Getting Started

The BT-RS5X6-DNGL Bluetooth Adapter provides Bluetooth capability to a host computer. Place it on a horizontal surface or mount it vertically.
The Bluetooth Adapter is compatible with RS5100 devices using CAAEXS00-001-R07 or later and all RS6100 devices. Refer to the Adapter’s Product Reference Guide (p/n MN-004832-01EN) for adapter configuration information.

Mounting the Adapter

  • Place the adapter on a tabletop or mount it on a vertical surface. Select a mounting location where the pairing barcode is visible.

Horizontal Surface Mounting

  • Place the adapter on a horizontal surface.
  • The rubber feet provide traction and prevent surface damage.

Vertical Surface Mounting

  • The adapter may be mounted onto vertical surfaces using either screws or cable ties.

Mounting the Adapter With Screws

  • Mount the adapter using screws to hold it in place.

Use four M5 screws at least 13 mm long.

  1. Place the Bluetooth Adapter on the desired location.

  3. Pre-drill the holes to accommodate four M5 screws.
  4. Attach the adapter securely to the surface.

Mounting the Adapter with Cable Ties

Mount the adapter using cable ties to hold it in place.
Use two cable ties a maximum 8 mm wide and 3 mm thick.

NOTE: Mount the adapter no more than 2 m (6 ft 5in.) above the floor.

  1. Place the Bluetooth adapter in the desired location.
  2. Thread a cable tie through the top two mounting holes and wrap it around the pole. Tighten the cable tie.
  3. Trim excess cable tie length.
  4. Repeat the process for the bottom mounting holes.

Connecting the Adapter

Connect the Bluetooth Adapter to the host computer to provide a Bluetooth connection.
Use cable CBA-U46-S07ZAR.

  1. Connect the latching end of the cable to the Bluetooth adapter port.
    • Press the cable firmly until you hear a click to ensure it is fully inserted into the port.
  2. Connect the USB end of the cable to the host computer.

Pairing

Scan the adapter’s pairing barcode to pair it with a Zebra scanner.

Modes of Operation

Select a mode of operation:

  • Point-to-Point: Scan the pairing barcode on the Bluetooth Adapter to pair it with your Zebra scanner.
  • Multipoint-to-Point: Pair up to seven Zebra scanners with one adapter. To use this feature, scan the multipoint barcode when the scanner is connected to the adapter.

Using the Page Button

Activate the page button to help find paired scanners.
The page button is a touch-sensitive sensor.

  1. Press Page for approximately one second.
    • The adapter LED indicator turns blue and all connected scanners emit an alert.
    • Based on scanner capability and configuration, the alert may be visual (flashing LED), auditory (beeping), or haptic (vibration).
  2. Repeat as needed until the missing scanners are located.

NOTE: Scanners out of radio range will not alert when paged.

Troubleshooting

If the adapter does not work after following the previous procedures:

  • Check the system power.
  • Check for loose cable connections.
  • Check that the host computer settings are correct and that the adapter is connected to the appropriate port.
