Product Usage Instructions

Floor Tile Maintenance: All 6900 series tiles require regular cleaning and maintenance based on traffic levels.

Follow these steps to maintain the tiles’ appearance:

General Cleaning:

  1. Post signs to indicate cleaning is in progress.
  2. Apply floor cleaner following the Application Instructions.
  3. Scrub with a single disc machine or automatic scrubber using a 3M red pad or equivalent.
  4. Wet vac or use a clean damp mop to remove the solution.
  5. Rinse with clean water.

Heavy Soiling:

  1. Scrub the floor with a low-speed machine and a red pad (3M or equivalent). For extreme conditions, use a green pad (3M or equivalent).
  2. Wet vac or damp mop the scrubbed area as needed.
  3. Rinse if necessary.

Helpful Hints:

  • Sweep or vacuum loose debris before applying cleaning solutions.
  • Use clean water, dedicated mops, pads, and equipment. Change water and cleaning solutions frequently, especially in heavily soiled areas.
  • Rotate and change cleaning pads frequently based on the level of dirt on the floor.
  • Consider using walk-off mats in entryways to reduce tracking and soiling.

6900 Floor Tile Maintenance Instructions

All 6900 series tiles require cleaning and maintenance to retain their original appearance. The frequency with which they must be cleaned depends largely on the amount and type of traffic. Maintenance of 6900 floor tiles requires sweeping, washing and rinsing.

  • Do not use a sweeping compound as these may contain oils.
  • Do not use wax or floor finishes, including static-free waxes on conductive or static dissipative vinyl tiles.

All power buffing machines should not exceed 1500 R.P.M. Clean the floor with a neutral floor cleaner only. Do not use an excessive amount of water. Do not use pads or brushes that have been used on waxed floors as these will tend to leave a wax film that reduces the conductivity or dissipative effect of the floor. It is important to note that any cleaning solutions and residue must be thoroughly removed from the surface to ensure that electrical performance is obtained.
Note : oil mops, oil sprays or oil containing sweeping compounds are not recommended for use on 6900 floor tiles.

  • Floor Protection:
    Floors must be protected against excessive static loads and abrasion when moving machines and etc. The removal of small metal domes from machine legs is always recommended. Plastic casters and glides of adequate size should also be used to protect the floor surface. Be sure to protect using felt paper or reinstalling proper caster. Protective devices should be cleaned periodically to prevent damage when dirt and grit accumulate and are dragged on floors.

  • Throw Rugs:
    Some types of throw rugs are backed with latex that may be injurious to resilient floors. Always make certain that the rug supplier can assure that the rugs have a non-staining backing.

6900 Floor Tile Maintenance Procedures

General Cleaning

  1. Post signs to indicate cleaning is in progress.
  2. 2. Remove all debris and sweep or vacuum the floor.
  3. As needed damp mop the floor using Statguard ESD Floor Cleaner. Apply detergent following the Application Instructions.
  4. Scrub with single disc machine or automatic scrubber and 3M red pad or equivalent for general cleaning. Wet vac or remove with clean damp mop.
  5. Rinse with clean water.

Heavy Soiling
Low speed buffing or automatic scrubbing machines can be also be used for general cleaning. Scrubbing may also be required in areas of heavy soiling, ground in dirt or scuffing. Use Statguard  Low Residue Floor Stripper and rinse with Statguard® Floor Neutralizer.

  1. For general cleaning use Statguard  ESD Floor Cleaner applied to the floor with clean mop. For damp mop, dilute Statguard ESD Cleaner 10 to 1 (five (5) gallons of clean water to two (2) quarts of cleaner concentrate). For scrub use 15 to 1. For heavy soiling allow the Statguard Low Residue Floor Stripper to sit on the area for several minutes to loosen soiling.
  2. Scrub floor with low speed machine and a red pad (3M or equivalent). For extreme conditions or heavy soiling use a green pad (3M or equivalent).
  3. Wet vac or damp mop scrubbed area as needed to pick up solution.
  4. Rinse if needed.
  5. Automatic scrubbing machines work in the same manner but automatically apply, scrub and remove the solution. Change solution as needed or as situations dictate. Make sure the machine has appropriate pad pressure.

Helpful Hints

  1. Always sweep or vacuum loose accumulation before applying cleaning solutions.
  2. Use clean water, dedicated mops, pads and equipment.
  3. Change water and cleaning solutions frequently especially in highly soiled areas.
  4. Cleaning pads will build up with soiling, the dirtier the floor the quicker the pad build up. Flip and change pads frequently depending on the situation. Pads are reusable and can be cleaned with a hose, dried and reused.
  5. Use of walk off mats in entryways will help to minimize tracking and soiling.

Rolling Load Capacity

  • ASTM has developed a standard practice to “Evaluate the Effect of Dynamic Rolling Load over Resilient Floor Covering System” (ASTM F2753-10). However, this test is not particularly helpful in determining the rolling load capacity of a free-lay product like 6900 Floor Tile. The 6900 Floor Tile rolling load capacity is determined principally by its hardness (durometer) and density (specific gravity). 6900 Floor Tiles are manufactured with a semi-rigid vinyl (46D±3, Shore D hardness -ASTM D2240) with a specific gravity of 1.37±2 (ASTM D792).
  • Since 6900 Floor Tile is not glued down rolling load “failure” is understood to be the point at which a point load is great enough to compress and sufficiently distort the tile(s) so that they are displaced and the seams come apart. Statguard Flooring has tested the 6900 FLoor Tile under a range of wheeled traffic and weights. Nominal “maximum load” weights are as shown below.

the weights stated above are total weights (device plus load). They have been verified in actual use, but are for guidance purposes only and do not constitute a guarantee or warranty of performance. As stated below, there are several factors that can affect the actual performance.
Actual performance will be determined by the weight of the rolling load, (eg, fork truck, pallet jack, lift, rolling racks) and the size, type and composition of wheels/tires as well as the type of subfloor, ambient room temperature and floor temperature.

Increasing Effective Rolling Load Capacity

While the 6900 Floor Tile is intended for use as a free-lay system, the rolling load capacity can be enhanced with the selective use of releasable adhesive or specialized, 2-sided flooring tape. If heavy loads that do not otherwise effect the floor are regularly moved over specified pathways, and the tiles are being torqued out of place along these pathways, the adhesive or tape can be selectively applied to increase the load capacity along these lanes.
