PREPARE INSTALLATION SITE
WARNING: The cable management pedestal must be anchored into a mounting structure that is approved by local codes and requirements using mounting hardware that is appropriate for the surface on which you are mounting. Please consult with a building engineer and inspector in the local jurisdiction to confirm mounting structure requirements. It is the responsibility of the installer and/or owner of the cable management pedestal to ensure and confirm that the installation and anchoring of the product are in full compliance with all Building Code Requirements required of the location of install.
Refer to local codes to confirm compliant installation location.
NEW CONCRETE POURS
For installations where new concrete is being poured, follow instructions provided with Catalog No. XEVPEDCMKIT, purchased separately. Once concrete has set, remove template, nuts, and washers from anchor threads. Install the 3-gang weatherproof junction box (not included) on the conduit stubs with opening facing away from parking spot. Drop pedestal onto anchors and install (4) washers and nuts. Tighten to 55 ft-lbs.
EXISTING CONCRETE INSTALLATION
For installations on an existing concrete slab, (4) 1/2″ x 5″ wedge anchors for use in concrete are provided. The pad must be a minimum of 20 in. long by 15 in. wide by 6 in. deep with the pedestal installed in the center to comply with edge spacing and minimum thickness of the anchors.
The conduit stub up must:
- Use (2) 1 in. trade size conduit
- Extend a minimum of 15 in. to 16 in. above the concrete pad
Connect conduit stubs to weatherproof junction box (not provided). Ensure a minimum of 10 in. of wire extends from the conduit to make connections in junction box.
Use the base of the pedestal to mark and drill (4) 3.25 in. deep holes. Clean
debris from the hole using compressed air or a vacuum. Align the pedestal over
the drill holes. Place the washer and nut provided on the anchor. Install the
nut one half turn above the end of the anchor to protect the threads. Use a
hammer to drive the anchor into the hole, leaving 2 in. of thread above the
concrete pad. Tighten the nuts to 55 ft-lbs.
If pad is not level, install leveling nuts and washers under the base of the
pedestal (not provided).
NOTE
- The installation shall use the appropriate anchors for the installation material and must comply with local building codes.
INSTALLATION
- Remove (4) screws securing access panel.
- Set top retractor assembly on top of pedestal. Secure with (6) sets of M6x20mm screws with lock washers and flat washers.
- Remove brackets from back of EV units (Cat. No. LNAEVC1- 48-SV1, purchased separately) by removing (2) M5 security screws. Install (2) brackets to Side-by-Side Mounting Plate (Cat. No. XEVPEDCM3) using (8) M8x20mm socket head screws.
- Partially install (2) M8x40mm socket head screws into the top mounting locations on the pedestal. Hang Side-by-Side Mounting Plate on the screws. Install (4) more M8x40mm and washers to secure mounting plate. Tighten top (2) screws.
- Feed the EV Unit power supply conductors into the pre-cut LFNC-B conduit provided. The EV Unit installed on the left side of the pedestal should use the longer, 27.5 in. conduit. The EV Unit installed on the right side of the pedestal should use the shorter, 26 in. conduit.
- Feed conduit through grommeted opening in the side of the pedestal.
- TIP: It is recommended to install the right side unit first as it is more difficult to manipulate the conduit into position.
- Route conduit down the inside of the pedestal and connect to a weatherproof junction box (not provided).
- Hook the EV Units onto the mounting brackets and secure using (2) M5 security screws, each.
- Make electrical connections per instructions provided with EV Unit (Catalog No. LNA-EVC1-48-SV1) and install junction box cover. Reinstall access panel cover using (4) M6x20mm screws.
- To determine location for cable clamps, insert plug into holster and hold the middle of the cable up to the height of the fully retracted cable clamp. The loops of cable below the plug and EV Unit should not touch the ground.
- NOTE: There are two insert sizes to work with the cable diameters. Choose the one that fits the cable on the EV Unit being installed.
- OPTIONAL: Slide base cover halves around pedestal. Install (4) screws. (Cat. No. XEVPEDCMCVR, purchased separately)
