SystemRoMedic 4011 Lifting FlexiMove
Safety Precaution
SWL: 150 kg/330 lbs
FlexiMove is used in different transfer and repositioning situations such as turning in bed, repositioning higher up in bed, bed to bed/bed to shower trolley, and lifting from the floor. FlexiMove features either four or six handles. The choice depends on the user’s need for support and required number of caregivers.
Check Safety
Visual inspection
Check the condition and function of the assistive device regularly. Always inspect the product after laundering. Check to ensure that seams and material are free from damage. Check to ensure that fabric is not worn or faded. If there are signs of wear, the product must be discarded.
Mechanical load
Apply pressure to buckles and handles and verify that they will not open or
break under heavy loads.
Always read the user manual
Placement of Flexi Move
The user is turned on one side and the Flexi Move is guided in with the
handles folded under the slide. The user is then turned on the back and the
handles are drawn out.
Turning in bed
-
Use the handles to pull the user closer to the edge of the bed.
Work in a walking stance with knees slightly bent, straight arms and straight back .
-
Fold in the handles, and then turn the user in the opposite direction, where one caregiver provides support. If you are working alone, raise the bed rails. Turn the user using the legs and pushing the user away from you.
Higher up in bed
One caregiver works on either side of the bed. Repositioning is easier if the
user is able to bend his or her knees to push higher up in bed. Work in a
walking stance with straight arms and straight back. Caregivers should
coordinate their efforts to perform a smooth transfer.
Bed to bed/bed to shower trolley
Caregivers should work in pairs (or more), depending on the user’s needs.
Place beds as close together as possible. Pull the feet over first, and then
help each other to manoeuvre the user over to the bed/shower trolley
Lifting from the floor
NOTE!
A mechanical lift should always be used, if possible. When lifting manually,
never lift more than is appropriate. Caregivers should work in pairs (or
more), depending on the user’s needs. Plan the transfer so as to minimize time
taken, lifting and distance.
