Service Kit Instructions
CAUTION: Risk of product damage. Do not overtighten the nuts on the tank. Overtightening may cause breakage or chipping of the vitreous china.
Remove
- Turn off the water supply and drain the water from the tank.
- Disconnect the supply hose from the fill valve. Do not bend or kink the supply hose.
- Unclip the refill hose from the flush valve. Remove the nut and remove the old fill valve.
- Use a screwdriver to remove the refill hose. Retain the hose.
- Make note of the flow restrictor type and color.
- Clean the tank surface around the fill valve hole.
- Twist in or out to adjust height.
Flow Restrictor
- Adjust the length of the new fill valve to match the old valve by twisting the threaded shank.
- If needed, reposition the arm relative to the refill port to match the old valve. Remove the cap by lifting the arm and turning the cap counterclockwise. Reposition the arm, then lift the arm while turning the cap clockwise to secure to the valve.
- Discard the old fill valve.
- Replace the old flow restrictor with the new restrictor that matches the old one.
- Connect the refill hose to the fill valve. If the refill hose has tabs, snap the tabs into place. Otherwise, properly secure the refill hose into place.
Replace
- If not already installed, connect the refill hose to the fill valve.
- Install the washer (rigid connections only).
- Place the rubber washer onto the bottom of the valve, if not already present.
- Insert the new fill valve through the hole in the tank bottom.
- Adjust the fill valve position as needed for proper fit and clearance.
- Hand-tighten the nut to secure it in the tank.
- If the existing tank uses a refill hose, clip the refill hose to flow into the flush valve.
- Otherwise, clip the refill hose to flow into the tank.
- Reconnect the existing supply and turn on the water. Do not over-tighten.
- Check all connections for leaks.
- Adjust the water level as needed by turning the threaded rod.
