Frequently Asked Questions

I was set to buy the Braven BrV-X when I ran across this. Has anyone heard of both? Recommendations needed, please?

I have this speaker and ran across the Braven brv-x while on the river. The Nuu Wake is much louder and has more functionality than the other. They both are equally waterproof, as my Nuu Wave has been on my ranch in the summer, the river rapids in the spring, and skiing on the lake and the mountain with me for 3+ years. The sound quality is loud and full. It is good enough. By the time you account for all the different instances of audio compression by the time it gets to your ears, and the environmental degradation, the speakers only need to meet a certain quality. This speaker does that in spades.

How far away from the blue tooth device can you be before it starts breaking up?

right around 30 feet, or 10 meters for your metric chaps.

Does the Nuu have controls to skip to the next/previous track on the paired device? And do the volume buttons control the speaker or the device?

The Nuu does not have the control to skip to the next or previous track on the paired device. The volume buttons control the speaker and not the device.

Approximate battery life at full volume?

10 hours

Can you connect other audio equipment to it-does it has an aux-in jack?

Yes, it has an Aux-in jack.

I need a replacement power cord for this. Where can I find one?

When I lost the power cord for my speaker, I called customer service on the company’s website and they sent me a replacement cord free of charge. However, they may try and make you pay for it, or at least the shipping costs.

How can I tell when the battery in my Bluetooth speaker is full?

A row of LED lights on the front of your speaker will turn on once it is plugged in and remain on until charging is finished.

How can Nuu’s wake be reset?

On your phone or another device, then back on. Remove the NUU Wake from the list of discoverable devices and restart the pairing procedure if the NUU Wake still won’t pair.

How can I restore the factory settings on my Bluetooth speaker?

You should only need to do this briefly with most Bluetooth speakers. The power and Bluetooth buttons must be pressed and held simultaneously in order for almost every Bluetooth speaker to be reset.

My Bluetooth speaker is charging, but can I use it?

Yes. Without endangering the battery, you can use your Bluetooth speaker while it is charging. When using the speaker for the first time, you should fully charge it while it is off so that you may check the battery life.
