that is active when temperature inside the enclosure is very high.
You may also mount your audio station using two different types of brackets (optional): in.stream 2 installation procedure with standard wall mounting bracket
Flat aluminum bracket are designed for back wall mounting.
Fasten the mounting bracket to the back of the in.stream 2 with the supplied
screws.
Part number:
Wall mount bracket kit 100 pcs – 9920-101474 (with 200 screws to attach to
unit)
Using the bracket, fasten unit to 2″ x 4″ or 2″ x 6″ timber wall studs under the spa. We recommend using #10 self threading screws with pan or truss heads and washers 1/2″ OD x 1/16” (12 mm OD x 1.5 mm).
Note: The in.stream 2 must be installed at least 4″ (100 mm) above potential flood level. If floor is on ground level, pack should be raised at least 4″ (100 mm).
in.stream 2 installation procedure with wall mounting Z-bracket
The aluminum Z-bracket is designed for flush-mounting the unit directly on the
edge of the access door frame of your spa.
Fasten the mounting bracket to the back of the in.stream 2 with the supplied
screws.
Part number:
Z-bracket kit 100 pcs – 9920-101478 (Comes with 200 screws to attach to unit.)
Depending on your specific needs, you can fasten with two #10-24 screws of
your choice.
Note: The in.stream 2 must be installed at least 4″ (100 mm) above
potential flood level. If the floor is on ground level, the pack should be
raised by at least 4″ (100 mm).
Connections
Preparation
**** To prevent electric shock hazard, do not connect to main power supply while the cover is removed.
Remove the cover screws from the front of the apparatus with a Phillips screw driver.

Connecting the docking station in.p4 to the in.stream 2
The in.p4 docking station features a USB and an 1/8″ (3,5 mm) audio input mini
jack connector.
To connect the docking station into the in.stream 2, simply insert the USB cable into the USB receptacle and the 1/8″ (3,5 mm) mini jack into the AUX receptacle as illustrated.
Route both cables through the molded strain relief channel as illustrated.
Completing the cabling
When all the audio cables are connected, put back the foam gaskets and the
cover. Tighten the cover screws with the Phillips screw driver ensuring you do
not overtighten them.
Complete the cabling as follow:
- Connect the AC power cable of the in.stream 2 to a direct output of the spa pack. See the documentation related to your specific pack model for more details on this connection.
- Connect the CO cable of the in.stream 2 to the CO connector of the spa pack. See the documentation related to your specific pack model for more details on this connection.
Bluetooth overview
Pairing with a Bluetooth enabled device
The in.stream 2 can play music from any device equipped with Bluetooth wireless technologies, however, you must pair your mobile device to the audio receiver in order to do so.
The system is ready to pair when it is not already connected to another device. To pair your device, make sure that you are close enough to the in.stream 2, that it is turned on and that it is set in Bluetooth mode.
Note: In basic configuration (not connected to a keypad or controller), the in.stream 2 is set in Bluetooth mode. Otherwise, please refer to your specific keypad operating manual for details on the in.stream 2 functions.
Follow these steps to pair your device
-
Open the Bluetooth settings on your device. The location of the settings will depend on the device you are using.
-
Make sure Bluetooth is on.
-
Select “in.stream 2” in the list of discoverable Bluetooth devices detected nearby.
-
When prompted, enter 5555 as the PIN Code.
-
Once the pairing is done select in.stream 2 and when connected is displayed the in.stream 2 will be ready to start playing the selected audio.
Note: If the device moves out of range and loses connection, it should reconnect automatically as soon as it is close enough. This should happen without having to go through the menu again.
The in.stream 2 will keep up to 8 devices in its memory. If one of the last three connected devices is in range and has its Bluetooth turned on, it will automatically connects with in.stream 2.
If multiple devices are within range and have already been paired with the in.stream 2, priority will be given to the device that was first detected in the in.stream 2 memory.
Firmware update
The in.stream 2 firmware can be updated in the field. This is done using a USB flash disk inserted in the in.stream 2 USB connector. The USB connector is accessible by removing the in.stream 2 cover. See the Connection section of the user manual for details on removing the cover. See the following picture for the location of the USB connector.
Extract both folders from the provided “in.stream 2” archive and copy those folders (with their contents) on the root directory of a USB flash disk with a capacity of 8GB to 32GB. Insert the USB flash disk in the in.stream 2 USB connector and the process should start by itself. The status led should be checked to see what happens during the update. See the following picture for the location of the status led.
Warning: Do not disconnect power to the in.stream 2 or remove the flash disk during firmware update since this can make the in.stream 2 unbootable and it will be necessary to send it back in for repair.
Warning: At anytime, if a flash disk containning sofware update files is inserted into the USB connector, always remove it while the power is ON, wait 5 seconds and then power off the system.
Attention: If the update process does not start or does not end, make sure to disconnect the flash disk prior to power off the system and reboot to try the process again.
During all the software update process, the status led should be flashing, stop flashing and restart flashing several times. Consider the update over when the status led stays solid ON for at least 20 seconds.
The process should take about 3 minutes to complete. After the update is finished, the in.stream 2 should operate using the new firmware. Normally, a power on reset is not needed to reboot the system following the software update.
If the system does not start by itself, make sure to disconnect the flash disk
and then just power off the system and reboot it.
