FOR A SUCCESSFUL INSTALLATION
- Read the instructions completely before beginning the installation.
- Plan your project.
- Check local building codes to ensure compliance.
- Check carton(s) to determine part count is complete.
- Installation is best accomplished with two people.
- Wear personal protection equipment; safety glasses, etc.
- Use care not to over-torque the screws.
- If installing to other surfaces the installer must acquire the appropriate hardware as needed for proper installation on any other type of surfaces.
IF YOU ARE ATTACHING YOUR GATE TO AN EXISTING POST, PILLAR, OR WALL STRUCTURE, ENSURE THE CORRECT FASTENERS ARE USED FOR THE MATERIAL TO WHICH IT’S BEING ATTACHED. FASTENERS INCLUDED ARE FOR WOOD. ALSO ENSURES THAT THE STRUCTURE BEING ATTACHED IS DEEMED TO BE IN GOOD CONDITION TO SUPPORT THE GATE.
SURFACE MOUNT INSTALLATION
Before you begin, determine the configuration that works best for your project. Including, which side the latch will be on, and if the gate will swing inward or outward.
- Hook the top hinge collar around the frame of the gate where desired.
- Using a nut & bolt provided, use a 12mm socket to tighten the gate to the hinge collar.
- Ensure the hinge collar is held snugly to the gate frame before fully tightening the bolt.
- Repeat this for the bottom hinge collar.
- Use scrap wood to rest the frame on during installation to achieve your desired bottom gap. We suggest leaving approximately 2” of clearance, though note that the slope of your terrain may require additional clearance. Align the gate to your post and place the hinges on the outside face of the post with the pin facing you (Fig. 1). Depending on the desired configuration of your gate, ensure it is flush with the front or back of the post.
- Place the hinges on the front of the post to swing out (Fig. 1), or on the back of the post to swing in (Fig. 2).
- Using the hinges as leverage against the post, push the gate inward until the hinge pin is flush with the post, then attach the hinges to the post using the screws provided.
- Attach one screw at a time alternating between the top and bottom hinges to allow you to make slight adjustments and ensure your posts & gate are level.
- Attach the latch to the gate frame where desired using a nut & bolt provided.
- Place the catch on the post and make sure it aligns with the latch. Then, mark the screw locations. Drill pilot holes of sufficient size. Attach using the screws provided.
- Optional, attaching the two-sided handle:
- If using the included two-sided handle, determine the position on the side rail.
- Then attach both sides, one side will tuck inside the other side of the handle. Then using the included nuts and bolts, fasten the handle together.
