PREPARATIONS FOR USE

INSTALLATION

Unpack all parts and remove any protective packing materials. Please keep all packaging until you have fully checked all parts of the unit are working correctly and for future use in case the
unit needs servicing. Ensure the Remote Control and any other accessories have been taken out of the packaging before storing the box away. This unit is operated by 230V ~50Hz AC mains only. Do not connect the unit to the mains before checking the mains voltage is correct for the unit and before all other
connections have been made. When positioning the unit, never cover any vents and make sure that there is a space of several centimeters around the unit
for ventilation.

CONNECTIONS

This main music system consists of three parts – the top record player unit with main controls and amplifier, the middle double Cassette Player/Recorder, and the bottom CD Player/Burner unit. Before using the system, these need to be connected first, and so will the separate speakers.
1. Assemble the system : Place the CD Player/Burner unit at the bottom, then place the Cassette part in the middle and finally the main unit (record player) on top.
2. Connect the 4 cables : Connect the cable (44) from the middle part and the cable (45) from the bottom part, into the main unit’s sockets (43) in the direction as shown in the diagram on the right hand side.
3

CAUTION: – DO NOT cross the cables when connecting these!
– To disconnect the cable plug, first push the top of the plug in to release it and then pull it out whilst keeping
the top PRESSED in refer to the line drawing below.
3. Connect the speaker wires to the corresponding speaker terminals (41) located on the rear of the unit: a. Push the right Red socket switch upwards to expose the hole in which to insert the
Red speaker cable wire insert just the metal part of the cable – then release the
switch. b. Push down the right Black socket switch and insert the Black cable wire.
Repeat this process for the other speaker.
4. Connect the AC mains power cord (48) to a 230V AC Mains wall outlet.
5. Slide the POWER ON/OFF Switch (50) to the ON position, if the POWER LED indicator (4), the LCD DISPLAY (2), the Blue LED of the CD 2 GO/PLAY/PAUSE (22) button, the Red LED of the REC (21) buttons light up and sound is coming out from the speakers, this means the power supply is correct and your system is ready for use.
IMPORTANT NOTE: If you find the unit switches itself off regularly, this is not a fault. Due to the ErP stage 2 requirements for the Protection of the Environment, when the unit is connected to the mains power, as a power saving measure, it will switch itself off automatically if no music has been playing for over 15 minutes. To re-activate the unit, switch the unit off with the On/Off switch and after a few seconds on again (50). Alternatively, if for any reason this is preferred, there is the option to switch the ErP2 over-ride switch (46) on the rear panel to Off to disable this power saving feature.
DUST COVER ASSEMBLY
The Perspex Dust Cover (1) is factory fitted, but just in case it needs to be removed and then refitted, the instructions on how to do so are as follows:

PUSH BOTH TURNTABLE DECK BLACK
HINGES BACKWARDS

INSERT THE PLASTIC COVER BRACKETS INTO THE BLACK HINGE SLOTS

PUSH THEM DOWN FIRMLY INTO THE HINGES TO COMPLETE THE INSTALLATION

to the arm rest by hand.

TURNTABLE AUTO-STOP FUNCTION

Some longer vinyl records will stop playing before the last track has finished, because the auto-stop setting required is just outside the unit’s pre-set area. If that is the case, move the AUTO STOP Switch (38) to the “OFF” position, this will allow the tone arm to carry on to the end of the record. Notes: With the Auto Stop switch in the “OFF” position, the turntable will not stop turning at the end of the record, so to stop the
turntable rotating, turn the unit off or switch the AUTO STOP switch back to the “ON” position, then return the Tone Arm to the Arm Rest. With the Switch left in the “OFF” position, the turntable will start rotating as soon as PHONO’ function is selected. Important: If anything is plugged into the “AUX-IN” socket, the turntable will not be able to rotate! *TURNTABLE PLATTER SPEED ALIGNMENT – USING THE PITCH CONTROL This model has aPro-Deck’ style Turntable and Pitch Control. To check if the speed of a record that is playing is correct, and if it needs to be adjusted, do the following:
o During playback of for instance a 45rpm record, look at the appropriate strip of Strobe calibration dots on the edge of the turntable platter, illuminated by the STROBE LENS (52):
o The upper one is for 331/3 rpm — the middle one for 45rpm — the bottom one for 78rpm records. o If the strobe dots appear to be flowing to the right, it means the platter is revolving slower than the rated speed.
Slowly turn the PITCH CONTROL KNOB (39) in the ” + ” direction. o If the strobe dots appear to be flowing to the left, it means the platter is revolving faster than the rated speed.
Slowly turn the PITCH CONTROL KNOB in the ” ” direction. o Make small adjustments with the Pitch Control until the strobe dots appear to be stationary without moving left or right.

STYLUS REPLACEMENT
When the stylus eventually needs replacing, a replacement stylus (Code SSTY8′ suitable for 331/3 / 45 / 78rpm records) is available for purchase directly from the manufacturer. If you keep Tapping the different function keys within a short period of time, this may cause the system to malfunction. If this happens, please switch off and then re-start the unit to re-set the system.
The reading and playback time of CD-R(W) disc varies from brand to brand and depends on the compatibility of the disc used. The operation for CD MP3 disc is the same as CD disc.
COMPACT DISC CARE
To remove a disc from its storage case, TAP down on the centre of the case and lift the disc out, holding it carefully by the edges. Fingerprints and dust should be carefully wiped off the disc’s recorded surface with a soft cloth. Unlike conventional Vinyl or Shellac records, compact discs have no grooves to collect dust and microscopic debris, so a gentle wipe with a soft, lint-free dry and clean cloth should remove most particles. Wipe in a straight line from the inside to the outside of the disc. Never use detergents or abrasive cleaners to clean the disc. If necessary, use a CD cleaning kit. Small dust particles and light stains will have absolutely no effect on sound reproduction quality. Never fix labels to the surface of compact discs or write on them, except very gently with a specialist CD-R Pen.

      CASSETTE CARE
Two common causes of trouble experienced when using cassettes are: – Tape jamming, leading to uneven speed during playback. – Tape entangling, when the tape wraps itself around vital parts of the mechanism.
To avoid these problems occurring, take the following precautions: a) Check that there are no loose layers of tape visible through the cassette centre window (see fig.
1). b) Take up any loose layers (using a pencil or ballpoint pen with hexagonal barrell) before inserting
the cassette (see fig. 2) into the mechanism.
Notes: If the cassette feels tight whilst performing this operation (see fig. 2), the tape may be jamming due to ridges formed in the winding of the tape (visible through the centre window). In most cases, these may be removed by fast rewinding of the cassette from one end to the other, turning it over and repeating this action again. Do not expose cassettes to direct sunlight, dust or oil, and do not touch the tape surfaces.

CD 2 – CD RECORDER
CD RECORDING FUNCTION
Apart from the CD playback function, this system’s CD 2 mechanism can also record from CD/Phono/Aux/Tape/USB/Bluetooth Reciver modes to CD.
Important notes: All recorded tracks will be stored in “AUDIO-CD” format. A “CD-R” disc can be recorded on only once and cannot be erased or re-recorded onto. This can only be done on a CD-RW
(Re-Writable) disc. Also, a DVD disc cannot be used with this system. The playback quality of either a CD-R or CD-RW disc varies when played back on different types of audio CD players. The revolving speed of a CD Burner is higher than that of a normal CD mechanism, therefore, some mechanical noise and
vibration of the unit’s cabinet may occur during operation. This is not a malfunction of the system. Due to the variety in the quality and compatibility of CD-R(W) discs available in the market place, please change to another
brand of recordable disc if you find it is not possible to record on the one used or its performance is not stable.

RECORDING TO CD

IMPORTANT PRODUCT INFORMATION
If you find your unit switches itself off regularly, this is not a fault. Due to the ErP Stage 2 requirements for power saving measures, a unit which is connected to the mains power will switch itself off automatically if no music has been playing for over 15 minutes. Switch the unit off and then on again to re-activate it.

The Energy-related Products Directive ErP2 impacts all energy-related products sold within the EU. To improve energy efficiency and for environmental protection, the ErP2 Directive, which is a European legislation as part of CE marking, applies to products that affect energy consumption during use. From January 2013 this Directive has required Manufacturers and/or Importers to offer products designed to reduce their overall impact on the environment, including the resources consumed during use, manufacture and disposal.
If this unit keeps switching itself off regularly, there are 2 options: The Power Saving feature on this unit which is there to comply with ErP Stage 2′ Regulations switches the unit off when the unit is not operated or there is no music playing for over 15 minutes.
