AirTouch 5 Intelligent Temperature Sensors

Specification

  • Product Name: Intelligent Temperature Sensors (ITS)
  • Compatibility: Add-on for AirTouch 5
  • Functionality: Provides temperature control and remote switch for zones in your home

Product Usage Instructions
Positioning ITS Sensors:
Position ITS sensors 1.5m above the ground, on an internal wall, in an area with good air circulation and out of direct sunlight. Sensors should be as close as practical to the Main Module.

Setting Up ITS Sensors

Configure the Zone Dial
Rotate the arrow on the zone dial to pair it with the desired zone. Refer to the zone numbers on the AirTouch 5 console.

Configure the Dip Switches
Adjust the dip switches based on the number of sensors needed per zone and whether ITS is used as an AC unit sensor.

Pair Sensors to AirTouch
Remove the battery preserver, set zone dial and dip switches  correctly, then follow the steps to pair sensors with AirTouch. The zone name will appear on the screen upon successful pairing.

Select How ITS Sensors Function

Zone Switch (Default)
By default, ITS functions as a zone switch, controlling the state of the assigned zone.

AC Sensor/Remote Switch
ITS can be configured as an AC sensor to control the AC unit or as a remote switch for the entire house’s AC unit.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ):
Q: How do I know if the pairing of sensors with AirTouch was successful?
A: Upon successful pairing, the zone name will appear on the Sensors page of AirTouch.

Intelligent

Temperature Sensors
ITS is an add-on for AirTouch 5 that provides you with temperature control and a remote switch for any zone in your home. They are simple to set up and use.

ITS Sensors

You can setup your ITS sensors to monitor and control your climate in each zone. By default, ITS sensors will monitor the temperature in a zone and let you turn that zone’s air conditioning on or off.
ITS Sensors can also be configured as a remote switch for the air conditioning unit for the entire house.
Position ITS sensors 1.5m above the ground, on an internal wall, in an area with good air circulation and out of direct sunlight. Sensors should be as close as practical to the Main Module.

Setting Up ITS Sensors

  1. Configure the Zone Dial

    • Rotate the arrow on the zone dial that corresponds with the zone you wish to pair it with. Eg, for your first zone use 1.
    • Zones 10-15 are labelled as A-F, Zone 16 is 0 on the zone dial.
    • To check your zone numbers go to Settings>Zones on the AirTouch 5 console .
    • If ITC is set as AC sensor assign the zone dial to the desired AC number (AC Setup screen)
  2. Configure the Dip Switches
Normally 1 sensor is assigned to 1 zone. If you need a second sensor in a zone set the SUB IO to On (displayed right).
To use ITS as an AC unit sensor set Free IO to On.

  3. Pair Sensors to AirTouch
To begin pairing your Sensor, first remove the battery preserver (for new ITSs). Ensure the zone dial and dip switches are set correctly then follow the steps below.

Select How ITS Sensors Function

Zone Switch (Default)
By default, zone sensor ITS will function as a zone switch. When you press the button the ring light will indicate the current state of the zone (On/Off).
Pressing the button again will change the state of the zone.
In zone switch mode ITS only checks the state of the zone it is assigned to. It does not check the state of the AC unit. If the AC unit is Off and the zone is On, ITC light will be blue.

Zone + AC Switch

  • When ITS is set up as Zone + AC switch, ITS will check and indicate both the state of zone and the state of the AC unit.
  • Pressing the button will display the state of the unit (code outlined below).
  • If the ITS displays a green, aqua or blue light, the second press will turn off the zone and AC unit.
  • If ITS displays a red light, the second press will turn On the zone and AC unit.
  • To setup ITS as a Zone + AC switch, go to Quick
Menu>Settings>Sensors>Sensor Name and select the enable AC Switch button.

AC Sensor/Remote Switch

  • ITS as an AC sensor only controls an AC unit, it does not check the state of any zones. It can also be used as a switch for your AC unit.
  • When the button is pressed it will indicate the state of the AC unit (On/Off).
  • If AC switch is not enabled, a second press will do nothing. If AC switch is enabled, a second press will change the state of the AC unit.
  • To use ITS as an AC sensor, dip switch setting must be adjusted prior to pairing. ( )2
  • To enable AC sensor ITSs as an AC switch, go to Quick Menu>Settings>Sensors>Sensor Name and select the enable AC Switch button (screen shots above).
  • To use the AC sensor as a control sensor it must be set in installer settings (this must be done by a trained installer). Go to Settings>Installer>AC Setup and select the ITC as the control sensor.

Replacing the Battery

  1. Remove the Sensor cover from the wall.

  2. Remove the retaining screw holding the battery cover in place then remove the flat battery.
When replacing the battery, press and hold the Zone Button after removing the dead battery for 5 seconds to remove any residual charge from the circuit.

  3. Replace the battery with a fresh 3V CR2450.
When the battery is low, a Low Battery icon ( ) will appear near the zone name of the sensor.
A good battery will last for around 1 ½ to 2 years. When the battery is flat, the zone will change to % control if there are no other sensor in it.

LED Indicators

  • Solid Light: Single colour flashing every 1s:
  • All colours alternating every 1s:
  • All colours alternating every 0.2s:
  • On/Off Low Battery Not Paired Lost Connection

Note: The maximum number of ITSs in a system is 32. If pairing an ITS would exceed the limit of 32, the sensor will not pair, another sensor must be deleted before the new one can be paired.
If a sensor is deleted and replaced with another ITS that has the same settings, ensure the battery in the old ITS is removed.
