Introductions
- If you want to combine an older antenna model with a new EHU, you need the EHU Guide Tube Modification Kit supplied by us.
- The kit provides a connection between the new EHU and the older internal guide tubes.
- This short manual explains how to correctly install the EHU Guide Tube Modification Kit.
Models with internal guide tubes
- All UltraBeam models with folded elements have internal guide tubes on the left and right elements that are connected to the motor unit.
- All motor units of the vertical loop elements require the installation of internal guide tubes in the upper elements connected to the motor unit.
Construction of the internal guide tubes
Assembly
-
“You can’t stick on dirt”: Degrease the ends of the tubes with thinner, spirit or similar and then avoid touching the bonding area.
-
Join the parts of the internal guide tube and secure the connection with commercially available electrician insulating tape (not supplied, Figs. 1 – 3). The adhesive layer of the insulating tape should ‘smear’ as little as possible and also be as heat-resistant as possible so that it does not dissolve later in the sun.
-
Push the guide tube completely into the GRP tube up to the outer edge of the black cone (Figs. 4 – 6).
-
Insert the GRP tube with the black cone first into the GRP part of the EHU as far as it will go (Figs. 7 + 8).
Important: The outer edge of the black cone must be firmly clamped between the edge of the GRP tube and the stop inside the EHU!! -
Fix the GRP tube to the EHU using the sleeve and the two clamps as shown in Fig. 9.
Version for cut tube
- In case you have cut off the extended end of the internal guide tube, we have supplied a connecting piece. This is fitted between the two internal tubes as shown in the illustration.
- The joints are also fixed here with insulating tape (Figs. 12). The installation of the GRP tube with the internal guide tube is the same as in Figure 4 – 9.
