  1. USB wireless input accepts a USB receiver for use with Behringer ULM wireless microphones.

  2. GAIN knob adjusts the sensitivity of the MIC and/or LINE inputs.

  3. COMP knob adjusts the amount of compression effect on the channel.

  4. EQ knobs adjust the high, mid and low frequencies of the channel.

  5. AUX knobs adjust how much of the channel’s signal is sent to the AUX SEND jacks.
Pressing the PRE button on the QX1204USB sends the AUX 1 signal pre-fader. AUX 1 is always sent pre-fader on the Q1204USB.

  6. PAN/BAL knob positions the channel in the stereo field.

  7. MUTE button removes the channel from the MAIN MIX and sends it to the ALT 3-4 bus.

  8. CLIP LED lights when the channel signal begins to overload.

  9. SOLO (QX1204USB) button sends the channel to the main VU meters for gain setting.

  10. CHANNEL FADER adjusts the channel volume.

  11. MULTI-FX PROCESSOR (QX1204USB) adds a selected sound effect to any channels whose FX knob is turned up. See Multi-FX Processor section for details.

  12. AUX SENDS adjust the amount of signal sent to a monitor speaker or effects processor via the AUX SEND jacks.

  13. AUX RETURNS adjust the amount of signal returning from an effects processor that is included in the main mix.

  14. PHONES/CTRL RM knob adjusts the headphone or monitor speaker volume.

  15. VU METER displays the MAIN OUTPUT signal level.

  16. SOURCE buttons route the USB/2-TR, ALT 3-4 or MAIN MIX to the PHONES and CONTROL ROOM jacks.

  17. MODE (QX1204USB) button determines whether the channels’ SOLO button operates as ‘Solo in Place’ (button out) or ‘Pre-Fader Listen’ (button in). PFL is preferred for gain setting purposes.

  18. ALT 3-4 fader(s) adjust(s) the output of the ALT 3-4 jacks.

  19. MAIN MIX faders adjust the overall output of the mixer.

  20. USB/2-TR TO MAIN button routes the USB and 2-TRACK signals to the MAIN MIX.

XENYX QX1204USB/Q1204USB Getting started

Step 3: Getting started

  1. Make sure the power to all devices is turned off! Connect all the appropriate power, audio and USB cables to the mixer.

  2. Set all controls as shown above (EQ and PAN/BAL centered, all others down/off).

  3. Turn the mixer on.

  4. Set the GAIN for each channel.
See the Gain Setting section for details.

  5. With the MAIN MIX faders and PHONES/CTRL RM knob all the way down, turn your power amp or powered speakers on.

  6. Slowly raise the MAIN MIX faders or PHONES/CTRL RM knob to 0 or to desired level.

  7. Adjust the relative level of various microphones and instruments by raising each CHANNEL FADER.

  8. Adjust the left-right position of a channel in the stereo field if necessary by turning the channel’s PAN or BAL knob.

  9. To add compression to an input, adjust the COMP knob until the adjacent LED lights up. This reduces the dynamics and increases the perceived loudness of the channel.XENYX QX1204USB Premium 12 Input 2-2 Bus Mixer - parts7

  10. For live applications, adjust the overall output from the mixer to the power amp or powered speakers by raising the MAIN MIX faders. If the red CLIP LEDs on the VU METER light, lower the MAIN MIX faders.XENYX QX1204USB Premium 12 Input 2-2 Bus Mixer - parts8

  11. Use the channel AUX knobs and master AUX SEND knobs to send the channel’s signal to an effects processor or monitor speaker connected to the AUX SEND jacks. If used for effects, this signal should be returned to one of the AUX RETURN jacks.XENYX QX1204USB Premium 12 Input 2-2 Bus Mixer - parts9

XENYX QX1204USB/Q1204USB Gain Setting

Setting the channel gain for the QX1204USB:

  1. Press the Channel 1 SOLO button. Press the MODE button next to the VU METER to allow the METER to operate in PFL (pre-fader listen) mode.
  2. Sing, speak or play at a normal level through the microphone or instrument connected to Channel 1.
  3. While singing or playing, turn Channel 1’s GAIN control. The VU METER will display the signal level. Set the GAIN control so that the loudest peaks reach 0 on the VU METER. Press the Channel 1 SOLO button again.
  4. Repeat steps 1-3 for any other channels that will be used. For channels 5/6 and 7/8, start with the +4/-10 button out. If the signal is too low to register on the VU meters, press the button in to boost the gain.

Setting the channel gain for the Q1204USB:

  1. Raise Channel 1’s fader to 0. Sing, speak or play at a normal level through the microphone or instrument connected to Channel 1.
  2. While singing or playing, turn Channel 1’s GAIN control until the Channel 1 CLIP LED flashes occasionally, but not constantly.
