How to… …recognise the parts of your toaster
How to… …prepare your toaster before first use
Please note
Oil or manufacturing residue may remain on the heat elements, so it’s usual
for the toaster to emit an odour when used for the first few times. This is
perfectly normal and can be prevented by following these quick steps:
-
Slot the plug into the mains socket and turn the power on.
-
Set both of the control dials to number 6.
-
Push both levers down until they lock into place.
The smoke emitted from the toaster could set the smoke alarm off, so please do open a window beforehand. -
Wait for both levers to pop upwards.
-
Allow the toaster to cool and then repeat.
-
When there is no more odour the toaster is ready to use.
Please note
The toaster allows you check the colour of the toast at any stage of the
toasting process without cancelling or restarting the function selected.
Simply lift the lever up. Do not touch the bread whilst checking. Releasing
the lever will drop the toast back into the slots and the bread will continue
to be toasted. If you are happy with the colour of the toast at that stage you
can press cancel to eject the toast.
How to… …use your toaster
Please note
You don’t need to press down both levers when only inserting bread into one
side of the toaster.
-
Check both of the crumb trays at the back of the toaster are fully inserted, then slot up to four slices of bread into the bread slots.
-
Plug the toaster into the power socket and switch it on.
-
Set the control dial to your desired setting, 1 being the lowest and 6 being the highest.
You may want to start at 3 and then adjust to your taste (bread may be slightly more toasted when only toasting one slice or when using for extended periods of time). -
Press the levers down until they lock into place and the Cancel lights are illuminated (this will only happen when the toaster is switched on).
Once the bread has been toasted the levers will automatically spring back up and can be lifted slightly further upward to easily remove the toast. -
If you want to stop toasting at any point, just press the Cancel buttons and the levers will spring up.
Please don’t try to manually force them up as this could damage the toaster. -
Frozen bread can still be toasted.
Simply set the browning control dials to the desired position, push the levers down and press the Defrost buttons so they illuminate as well as the cancel button. -
For reheating cold toast, just place the toast into the bread slots, push the levers down and press the Reheat buttons.
You don’t need to use the browning control dials as the reheat mode has a set time.
How to… …clean your toaster
Make sure the toaster is disconnected from the power and is completely cool.
- Use a damp cloth to clean the outside (don’t use abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the surface of the toaster, or metal polish).
- You should regularly pull out the crumb trays at the back of the toaster and dispose of the contents. This should be done once a week if the toaster is used regularly. Always make sure the trays are inserted back in properly before using the toaster.
- When not in use or when placed in storage, the power cord should be wound under the bottom of the toaster.
