Document and credit card shredder
Please observe the safety instructions before using the device for the first
time.
SAFETY INFORMATION
- The shredder is only suitable for shredding paper and credit cards. Any other use or modification should be considered inappropriate and involves a significant risk of injury.
- Always keep all loose items such as, for example, clothing, ties, jewellery and all other small items away from the entrance of the automatic feeder to avoid injury.
- Unplug the machine if the document shredder is not used for a long period of time to avoid damage or injury.
- Remove all paper clips and staples before inserting paper. Although the machine is capable of shredding staples this is not recommended (to avoid damage and injury).
- Always remember to keep your fingers and hands away from the entrance of the automatic feeder to avoid serious injury.
- Do not insert fingers into the central opening of the shredder. This is to avoid serious injury
- The appliance should be positioned as close as possible to an accessible power socket to avoid the danger of tripping over the cable.
- The document shredder must always be switched off and disconnected from the power supply before moving, transporting and cleaning the device and before emptying the waste bin to avoid any risk of injury.
- Empty the waste bin frequently. Otherwise the shredder may jam.
- Please do not leave the device unattended, e.g. the document shredder near children or pets. There is a risk of injury through improper handling.
- Never open the housing of the device.
- The appliance must not be operated with a damaged power supply cable in order to avoid electric shocks or short circuits.
- Please read the instructions before starting up the unit.
- For indoor use only.
- This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they are supervised or instructed in the use of this appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
- Keep children away from the appliance to make it difficult for them to play with it.
Note: The device can be used for a maximum of two minutes at a time and then left to cool for 60 minutes.
PREPARATION OFDOCUMENTS
FOR THE SHREDDER
- Securely mount the shredder on the basket. Be careful not to pinch your fingers between the top edge of the shredder basket.
- Plug the plug into a 230V AC power socket. Important: Make sure that the document shredder is correctly mounted on the basket. Only then will destroyed credit cards fall into the basket.
STARTUP Document shredder
Important note:
This appliance is intended for private indoor use only and short operation of
no more than 2 minutes. Do not use the document shredder for commercial or
outdoor use. Improper use poses a risk of accidents.
◼ AUTO position
The shredding operation starts automatically as soon as the paper to be
shredded is inserted into the input of the automatic feeder. Once the
shredding operation is complete, the machine au- tomatically switches off.
◼ REV position (two functions)
- Removal of paper jam. In this case, the direction of the shredding operation is reversed before the end of the working cycle in order to free the remnants from the space between the cutting discs. If you notice that too much paper has been inserted and the shredding operation has noticeably slowed down – immediately move the switch to this position, even if a document has been accidentally inserted.
- Credit card shredding: Insert credit cards individually and vertically in the designated area. place, in the middle of the gap.
◼ Position OFF
To empty the waste bin or if the appliance is not used for a long period of
time, turn the switch to OFF and disconnect the appliance from the power
outlet to avoid the risk of injury.
Destructive capacity
The machine can destroy up to 5 sheets of A4 paper at a time (80g/m2
thickness). The width of the paper must not exceed 21.8cm. When shredding
smaller documents such as letters or receipts and credit cards, feed them into
the centre of the automatic feeder input.
Make sure that no more than the above- mentioned maximum number of documents
are inserted into the shredder. Otherwise, the machine may be damaged.
PROTECTION AGAINST JAMMING AND OVERLOADING
The appliance is equipped with motor overload protection. To protect the unit, operate it in this way: run for 2 minutes, then rest for 60 minutes. The automatic feeder will be disconnected in the following situations:
- Continuous operation of the document shredder at maximum capacity for extended periods of time, for example, more than 2 minutes without interruption.
- Exceeding the maximum number of fed documents, e.g. feeding more than 5 sheets of paper (809/m2) in one operation or if the paper is not inserted in the correct orientation. In the above-mentioned conditions, the automatic motor overload protection is triggered, after which the supply current to the unit is cut off. In this case, the following steps must be taken:
- Disconnect the plug from the mains socket to avoid the risk of serious injury and wait at least 60 minutes for the overload protection to reset. Now tear off the excess paper from the top of the shredder or remove it.
- Plug the plug into the mains socket and set the switch to the REV position. Pull the remaining pa- pier away from the cutting disc blades. Then s et the switch back to the AUTO position. If necessary, repeat this operation.
- With the switch in the AUTO position and the feeder slot open, the normal shredding process can now continue.
CLEANING
- DANGER! Absolutely disconnect the power cord before cleaning. Otherwise there is a risk of electric shock and other injuries!
- WARNING! The blades of the device are very sharp! Danger of injury!
- Empty the waste bin regularly. Clean the entrance of the automatic feeder with an envelope knife wrapped in a soft, damp cloth and, if necessary, a mild detergent.
- Remove any residue in the cutting openings with a suitable tool. Ensure that the power cord is not plugged into an_ electrical outlet during cleaning to avoid injury.
