SP-1103 LED Lantern and Flashlight
General Description: This LED lantern and flashlight collapses for easy storage. Can be charged via the built-in hand crank generator or external USB power source. Also charges cell phones, iPods and other digital devices.

Operating Instructions:
Lighting: Push the ON/OFF switch once for low power — twice for high power — three times to turn the light off. To use as a flashlight, leave the lantern collapsed. To use as a lantern, first open the black DC power cover (this lets air in and out) and then pull the lampshade open by pulling evenly on both halves of the lantern until fully expanded.
Charging the Battery:
Hand Crank: To charge the battery via the built-in hand crank, first collapse
the lantern. Next, unlock and open the hand crank at the bot-tom of the
lantern. Turn clockwise at about 3 revolutions per second. Charge for a minute
or more and the light will work. The red charging light will glow while
charging.
External USB Power Source: To charge with a USB power source such as a
computer, 12 volt USB D/C power adaptor, 120 volt USB power adaptor or
external Secur solar panel, plug the large male USB plug of the included USB
cable into the female USB plug of your power source. Plug the round pin on the
other end of the cable into the D/C charging port on the side of the lantern
behind the dark cover piece. The red charging light will glow while charging.

Charging Digital Devices: To charge cell phones, iPods or other digital devices, first collapse and close the lantern. Use the included female USB cable and plug the round pin at one end of the cable into the DC port on the side of the lantern behind the black cover. Use your standard USB charging cable and plug the large male USB plug into the large female USB port at the other end of the charging cable. With your device connected, turn the built-in hand crank steadily clockwise at about 3 revolutions per second. Your device will continue to charge as long as you continue to crank.
Precautions:
- To avoid injury, never shine the light directly in the eyes.
- Crank as evenly as possible and keep rotating steadily. Cranking too slowly will increase the charging time, cranking too quickly can damage the power generator.
- Be careful when cranking to avoid injury to fingers and fingernails
- To increase the lifespan of the battery, do not crank continuously for more than 3 minutes when the flashlight can light normally — and do not crank more than 10 minutes continuously when it can’t light.
- Cranking the handle at least 1 minute once a month will prolong the life of battery.
