Instructions for use — Ready-to-Use
One-Day Symphony Pump Set
Intended use
The Ready-to-Use One-Day Symphony Pump Set is intended to use with the Medela Symphony suction pump. The pump set is designed for use in hospitals and clinics. It is compatible with any Medela hospital bottle. The pump set is a single user product, intended for a limited number of uses – up to 8 pumping sessions within 24 hours.

WARNING
l It is not possible to autoclave the Ready-to-Use One-Day Symphony Pump Set
for safe re-use between multiple users. Use by more than one person may
present a health risk and could cause cross-contamination.
I Use Medela original accessories only.
l Do not use if the packaging is open or damaged prior to first use.
I Inspect before each use. Throw away at the first signs of damage or
weakness.
I Never leave packaging and components unattended. Keep them out of reach of
children.
If problems or pain occur, consult your consultant or physician.
How to use
l Before opening the packaging, check that the shield is the right size. For
shield fitting guidelines, see the Symphony instructions. If necessary, choose
a pump set with another
shield size. Sizes available are M (24mm), L (27mm), and XL (30mm).
I Open the packaging. Push the connector onto the shield. Then push the white
valve onto the connector (if not yet assembled).
l Screw a Medela hospital bottle onto the connector. Choose a bottle that
suits your needs.
Sizes available are 35, 80, 150 and 250ml.
l Push the open end of the tubing over the protruding part at the back of the
connector.
I Check that the transparent cap at the other end of the tubing is covered
with the yellow membrane.
If not, place the yellow membrane with the round side up onto a flat surface.
Push the cap into the yellow membrane until it engages. l Open the lid on top
of the Symphony suction pump. Place the cap with the yellow membrane firmly
over the suction pump membrane inside the housing. I For more information on
expressing and collecting, read the Symphony instructions. I Start pumping.
Cleaning and hygiene
Important
I Clean all parts that come in contact with the application site immediately
after use to avoid drying up of residue and to prevent the growth of bacteria.
I Use drinking-quality water for cleaning.
Prior to first use, This pump set is a Ready-to-Use product, which means that
it is hygienically safe to use without prior cleaning.
After each use, I Check whether there is liquid in the tubing. If so, replace
the pump set. If not, proceed as follows:
I Disassemble the pump set.
Note that you must also remove the white valve from the connector. I
Rinse the shield, the connector, and the white valve with cold clear water
(approx. 20°C), then clean them with plenty of warm water and basic
dishwashing liquid (approx. 30°C). Rinse with cold clear water.
Note that the other parts do not need cleaning. I Dry the parts with a
clean towel. Put all parts in a clean storage bag (not airtight) or in a clean
environment.

White valve: thermoplastic elastomer. Tubing: polyvinyl chloride. Yellow
membrane: silicone.
