Product Usage Instructions
Installation
- Remove factory radio from the dashboard (specific removal procedure may vary)
- Disconnect the 9-pin plug from the radio if the vehicle has a separate player
- Connect the installation harness 9-pin plug to the radio
- If the vehicle has BOSE, reconnect the factory 9-pin plug to the 9-pin socket on the install harness
- Connect one end of the supplied aux cable to the module AUX jack and route the other end to the front of the dashboard or where the audio device will be placed
Operation
- Turn the ignition and radio ON
- Press the AUX button on the radio to enter AUX Mode
- Connect the audio cable to your device
- Ensure the volume on your device is set to 80% or higher
- Adjust playback volume using the radio volume control button

Requirement
1995-05 GM THEFLOCK RADIOS
Introduction
Many GM owners are looking for an aux input solution as a means to connect and listen to portable audio devices. To do that an auxiliary input adapter is required. Enter the DCS-GM1. The DCSGM1 connects to a 9-pin port on select1995-05 GM Theftlock radios and takes the place of the remote CDchanger, slave or separate unit. Connecting an Aux adapter to most usually requires disconnecting the slave or separate unit (e.g. Cassette player, CD player or multi-disc CD changer**), but if the vehicle has a CD changer or separate slave unit; purchase our AUX-GM1 or A2D-GM1 instead. Warning: 1995-99 radios with the “CD/AUX” button on the faceplate are NOT capable or recognizing this adapter and therefore NOT compatible. 2000-05 radios with “CD/AUX” button on the faceplate are compatible as well as the 1995-05 radios with the “TAPE/AUX” button on the faceplate.
Installation
- Remove factory radio from dash (Vehicle-specific radio procedure is not part of this guide but may be available upon request)
- If the vehicle is equipped with a separate player; disconnect the 9-pin plug from (See. Fig. 1)—The slave unit remains disconnected and will no longer play.
- Connect installation harness 9-pin plug (See Fig. 2) to radio (See Fig. 1)
- If the vehicle has “BOSE”, reconnect the factory 9-pin plug to the 9-pin socket (white) on the install harness
- Connect one end of the supplied aux cable to the module AUX jack (See Fig. 3) and route the other end to the front of the dashboard or wherever the audio device will reside.
- Route audio cable to where the audio device will reside (within 6 ft.)
Operation
- Turn the ignition and radio “ON”
- Press the “AUX” button on the radio to enter AUX Mode
- Connect the audio cable to your device (See Fig. 4)
- Place the device in play mode and ensure the volume is set to 80% or more.
- Use the radio volume control button to set the playback level.
Warning! Playlist and Track selection are NOT possible from the GM
radio.
You must use the audio device’s built-in controls to access audio files.
External or remote CD changer refers to an optional changer installed in the
lower dash, centre armrest, hatch, trunk etc. (external CD changers arenot
built into the radio)

Why are 1995-00 radios with CD buttons on the faceplate not compatible with the DCS-GM1?
It appears GM did not program earlier (e.g. 1995-99) CD radios (Fee Fig.8) to control a separate CD or Tape player; however, this feature was added to 2000-05 CD radios. If your 1995-99 CD radio happens to have a separate single CD player or Tape player attached, then it will support the DCS-GM1. All 1995-05 radios with the “TAPE” button are compatible with the DCS-GM1. -
My 1999 Silverado truck has a CD player/radio in the upper dash plus a separate Tape player below climate controls. Will the DCS-GM1 work?
YES. Any vehicle with a separate unit has been programmed to control this adapter and is therefore compatible. 1995-99 radios with CD button on faceplate without separate/slave unit in the lower dash are not compatible.
This restriction applies only to 1995-99 radios with CD buttons. -
My vehicle has a separate Tape player in the lower dash, will the DCS-GM1 work?
YES; but a separate Tape player must be disconnected and will no longer function. -
My vehicle has a separate single CD player below climate controls, will the DCS-GM1 work?
YES; but a separate CD player must be disconnected and will no longer play. -
I prefer music streaming in my truck and being able to keep a separate player (CD or TAPE) in the lower dash. Do you offer a solution by which I will not have to disconnect the separate player?
YES; Purchase our A2D-GM1 which requires and retains a separate player (cassette, CD or CD Changers in lower dash) -
When I decide to remove the DCS-GM1, will I have any troubles with the factory wiring?
NO; the DCS-GM1 plug-n-play harness does not interfere with the factory wiring integrity. Once disconnected, the system will function as it did prior. -
My vehicle has two separate players; one in the lower dash and a CD changer in the armrest. Will the DCS-GM1 work?
YES, but both separate units must be disconnected. See our AUX-GM1 or A2D-GM1 to retain separate players.
Separate/Slave units (CD or Tape) installed in the lower dash or below climate controls must be disconnected. Theftlock AM/FM Radio resides in the upper dash.
