Range Extender

Power On

Plug the extender nto a power outlet next to your router. Wait until the LED turns solid blue

Notes:

1. Do not mount the extender until it is connected and relocated to a suitable ocation.
2. The extender can be powered by a USB Type-CPD fast charger.
3. For more nformat on about LED statuses. see LED Explanation on the back page.

Set Up

Via the Tether App

1. Get the up-to-date Tether app from the Apple App Store or Google Play, or simply scan the QR code.https://www.tp-link.com/app/qrcode/?app=tether

2. Launch the Tether app and log n with your TP-Link ID. f you don’t have an account create one first.

3. Tap the + button and select Range Extender.
   Note: f you cannot find your device. please refer to FAQ> 01.

4. Follow app instructions to complete the setup.
   The LED should turn solid on (blue or red) for over 30 seconds, indicating successful connection to your router.
   Note: If the LED does not turn solid on, please refer to FAQ > Q2.

More Setup Methods
• Via a Web Browser

1. Connect your computer or srnar tpnone to the extender’s network TP-Llnk_Extender.

2. Visit http://www.tpllnkrepeater.net or http://1192.168.0.254 Ina web browser.
   Create a password to og In .

3. Follow web Instr uctlons to complete the setup .

• Via the WPS Button

1. Press the WPS button on your router.
2. Within 2 minutes, press the WPS button on the extender for 1 second. The LED should change from pulsing blue to solid blue, indicating successful connection.
3. If the extender connects to a dual band router, repeat steps 1 and 2 to connect to the other band.

Extended Network Names:
Router’s network name with EXT at the end or Same as your EasyMesh router (See back for EasyMeshdetails)
Passwords:
Same as your router

Relocate

1. Plug n the extender about halfway between your router and the Wi-Fi dead Lone. The ocation you choose must be within the range of your router.
2. Wait for about 2 minutes until the LED turns solid blue. If it doesn’t relocate the extender closer to the router to achieve better signal quality.

Tip: To place the extender for optimal W-Fi performance. access extender sett ngs via the Tether app and go to Tools> Location Assistant or simply scan the QR code to vsit https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/31031.

Solid Blue: Suitable ocation Solid Red: Too far from router

Mount

Note: The back area of the extender s used for heat dissipat on. It works best when the extender is mounted on a wall.

**Method 1: Via 3M adhesives***

1. Tear off the protective paper from the 3M adhesives on the back of the extender. * Two extra 3M adhesives are provided for future use.
2. Adhere the extender vertically to a flat surface that s out of children’s reach.
   Note: This equipment shall be nstalled at a height of ess than 2 meters. Caution: Double-sided tape may damage the wall or eave adhesive residue on the wall when removed.

Caution, Hot Surface

• The extender should be used within a temperature range of0°C-40°C.
• When the extender s working, the temperature on ts back s high. Do not touch the extender with bare hands, and do not st ck or directly mount itto wallpaper, paper, wood, glass, non-heat-resistant paint. foam board, flammable and explosive materials, etc, to avoid burns, discoloration, breakage or other accidental injury.
• It is recommended to mount the extender to f at and smooth painted walls, t le walls, and other objects. Do not stick it on metal surfaces, so as not to sheld the w reless signal.

Method 2: Via mounting bracket

1. Mount the bracket on the wall in the correct direction with the two provided screws. Tip: You can use the included spirit level to help install the bracket horizontally.
2. Attach the extender on the bracket as shown below.

Enjoy!
Connect your devices to the extender wirelessly then enjoy the internet.
The password of your extended network is the same as your main router.

Access Extender Settings
After setup, you can access extender settings via any of the methods below.
You can reselect main network, change extended network settings and more.
Note: tf your extender and router use the same network name, Method 1 is recorrrnended.
Method 1: Via the Tether App

1. Connect your smartphone to the extender’s or router’s network.
2. Launch the Tether app, select your extender, and log in.
3. View or change extender settings as needed.

Method 2: Via a Web Browser

1. Connect your computer or smartphone to the extender’s network. If you are using a computer. unplug the Ethernet cable lf any.
2. Launch a web browser, enter http://www.tplinkrepeater.net in the address bar and log in.
3. View or change extender settings as needed.

LED Explanation

Quickly pulsing red| WPS connection failed. The extender will return to unconnected status in one minute.
Slowly pulsing blue| WPS Connection is in progress
Slowly pulsing red| The extender is not connected to the routers wireless network.
Solid blue| The extender is connected to the routers wireless network and is in a suitable location.
Solid red| The extender is connected with a weak signal. Try relocating it closer to your router.

Q1. What should | do if the Tether app cannot find my device during setup?

« Try another method by following the steps below: 1. Connect your smartphone to the extender’s network TP-Link_Extender. 2. Launch the Tether app. and select your extender. Tip: you Nave connected to the extender's Wi-Fi Dut shill cannot find your device, try tuming off your ce#ular data. 3. Follow app instructions to complete the setup. If you are still having problems, contact our technical support.

Q2. What should | do if the LED doesn’t turn solid on after completing setup via the Tether app or web browser?

« You may have entered incorrect Wi-Fi password for your main router during the configuration. Check the password and try again. « Make sure the extender is close to your router. preferably within 16 feet. and away from large electrical appliances. « If you have enabled wireless MAC filtering. wireless access control, or access control list (ACL) on your router, disable them first. then follow any method on the front page to complete the configuration. « Try setting it up via the WPS button. « Reset the extender and go through the configuration again. If you are still having problems, contact our technical support.

Q3. How do | reset the extender?

« With the extender powered on, use a pin (provided) to press the RESET button for 5 seconds to reset the extender to its factory default settings.
